You 2 are not JUST entertainers, youre the face of diving for some of us. Dive Talk makes diving interesting to even non divers. PR for diving is what youre great with. Im not a diver. As a dive guide in Cyprus I’ve done this dive hundreds of times and still enjoy it every shop has a different name for the sites we call this Tunnels and Caves max depth 12m every entrance you can see the exit and it’s a very easy relaxing dive, however try it on a choppy day it’s like diving in a washing machine but still fun for the experienced divers also makes a great night dive.

I got my advanced diving cert in Cyprus. You guys HAVE to go. Visibility was near perfect every dive and there is a TON of things to see. My favorite was the MS Zenobia wreck. Over 500 ft long and is sitting from 19m to over 40m down. Absolutely awesome dives. And the water is surprisingly warm as well!

Those swim throughs and that exit from the cave for the end of the dive is what got me to do the cavern diving and wreck diving specialties. Those and zenovia wreck is what is currently moving me forward to go into tec and wreck-cave diving! Sometimes doing something just a bit above your level with a professional instructor that knows what he is doing is what you need to push to the next level in your hobby. Lionfish are invasive in Cyprus btw and they are very damaging to our environment, so is that kind of sea urchin that was in the video!

@BoostedCoyote I spent my first few years of life in North Cape May, lived in Rio Grande for the better part of the first 16 years of my life, then moved to the Villas, Mays Landing for college at ACCC and Stockton. But I'm back in North Cape May, while my mom is searching for a house to buy. I'm helping her out with her apartment temporarily. So I'm back in North Cape May in a dramatic "full circle" twist of irony! Where in North Cape May? I delivered food everywhere in the area and know these neighborhoods like the back of my hand!

Finally a divesite I've actually been too =)...Cyclops in Cyprus is a very nice relaxed site. A lot of dive centres take their students there, as well as regular customers. If I remember correctly, the depth in the bay is 15m max unless you swim out for a bit. It is full of these swimthroughs with various marine life...and Gus: lionfish IS invasive to the island of Cyprus, though you need a license to hunt them. btw, Cyprus is located in the eastern Mediterrainan sea of the coasts of Lebanon, Syria and Turkey.

    • @horhevamp8890

I have seen that they are allowing more and more Lionfish hunting in Cyprus... and the local restaurants are learning how to 'use them' so knowing how things work in my home country of Greece and also in Cyprus very soon there wont be much lionfish if there is money to be made ;)

Cyprus is an amazing place! Been a few times (although not to dive….one day).
And I’ll confess I’ve been the diver who’s on the bottom or crashing into things. But like Woody says, it’s easier to float and I’ve absolutely bust my ass to improve my buoyancy and general control and it’s something I try and improve with every dive.
I’ll also add that doing these kind of swim through tunnels was actually part of the reason (along with DiveTalk!) as to why I changed my mind about cave diving. I was convinced I’d hate being in the overhead environment. Turns out I loved it…now I’m wanting to cave dive.

Hey guys absolutely love you both. I'm from the UK but completed my OWC in cyprus October this year. (2023) and this was an amazing site I dove on my course. This isn't called cyclops which isn't far but just called sea caves. Water temperature is usually around 25-30°c. And these swim throughs I also did are beautiful, they are like you said around 8-10m deep. And the caves exit hole is awsome. I love cyprus and love diving there. I believe it was a sea cucumber you saw at the beginning on that rock (the long black thing)
    Keep up the amazing content.

Im very grateful my instructor was a cave diver. He taught us to frog kick even in open water beacuse you have less chance of hitting coral and such. As well as being trimmed and nuetral. We werent allowed to pass till we could complete the dive without touching bottom.
He also taught us to always but and stretchy band with metal ball or something attached to the bottom of the tank so if you need to get your buddies attention you flick it against your tank. This was another skill he tested us pn as we dived. We were always listening for him to click
We were also taught if you need to stabilize yourself only to use a single finger in a well placed spot.

Nothing makes a Monday better like a new Dive Talk video! Wow, what a beautiful dive this was too.
3:45 I mean if you CAN avoid touching the bottom, you should in my opinion. lol you shouldn’t be drawn and quartered for it, but ya know.
Lastly, if you guys did get sponsored, the way you all would be transparent and honest about it, it wouldn’t change my high respect for you all in the least.
The “elitist” scuba divers are the ones hurting the sport more than anyone else.
18:41 I would love the opportunity to get guidance from you guys on trim and buoyancy. I am still struggling with legs that sink like rocks, making me vertical anytime I’m stationary. The only time I don’t struggle with this is when I have a wet suit on! :/
Oh yea! And people who don’t use helmets while cave diving, don’t have much to protect any way 🤫

Those people are just jealous that they will never hold as much knowledge and be as badass as you two!
Many years ago, my father told me that when I got older, he would take me to Cozumel to take an open water class for tourists to be able to do a quick dive. Unfortunately as I got older, my father’s alcoholism started to take a toll on him and he suddenly passed away a few years ago. We never got to go on our scuba adventures. Still to this day, I am a non-diver.
When I saw you guys on here, you brought back my love for the underwater world. Even though I am a non-diver (for now), I have learned SO MUCH from the both of you just by watching and listening to you. Not only do you guys share your knowledge of diving, but you also make people aware of different ways to be prepared and safe throughout a dive, spread awareness about sea life and the underwater world, and you’re the most HONEST. You guys tell it like it is, not what you think people want to hear and many of us really appreciate it!
One day, I hope I’ll get the chance to take a class with you two and be able to hunt some Lionfish with you guys or search for aliens with Woody 😂 You guys rock and thank you so much ❤

Amazing video! It's so great that you share your love for the ocean. Scuba diving is such an amazing water activity and it's lovely to see you enjoy it and talking about it, keep going with these great videos. If it doesn't bother you, I'd like to give you a suggestion, a tip for the next videos: Basically, you could try inserting some comic and funny stuff... to give everyone a pinch of humor that, in the world of diving, can never be missing. Now, I don't think much of it, but the first thing I could think of in your sport might be peeing in the water. Once, my uncle, who is a scuba diver, peed in his wetsuit during a long diving session and that moment was absolutely funny, he even wrote "I’m peeing" on a waterproof notebook during the session. He has always been telling me that there are 2 types of divers and swimmers: those who pee in the water and those who lie. I know it may sound strange as a request but, in my opinion, these are moments of happiness and carefree that always make everyone smile, that's why it'd be great to include all those funny clips in your videos, if you want of course. I hope you like the idea and I hope you have a wonderful day! 💛💛

I've lived there - Cyprus is FULL of underground caves and cracks that lead to the surface - your common house visitors are often extremely poisonous insects or daddy-hundred-long-legs-and-fins-and-fangs, or something in between. Oh and ans are normal, they don't count.
One time too many rains came, a cave under Limassol (and its sewers too) were so flooded that a street was covered car-hight in roaches (and other insect mess). My classmate was biking to school when thay happened.

I've been living in Cyprus for nearly 3 years now and this is very much the kind of diving that goes on here. There's a few swim-through locations just like Cyclops in the video and the water's warm most of the year round, was 27 C (80 F) only last month. The Zenobia wreck is definitely worth a trip while here. There's not a huge amount of marine life here but those Lionfish are invasive and have no natural predators unlike the Red Sea where they originated.

Learning not to touch or mess with a sandy bottom is just safer for the diver. Along the lines of what Woody was saying.
There are more than garden eels in sand. There are rays, which to an untrained eye can be pretty well hidden. There are stinging worms like bristleworms, or other things that are designed to sting and still have the opportunity to sting you if you pick them up with your exposure suit and touch them later. It's generally just a better idea to opt out of using or interfacing with the bottom on a dive.

But I love your videos, they are really entertaining and they let me gain knowledge about topics I would never have gone through. You are a very good example of how it is possible to increase people's interest in anything if you find the right communication channel.

About 2 months ago a 66year old diver was trapped in Zenovia wreck inside the engine room of the ship. Was unable to find the way out got panicked and block his vision because of silt and eventually run out of air. “He was low on air but didn’t managed correctly and kept going into a forbidden zone” His friend only found out after resurfaced that his buddy was missing and he was low on air to go back.
    RIP

Aw guys, entertainers? What a complete load of nonsense - I may be a new subby but I’ve binged watched your vids and love them - I love the education, , sharing your experiences, the humour, your diplomacy, Woodys hats, Gus’s laugh ( btw Gus, nice work on the slimmer and I’m sure, healthier you). This channel brings awareness to safety with scuba diving and protecting the environment - please dont allow others to dull your light. It takes backbone and commitment to be a UA-cam creator - the biggest hurdle is “everyone has an opinion”. You guys are fabulous and I’m thankful for your channel - stay true to you - a big hello and thanks from Down Under !!! 👋👍👏👏👏👏

This is not Cyclops Cave. This is Caves and Tunnels a nice simple dive that bottoms out at around 15m max. It is great to get junior divers interested in diving. If you have actually dived the site then you would know that a helmet is not needed 😂

Swimthroughs are a lot of fun, but I do have to say you need to be careful if you aren't fairly comfortable to start with. I was in the Bahamas in a pretty long swimthrough, where I didn't realize it would turn into a fairly tight restriction. I couldn't turn around, so forward and out was the only way, which would've been totally fine, except that there were two lion fish right in front of me and I didn't have anything with me to easily get them moving out of my way. I ended up taking my octo and blew bubbles with the purge button toward them to "push" them along off to the side and was able to make my way through. My buddy behind me had no idea they were there because we were head to toe, no way to go side by side. Definitely investigate the swimthroughs before you go into them!

@@dannyphantom121 dive knife isn't really the best way to dispatch a free swimming lion fish with venomous spines. Sure if you've speared one and you didn't hit them correctly so they're still alive, you may need a knife, but that's a lot safer.

Here in the Mediterranean Sea, it is common for those swimming through, they are always on shallow waters, and they are not long and basically are rocks without life attached to them. About the temperature of the water, in summer is really hot, and on average is above 90F. Now in November, the water is still around 70F.

Cyprus is a huge island country in south eastern Mediterranean... next to Greece, Turkey, Israel and above Egypt. The most famous dive in the country (and one of the best in the world) is the Zenobia wreck dive. A commercial ferry boat that was going from Cyprus to Egypt. Its in accessible depth even for AOW divers and is huge allowing for great penetration throughout the ship.

  • @McrsftHater

    @DIVETALK some comments about Cyprus:
    1. The lion fish IS invasive in Mediterranean sea but the spearfishing is illegal while scubadiving at least in Cyprus.
    2. The longest dive through you saw on video is 12 meters at entry (the deepest point at this site) and about 6 m. at exit.
    3. The water temperature is up to 35ºC (95ºF) so yeah, shorty is preferable at summer.
    4. Come and dive in Cyprus! The Zenobia shipwreck is waiting for you :)

There's virtually no fish unless going on wrecks.. anyway these swim throughs are awesome, we take our final advance class students here as a reward =)
