Thanks so much for your tutorials, Ron, they bring the level of real-world use detail that I needed to understand the Hapax properly. I’m very grateful! Thanks again 🙏
Same ! I really really was upset when i found out it didn't have it! Will be covering the new firmware etc when i complete my mc707 boot camp series!!!
This is super helpful. Been enjoying my Hapax thoroughly but some of the basic editing stuff has been confusing me. I’ll be watching this a few times. Thank you for this!!
I've learned so much from your Hapax videos, I keep coming back to them as I forget certain commands I don't use so much, thanks. Can't wait to see more. I use the Hapax to sequence all my gear in my DAWLess setup. I'm currently trying to use an old iPad too with the Hapax (USB port) with AUM and a IOS synth, but confused on how to get that to work. So many possibilities.
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Really helpfull. One question regarding the "Start from Position" on the min 4:58 you can change where a section starts pressing 2ND and play, but this only works once. I wonder how can I do to create this new starting point and making it stay there.
Nice tutorial! And it's also nice to see you becoming familiar with the Hapax after that first video. Can't wait to play with mine (I'm in the second batch, hopefully) On a side note, that little kinda strange "u" before the word timing it's actually a greek letter, that is commonly used as an abbreviation for micro in "physics/mathematics" language. So it should be pronounced micro-timing, and that makes more sense too. Please apologize for the nerdy clarification. Keep that stuff coming Ron 💪
Been a minute since you were active with the Hapax. Did you ever end up integrating it into a workflow with the deluge. Waiting for the Hapax to arrive but I’ve been a deluge user for years and don’t want to lose the arrangement mode along with a few other bits. Thanks for these videos. I feel like nobody else loves the deluge so seeing your take on the Hapax has been hugely helpful.
It's been a minute since I've made any videos. I had to unplug everything to prepare for moving etc. But did you see my really long live stream showing me using both? I'll be doing more when I'm settled, it's going to be months and months away. I'll be wiring in stuff and doing more videos later on. Thanks!
@@RonCavagnaro Just found it, will probably kick it on tonight. Good luck with the move. Sounds intense, but always a lot of fun to get to wire up from scratch. So, my Hapax should be here tomorrow, my gut is telling me inputs into Hapax (hopefully instrument definitions come soon) Hapax --> Deluge, Deluge --> all synths. The Deluge's thru/out functionality makes it a nice final stop and then individual patterns from the hapax can be recorded into the deluge, and the D's synth engines and own patterns can still be used. How did you have it wired up? Looking forward to seeing more when you're settled. There are too many people who kick the delly to the curb because of the screen. Those are silly people.
@@frankelstuff1150 yeah Hapax screens don't really make it any better to be honest. Yes I had it going out to deluge but Hapax had to be the master clock
Never. I use it together with deluge, because I get different results combined and independent use. Absolutely great. I was up last night till 4am work day with this combo. I will say it's different for everyone, for me it does have overlap but the way I work it seems the combo of both and sl mk3 I can be even more inspired.
Will Hapax allow me to sequence one instrument in say triplets (eg cymbal or hats) and another in 4/4 (eg snare or BD)? Does Hapax have the nudge function like the Deluge which is great for drum sequencing?
Question, how do you setup a new project template to sequence multiple synthesizer tracks assigned to Hapax. Example Track 1 - Oberheim OB X8 preset A (MIDI A out from Hapax to OB X8 MIDI IN) Track 2 - Oberheim OB X8 preset B (MIDI A out from Hapax to OB X8 MIDI IN) Track 3- Virus TI2 bank a patch 1 (MIDI B out from Hapax to Virus MIDI IN) Track 4 - Virus TI2 bank b patch 1 (MIDI B out from Hapax to Virus MIDI IN) Track 5- Elektron Digitone (MIDI C out from Hapax to Digitone MIDI IN) Track 6- modular drums over cv/gates How would I do this on the Hapax? Also since the Virus and OB X8 are multi timbral poly synths, I want to sequence multiple parts from each synth.
@@RonCavagnaro many thanks I am going to practice and watch the videos to get basics down on my Hapax so will be ready for more advanced videos. plus have to learn my new Virus TI2, Oberheim OB X8 and teenage engineering TX-6 so more than enough to keep me super busy having fun this month.
Hi is it possible to move all tracks simultaneously from one chord (or degree within a given scale) to another with a single touch of a button in real time like the OXi one can manage? So say in A Phrygian from ii-v-i for example
@@RonCavagnaro That's good enough. Thanks. Do you scroll to the degree (or note within the scale) on the screen and then click down to jump? So all tracks are in say the 1st degree if A harm min, you select all abd then scroll to the 5th degree and click donm and so on thus creating a song on the fly with sequenced tracks?

You really helped me with the deluge when it came out like 5 years ago. Really looking forward to the Hapax boot camp!

In the new update they added note sound previewing when you place a sound. I'm really glad they did.

I dont own one yet but sincd the update its made me really want to get one haha. @@RonCavagnaro

Keep that stuff coming Ron 💪
Thanks for the clarification it helps! I didn't go to college for this stuff haha just self taught
Some nice shortcuts in there, thanks! :)
Thanks for making the video, very helpful!
Thank you! Stay tuned I'll be doing more!
Just a little thing: When showing stuff relating to note length, clarity is much better if the sound has no release.
Ah yes I agree I did have release up very high on my synths. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I had a Pyramid but it was just too much for this noob, would really like to wrap my head around this sequencer:)
Wow you got your hands on one of those NICE 🤩
Yes it is very nice thanks!!!!

great video. thanks. question: can every pattern have a different program change ?
I believe it does I haven't used it for that yet but as far as I know yes
How do you set this up to enter note info from a midi keyboard instead?
Plug keyboard midi out to midi in on hapax, set the midi channel
Superb . Thanks . Can The sequencer run random or backwards ?
Yes I will be going over more functions in further videos.
it does forward, backward, pingpong, random (each bar) , random(each beat) , random (each step)
I wish the pyramid was more like this
Initial impression, does this make a run toward replacing your Deluge for sequencing?

Track 6- modular drums over cv/gates
How would I do this on the Hapax? Also since the Virus and OB X8 are multi timbral poly synths, I want to sequence multiple parts from each synth.
Ah I will try to get through the midi definition features... I still have to set up my new studio location sorry
Also want to mention when I get to continue hapax the next topic will be Cc automation and programming

How long can you make a pattern?
1-8 tracks, 1-32 bars

So say in A Phrygian from ii-v-i for example
Not with a single touch, you can press the select all button and turn the notes knob to transpose

@@DespairQuietlyPlease I don't have it out to check but it just scrolls the note
Can't hear notes unless the sequence is running?
That is correct, however live view you can enter in notes and hear it. Also you can push the right knob and it will trigger the lowest row note
