    I remember when we hired a campervan for 2 weeks out biggest cost was fuel and the hire of the van. I think I could easily stay off grid for ages. I'm not high maintenance. In my 50s I'm hoping to be like y guys.

    Glenn & Vicky. We really enjoy your content. We are just ( last week) retired and plans are well underway way. We have a 17.5 foot Jayco pop top touring van with full bathroom and have done lots of short trips with our triton dcab tow car. Retirement means 3 or 4 month trips from home in south west australia. Would love to hear from you. Glenn in SW Aust.

      Congratulations on your retirement! Thanks for watching. You might get some travel ideas from our videos, there are so many places that would suit 3 to 4 months away. Safe travels, and we might see you out there one day 😃

    Wish you could do a video on why caravaning has become so popular so we have this issue where you have to book 6 months ahead.Like its not cheap anymore, for example, for a family of 5 like ours most caravan parks charge 80+ bucks a night.We love traveling Australia but sometimes those cheap flights to Asia are certainly tempting!

    • @happycampersaustralia
      @happycampersaustralia  Місяць тому

      Unfortunately charging for kids in caravan parks has always made a site expensive, free camping makes family travel more affordable. We don’t have the answer as to why caravaning is so popular since Covid, but maybe people have realised how beautiful our country is! …… Just a thought 😉

    When travelling we often order things online as specialist things like caravan parts etc are often hard to find in small towns. We pick a post office in a town that we will be at in a week or so and get it sent there. If we get delayed I might ring the post office and make sure that they hold it for me. Sometimes you need to wait for the parcel but not often.
    I did have a problem where the seller used a courier who wouldn’t deliver to a Post Office. A country town postmaster gave me the solution to this. I just get the parcel sent to my name at the street address of the PO. I don’t mention it’s a post office at all. The courier companies Head offices rule might be to not deliver to a Post Office but the actual couriers in country towns drop lots of stuff at the Post Office.

      Thanks Brad, we knew it is possible and lots of travellers do it, but we manage ok without it. This answer might help Matti though. Thanks for the tip 👍

    Love your channel. Just wondering how you find the rock tamers. Do they work well in protecting your van.

    • @happycampersaustralia
      @happycampersaustralia  Місяць тому

      We don’t think they are fantastic, but they are ok. The alternative stone stomper gets better reviews, but the lead time to order is months, and they also look to be a bit of a nuisance to fit each time you hook up. The rock tamer is easy, and we have not had a broken rear window, or too many stone chips, so it does its job.

    Thanks guys, that was interesting. You've had the 3.2L Ranger a while now and I think you've said it's go over 300k's on it. When would you consider replacing it, and if you did would go go for another Ranger, and 2L or V6?

    • @happycampersaustralia
      @happycampersaustralia  Місяць тому

      It’s got almost 170K on it. We would replace with a Ranger V6, but probably not for a year or two.

    Hi, thanks for your advice and answers . I do have a question about when your registrations are due for both the caravan and the car, how do you get the rego papers while on the road? We do like staying longer but are finding a lot more free or donation camps have up to a three day limit, have you found the same in your travels? Thanks from Debbie

    • @GaddingaboutwithHenry
      @GaddingaboutwithHenry Місяць тому +1

      I don’t know about other states but in Vic they send it to your e-mail and you see regos in your vicroads account.

    • @happycampersaustralia
      @happycampersaustralia  Місяць тому +1

      We are from NSW, and all registrations etc are on the Service NSW app. We also find lots of free camps with limits of a few days, but that suits us 😂 We will find another one near by.

      @@happycampersaustralia Your van is less than 5yrs old, isn't it, and wouldn't need a "pink slip" for rego renewal yet?

    • @happycampersaustralia
      @happycampersaustralia  Місяць тому +1

      That is correct. But did you know a pink slip is valid for 6 months? We have got a pink slip months early in the past, knowing we would not be in NSW when it was due.

      Lol! That’s unimaginable for us! Glenn says, if he was somewhere 3 months he may as well be back at home 😅 Can’t imagine there being enough points of interest anywhere to keep us going for 3 months! …. But that’s why everyone is different. Safe travels 😃
