Hela has always been one of the biggest examples of wasted potential in the MCU for me, so this episode was exactly what I wanted. The ways it elaborated on her past and Odin’s abuses, as well as using the people of Earth’s spirituality and wisdom to help her character grow worked so incredibly well for me. What If is quickly becoming one of my favorite MCU properties.
Hela talked mad smack in Ragnorak! One of the jokes was when the Asian warrior said "whoever you are..." after one of her monologues and she was like, "Did you not hear hear a word I said!?"
Easily the best episode of the season. And it's not even close. Hela, for me, has always been one of the best villains in all of the MCU. They gave her one movie. A complete tragedy. Seeing her get the Loki arc at the end of this... I can't even! ❤❤❤❤❤ This episode is too good.
I think what I enjoy most is that it's Marvel comic stories without the hyper Marvel fandom. Can't predict any of this stuff, nor overanalyse Mephisto in every frame.
Agreed this is far better than season 1. The episodes feel more creative and the heroes and villains actually act like themselves. Plus it gives focus to characters that didn’t get a lot of screen time in the MCU. Nebula, Happy, Hammer, Hela so far it’s great, only wish we had more episodes left instead of just 2
This journey Hela took wasn’t just a reflection of Thor’s, but in many ways also a reflection of Loki’s! Especially the Loki we see in the series. Hela coming fully into her power echoes Loki’s final realization even more than Thor in Ragnarok. I love it. A subtle way of showing that Thor and Loki and Hela were indeed family, maybe? I’d like to think so. All of them learning to overcome their hurt and trauma and hubris, all of them becoming something greater once they did. Beautiful symmetry!
Ahhh!! "Even the darkest of hearts can know peace"!! This is how Thanos changed his mind in the first season and gave up the whole idea of snapping out half the universe! This is literally the third time I've seen this and just caught that!
This, episode 6 (Kahhori), and episode 1 (Nebula) are three of the best bits of the MCU. I think Kahhori's episode is still the better of those three, but the other two are a close neck-and-neck second.
@@StarkRG Especially since they've established her as a leader. I could see her being a big part in something like Secret Wars. For example, Kahhori and her people could be a fill in for the Thor Core if they do the Dr. Doom version
From all episodes so far I hope marvel makes a spinoff kahhori animated show before going live action and if shang-shi takes an eternity, I would love if maybe that kahhori show could connect to shang-shi as their realms are similar.
This is a good What If episode simply because we are not going to get more Odin Hela and Wenwu stories in live-action, and this is a great way to visit these stories
Can I also say that he is the worst father ever. Takes her puppy away and then gives her a crown and says be evil and then punishes her for that. No. bad dad
That was indeed hella badass (hehe). After this episode, Hela became my favorite What If character, and really, one of my favorite MCU characters in general. In my opinion, the humor was great, it showed that she was more than what Odin wanted, what other people expected of her. Just loved it.
It's ironic, i feel the biggest problem with some of these what if episodes is that they are only the length of an episode. Some of them i would love to see be extended by another 30 minutes.
While laid low on his knees, Hela took command over Gungnir, ripped the kingship straight from his hands - Odin, former king of Asgard can finally lay his weakened frail body to rest, as he always has been depicted as.
This episode more than anything else, showed us that Odin is a villain. That's just facts. I love this episode SOOOOO much that I can't even stand it. ❤❤❤❤❤
I really like it but makes me wish they bring Hela back into the MCU main timeline. Very glad they flesh her character a bit more. So potential they could have explored with Hela rather than kill her off in Ragnarok
@@gerardlacroix6015that or this version comes in during secret wars, it could work considering this hela is a bit more like thors sister in the comics, she is still nothing like hela but eh.

This whole season is INCREDIBLE, man. Cate Blanchett is obviously an outstanding actor, but her performance in this ep was about as transcendent as a VA performance can be in ~26 minutes. I thought Bugs Bunny (can’t remember his name, Jeff Burgmann, was it? Bugs’ voice actor) did a great job as Odin, too. And Idris, of course. Love some Heimdall. Really top shelf entertainment this whole season, top to bottom.
Great episode, I like this one a lot. But... You could have 100 rings and Wenwu/Mandarin, Hela, whoever... They are still getting snuffed out by the All-Father, Odin Borson.
This episode was real real good. I feel like Wenwu’s characterization is a bit off, but beyond that it did great work with an underutilized character and some great action.
True, but maybe this is a Wenwu who has only had the rings for (at most) a few years. And maybe at one point in his life he did try to use them for good early on, albeit through conquest, before settling on simply using the Ten Rings to carve out and rule over his shadow empire that we see in the main timeline.
tbh, not that much. He probably had the Ten Rings for a long while now seeing his large army + i think its a fortress he conquers at the beginning of Shang Chi and he already lives there? We saw he fought off all dangers with ease. When one woman appears and beats his ass, he is curious and falls for her, just like he fell for Shang Chi's mom, who also beat his ass... So I guess it turns him on xD Its very in character if anything
This episode of what if confirmed yet again that Odin was a terrible father that made literally all the wrong choices, except with maybe Thor and even those choices were questionable
