- The Carens is Kia's take on seven seater segment much like its cousin - the Hyundai Alcazar. While the Alcazar takes form over function with SUV elements such as pronounced wheel arches, bigger wheels, the Carens sticks to smaller wheels and tamer MPV styling for better usability.

I liked the Carens more than Alcazar.This car has its own position, Specs are more practical and Powertrain and Drivetrain combinations are much better than Alcazar.Would buy this if I need aa Family car.

Exactly. I was surprised to hear that ride quality is better in smaller wheels. Is it about the lower unsprung mass?? Still, won't these smaller wheels go deeper into the potholes than large dia's?
@@dilsoman I think the smaller tires provide better cushioning due both the amount of air inside and the thicker rubber. If you run bigger tyres, they will be lower profile having less of both thus perhaps improving the handling and looks but we would be sacrificing the ride quality. (This is just my understanding of the matter and I admit I could be getting things wrong)
@@dilsoman the smaller the wheel size ⭕(white inner metal area steel/alloy) the thicker the tyre wall ⭕ (red rubber area ) profile. The bigger the wheel (steel/ alloy) the thinner the tyre wall (rubber area) to keep same circumference for correct km reading.the thicker tyre wall gives better ride compared to lesser tyre wall, This is my understanding from watching talking cars, @experts JD, Vivek Hope I briefed correctly

Xl6 is a better value for money
This car is suitable for most of the family, you are getting most of the features and comforts(importantly safety). With current innova prices going up I would definitely buy this car. This is the best practical car i have seen in a while.

As JD said, Carens is all about practicality. For me, it looks like a perfect family car or RV whatever. It has its own uniqueness and identity. Feel good car. But look wise Alcazar is the best...only lookwise😄. Clean review on Carens. Keep going Vivek ji and JD. A really interesting design and placement.. definitely Alcazar looks better from outside.. but I think Carens would be better from inside.. very quirky "cool" features 🙂.. would like to know how the market receives it..
Hi, I felt this RV very appealing and desirable. I would consider stretching my budget a bit to get this RV over something like Ertiga/XL6 (we have 3 small kids and parents living with us)

I prefer Carens over alcazar.. Am have been using Ertiga from 2014 and couldn't upgrade to anything other than Ertiga itself in 2020.. So basically we have been with both generations of Ertiga since we couldn't find a better upgradation.. This could be a great choice to upgrade.. Good Interiors and better performing engine options.. Will definitely consider this one for the next time.. And as always Talking Cars doing really great.. Am glad to be one of the first few viewers of Talking Cars.. Glad this family get bigger and better. ❤️

this looks a bit better than the alcazar but also looks a litle bit like the maruti xl6 from some angles especialy in that blue colour (imperial blue according to kia)

Already booked the diesel manual. I was initially planning for an electric vehicle, but booked carens since i loved this one.would love to see a review of the diesel manual as well
Base model will take on top spec XL6(Diesel option,more features),top end might take on Crysta Gx.Also maybe,just maybe people searching for old Innova(type 4 V/Z) too might fall for this!.Overall a better package than Alcazar in every way.That boot really explains the practicality perspective of this car!,if doubtful compare it with wannabes like XUV/Safari and then with Crysta/Innova(real mpvs)
I hope this model succeeds and manufacturers respond with similar model. Considering the average family composition and use cases in India, this makes perfect sense.
The Carnival is one size too big (US minivan segment). What we need is more of cars like a VW Sharan / Ford Galaxy segment. And Kia seems to have a product that our market actually needs and I hope it gets the acceptance.

Carens is more like it is made with practicality as the key element while alcazar became more like going with current trend setup to be an appealing SUV.... I'd prefer Carens as it offers better practical things and considered passengers other than being a driver oriented vehicle... That AC vents for second and third row looks similar to airplane AC vents... It's a good vehicle 👍.... They price they're gonna give to each variant might decide its success as it's not an aesthetically SUV... Thanks for the episode, really enjoyed your conversation... Informative n entertaining ❤️❤️

I used to cut out those opel corsa / ford escort pics and stick it to my walls :) Thank you and keep up the good work. Its a delight watching you too talk about cars.
I have felt Koreans use better grade of plastics hence better acoustics inside the car although Germans have that solid feel always.
A quick thought, does a Panaromic/Normal Sunroof (even closed by the plastic cover ) affect the acoustics of the ride, as there is a partition in the overall insulation ?

I would definitely go for the carens.
Coz now I'm driving an Ertiga, initially I was confused between Ertiga and brezza, however the practicality of an mpv is much higher when compared to the so called 'suv image'. Travelling comofort of a long wheelbase car is an extra advantage,
Low ride height and finally bigger boot space.

Ur review on this car entirely different. I watched almost 3 review before this review. U gave so much info which a car buyer or segment selector need to be aware of. Especially the 3rd row seating arrangement. Watching the first 3 reviews I thought it's not practical. But u had this adjustable second row captain seat version ensures, this car is practical. Thanks for the immense knowledge sharing.. Keep up the good work..

Definitely Carens over Alcazar.
I think it's a another hit for Kia in India. At least some will choose an MPV for better space and comfort. I don't think even innova has 3rd row space and thigh support which carens is having.
Practical and unique.. Good active and passive safety features too.. Ideal for families who think Innova is too large and expensive and XL6(and Ertiga) is bit flimsy.. pricing is crucial

Haven't seen such a practical new launch in a while. Would love to see the diesel automatic available for mid low specs as well so that someone like me who want upgrade from small diesel manual to auto without hurting the pocket too much has an option now.

Good review, enjoyed the mention of Hyundai's fear for sharp curves at 14:55 😂😂😂 👌👌👌 Actually should the Koreans ( Hyundai n Kia) command a premium over Suzuki for a car like Ertiga/XL6 ? Instead of comparing with Alcazar a better comparison would have been with ertiga if their pitch with Caren's is all about utility

What's the onroad price?
Sensible car for someone looking for a replacement to Ertiga. A lot practical and only people who use it knows the value of having an MUV.
Wish they had started giving an AT with diesel in many other variants from beginning. Wish KIA gave a flexi seat as an option as well to make it a 7 seater when there is a need. Many other European cars does, why can’t they even now?
Stumbled across this video while trying to justify my purchase (taking delivery tomorrow). The car review is as expected and no new content there (trust me, have watched at least a hundred Carens review videos in Hindi, English, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil and any other language I can vaguely understand). However, what compelled me to sit thru the video is the review quality, the unassuming wit, extremely friendly conversation and the ease at which I could consume the 30+ minute video as if I am listening to a bunch of my friends engage in fun banter... Super fun stuff! This is how I like my car reviews!!!!

Folks wanting a modern, practical MPV with plush looking interiors would skip the Ertiga/XL6 & go for the Carens - if priced right ! Unlike most, Kia seem to have got the 3rd row comfy even for adults.

if its priced above 17-18 lakhs, then the xl6 will be more value for money.... feature wise this one is gud but seating wise, i found xl6 to be slightly better...😀
I own a Rapid 1.6TDi . next upgrade would be to a 7 seater segment . Carens seems to be more pratical than alcazar. btw the 2 i would choose carens . if korean engines would last like those toyotas and if its ride is nice it would be a perfect pick . Price bracket would be interesting if we get a fairly loaded automatic below 17 .
also the ride height when fully loaded . (ground clearance seems light low )
Which spec do u suggest... Petrol turbo with DCT or diesel with TC?

Seeing the review first on the channel . Good drivetrain options and a clever choice of tyre size on the Carens. Very clever indeed ! And Ofcourse the massive boot space with the last row seats down On the downside , a very poor location of the purifier behind the driver ( has to deal with the noise of the purifier while driving ) . Plus if the seats is put forward , your legs will hit the purifier .
Wow Interesting guys... I am/We are, liking it and planning for a change (Figo TDI) and looking for a practical vehicle. Sales guy has been calling me since a month just waiting for the price... disappointed they don't have D Auto mid variant. I will be looking for diesel.

If looking for a 6 seater I think this is a good choice . But cost will be a concern. RV means runabout vehicle ?.
The exterior looks similar to some other brand cars in market , like you said.
Carens create its own space in its segment, i think this vehicle may be a considerable vehicle over the ertiga / XL6, yeah it is premium but people may willing to pay it, lets wait and see.

Alcazar looks good and that dashboard appeals more to me. Practically carens is much better though. But in Indian market, appeal for carens is something that we need to wait and watch.
Vans are most practical, airy feel, and feels like at home always more over it have distinctive character.
I like Carens, exterior and interior design is awesome. I love this design
It can be placed between ertiga/xl6 and alcazar, it can almost replace brv or marazzo
BRV and marazzo are already dead.
