The very first rule of cave diving is to always have a compass tied on your backup snorkel.
Word.
Not true. The first rule of cave diving is you don't talk about cave diving. I had to say it
They should seriously change the first rule to "1) Follow all the rules or die."
Hmm I thought it was having a pink diving suit.
Why are there so many first rules
It’s crazy how once you turn around, the cave looks completely different and it’s so easy to lose your orientation
As someone who can't find my way back out of a restaurant toilet, I don't find it very surprising tbh
@@PartanBree 😂 understandable
Yes that's exactly what can happen
Early in my cave diving journey my buddy and I dove a cave that was new to us. The entrance is not much bigger than a diver with gear and several feet long. It then opens into a room about 10 to 15' in diameter and continues on from there. I went in first and my buddy lagged behind still in open water while I got the primary line set up. Once I entered that first room, I turned around to watch and wait for my buddy. The first thing I noticed when I turned around was about a dozen openings in the walls of the room that all looked nearly identical to the actual entrance I just came through. It was what I imagine it would look like to be inside a piece of Swiss cheese. If not for the guideline I was running, I could not have identified the actual entrance with any confidence and I was only 10' inside the cave. I had been through all the training and knew the importance of the guideline, but at that moment it REALLY sunk in.
@@CL-gq3no man I can totally imagine that. That’s crazy
I quit smoking a few days ago from watching your videos, you guys talk alot about breathing and air, oxygen and how it all works. made me realize I need to take better care of my lungs
You can do it brotha, you are a soldier! 💪💪 quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do, people have quit heroin but never quit smoking! Wishing best of luck too you!
🎉 👏 congratulations!
@@johnnylego807 You get it. Every single day I tell myself to not start smoking again.
@@rdred8693 You are honestly a trooper brotha. Quitting smoking is by far one of the hardest addictions to break. I’ve met people who came clean off heroin, meth, and other hard drugs, but could never put down the smokes. It truly takes some serious strength.
@@johnnylego807 Thank you so much.
First clue that they aren't cave divers: No reel to open water.
I came to this channel by way of Mrballen and have been watching it now for a while. These guys try so hard not to be disrespectful or arrogant and to just educate people. It's really nice to see people who are experts in their chosen specialty trying to help others and also entertain the general public. Hat's off to you both and great job on running a very nice channel.
Same!
but how many of you know that it's actually Mr B Allen?
I agree 100%…I love this channel and have been watching for a couple of years, AND I don’t even dive! Never have, but would love to try❤
Clintoncaraway what’s up homie⚧️
I am a Padi diver 🤿
But I also came to this site
From MrBallen🤹🏻♂️
And yet they still get accused of being arrogant and of gatekeeping diving by dopes who think safety rules don't apply to them.
It's confusing enough trying to exit a shopping mall, let alone a submerged cave! Thank you for this educational video.
Very easy to lose sense of direction underwater.
😂 👍
Watching their video genuinely feels like a horror movie. The lighting, the tension, everything absolutely has me on edge.
As an open water diver I am 1000% aware that I have no business going in to an underwater cave. (Nor do I want to! As a child my mom and I got briefly trapped in a regular cave and I was traumatized for life.) I just don't understand these people. Do they want to die? Or do they think that everyone else is simply exaggerating about how dangerous it is? I guess they think it couldn't possibly happen to them?? 🙄
You can't know what you don't know. Or can't accept, maybe.
I was a regular "dry caver" (is that a word in english?) for like 7-8 years, never dove before. But holly cow these guys do everything that they possibely can to disorient themselves. I had the opportunity to "explore" on my own (the ppl who were familiar were behind, but letting me explore), and with that experience, I am watching in horror what these ppl do. I'm 17 minutes into the vid and I have no clue where they turned and where they went to....
Some children listen when their parents talk about how hot the stove is. Some folks listen to people who talk about wearing safety goggles. Other people have burn scars and are partially blind and some are just waiting for their own personal jackpot.
@@c0rr4nh0rn That is a brilliant comment!
I think I said, "Just turn back" about 150 times to myself while watching this. Just a general sense of danger tells me that. I'm not even a diver, just love watching your channel.
I really appreciate this channel as a beginning diver. They talk about a lot of the basics and also more advanced stuff still far above my grade. But when I did have some worries, seeing how confident these guys talk about how it goes and show it, has helped me quite a bit. Alot of the info the Gus & Woody tell during pauses are alot of the basics im learning right now so it shows that they are really trying to give good information for safe diving etiquette. Thanks guys!!
Yes dont let there confidence make you think you can do anything. There extremly great and dive ofter with the best of the best! They also have rebreathers so be careful friend!
You seem like you're the mom of one of them. Is it Gus?
@13:36
I’m a flight instructor and what Woody says here, and really a lot of things they both say in their other videos are so closely related to flying. Especially when it comes to the hazardous attitudes like these divers have here. We’ve seen it so many times where pilots exceed aircraft limitations once and the aircraft is still intact, or non instrument rated pilots flying into clouds for a few seconds and nothing crazy happens. It’s that false sense of confidence that says, “that wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.” That only solidifies the mentality of it’s not so bad and they can probably do it again, and maybe even a little more next time. When in reality the next time could be the flight where they cause structural damage to the plane ripping the wings off, or getting so deep into the clouds they’re unable to maintain positive navigation and control of the aircraft and spiral straight into the ground. Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first and the lesson afterwards.
Into the clouds then right into the ground/ mountain.....
Well one of the golden rules in diving is 'dive within your limits', that can apply to equipment and aircraft and pilots I'm sure
Boss, that there concluding-"Experience is a hard teacher [...]"-line is demigod-level, survival-amplifying, soul-saving ₩¡sd○m . . .
. . . and is-ţo ßoot-of a `wisdomal` varīety as maddeningly valuable & delicious as it is rare: the *¡nsta>ăpplicable×€xistential^Upgrade* varīety .◇.
I was just thinking that. Private pilot with instrument endorsement working on commercial. I watch these videos as a diver but as a more experienced pilot and I am in awe how closely related it is to see the hazardous attitudes of this stuff. Not having the humility to realize IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU. Get training. I want to get cave certified but I’m even worried at 100 dives if I’m even ready to go to the tech world. Can’t imagine being an open water diver with no training doing this.
@@ppo2424”Dive within your limits” is related to something we have called a personal minimums checklist. It’s a personal limitation you set to yourself when you’re calm and have no external pressures on you to complete a goal. For example. If I’m not comfortable flying in 15 knots of wind then I don’t go. So when my buddy really wants to fly and I feel obligated to take him and it’s beyond my personal minimums we always fall back to that.
So, I saw this at Ginnie two weeks ago again at Jackson Blue two dudes running camera rigs, single tank backmount, split fins, and no reels or spools on them past the signs. I cared a lot and it bothered me, I signaled I was pulling my primary reel because I didn’t think they understood it wasn’t a permanent line. I’ve had a couple people tell me that variety about ignorant people will pass with time. I mean the whole joke about “here’s your sign” really rings true. The scuba police are there at Ginnie. Somebody on a go cart wash checking divers, so I’m fine with that.
Nah you guys are not arrogant. I’ve caved regular caves with professional cave guides who taught me skills and I’ve caved with guys who thought they were experts. You guys carry yourselves and act like real experts and have every right to critique. Love your channel!
I'm not a diver but love watching your channel, I'm a hiker/wild camper/mountain runner though and find so much of what you mention about safety relatable, people don't realise that common sense alone isn't enough, you need to know the techniques and safety precautions that people who have messed up doing what you're doing before you, have discovered through trial and error, and occasionally death e.g. navigating on a mountain top when there's zero visibility is very similar to being in a silted out cave system etc. so knowing how to use a map and compass and walk off bearings can be equally as important as being able to navigate with reels and lines in a cave.
I'm a little sad Gus didn't throw in a 'safety third!' but the 'disco dancing on the bottom' made up for it. 😂 Great video!
“They have a backup snorkel, so that’s good”😂😂😂
If only they brought a canary in a cage so they know when the air in this underwater cave is bad.
I was counting the time between their breaths. They were sucking air.
I dont know if they have a false sense of confidence. It seems like they breathed faster at certain points, indicating stress.
I want to believe they learned they shouldnt push limits like that. Fingers crossed.
Typically, cave diving videos leave me with a sense of awe, and really make me want to get cave training. This video, made me feel incredibly anxious from start to finish...
Snorkel….don’t fail me now!
😂😂😂
😂
I get anxiety just watching these videos but my curiosity and love of the two host compels me to watch😂. I feel like I need oxygen right now 😅
i noticed all the items on Woody's are they cave divers list before he ran it down and I'm so happy at how much I've learned from you two. Standing? I'm certainly not a cave diver but I can't imagine that.
Considering all the ridiculousness that passes for content on social media these days, I think your worries will be realised in terms of cave diving being severely restricted in the future. Great video commentary as always and here is hoping this will not happen.
I just want to say even though I’m not a diver and I have thalassophobia (fear of deep or open water) I genuinely enjoy you guys’ content. You make diving look so fun! You guys are the only reason I ever get on UA-cam anymore! I would love to meet you guys someday!
I have a fear of deep water as well but tried scuba and love it. I found my fear is not being able to see under the surface. Take a scuba class and see how it goes from there. You never know this might be what helps you to conquer your fear.
@@michaelperry7527 I live in Georgia, where would you recommend getting classes from?
@@platinumyokai4243 what part? I'm in GA too about to start getting certified
Such an excellent video!!! Can't believe there are divers who take these risks when most people, I would think by now, have learned others dove and died without proper training. Keep pounding at the message for the people in the back! It never gets old watching you guys!!! Stay safe! ❤❤❤
I got the pleasure of diving Ginnie last year with some friends, it was an incredible experience, especially under that log with all the tannins in the water. I had about 100 dives prior in the lake I live on so this amount of visibility was insane. We had a really experienced guide, he also took us to Devils Den and the Grotto, it was around Halloween so they were having an underwater pumpkin carving contest right outside of the entrance to the ballroom, pretty cool. I've got a bunch of pics of us (trying) to sit on that log.
Back in 1981 I was stupid enough to try this same exact thing, single tank with one light at the Devil's ear. When I watched this, it gave me goosebumps because that was me. I got lost, panicked and almost lost my life. I thank my lucky stars that I somehow managed to get myself under control and find the entrance. I remember how relieved I felt as i took a break at the bottom of the entrance with the sunlight shining down. I never entered a cave again.
Woody is so sage. He could be spouting nonsense and I’d still lean in to listen.
Meanwhile Gus: “It’s not rocket surgery”
😂
I’m here for you too Gus. Your commentary cracks me up.
I just love the chemistry between you two. You both bring such a great vibe to the table. I'll never dive. Just love watching! Thank you both Gus and Woody ❤
Hey guys, I don't dive and really never had an interest in it, but finding this channel by accident has changed my view on it. I still don't want to dive 🐔 lol, but I now realize how beautiful and interesting it is. It's a whole new world and the information you guys provide helped me understand the different type of tanks needed and different equipment used in different dive settings. I've even learned some things I can do if I'm ever for some reason stuck in water and in need of help. I've definitely subscribed. So glad I ran into this channel. Keep on keeping on. You guys are awesome 🤜🤛😎
Adv open water diver here and I was in Vortex and went to the cavern opening, poked my head in and felt so so much fear with something over my head. Could never do penetration dives.
I love this channel. Even though I have no interest in going inside of a cave underwater. I like to open water dive around reefs and wrecks . It’s so much fun!
"A backup snorkel"
LMAO... really got me going!
I love how you guys are attentive to not only what could go wrong in the moment, but how success in the moment can endanger oneself in the future.
Two of the coolest guys ever. Ive stummbled upon a few caves and cavers which was enjoyable but nothing i spent enough time in to get into any trouble. Thanks for making this so dang interesting guys. Informative and entertaining. Perfectly. Love from Kentucky guys.
It gives me anxiety just watching many of your videos. In a good way. Your information is priceless in "what not to do". I take it all very seriously. You guys are great. Keep doing what you do!
love you guys! Not divers here, may never be, but your reactions are so great to watch!
Can’t say I watch every episode or all the time but I’ve been watching for probably a year now and HOLY GUS! You are looking great man keep it up!!🎉🎉
I am making a game about diving currently with the intent to make it as realistic as possible, and this channel has been a great goldmine of inspiration and laughs as I learn the ins and outs of diving without actually having participated in the sport.
As always, I’m surprised by the amount of detail that goes into training for cave diving and I can’t wait to send my players diving into this with nothing but instinct on their side.
12:42 "It's not rocket surgery", is my new favourite saying. Great vid as always guys :)
Always happy to see more from you both guys! Looking forward to this vid 😄🤿💙
Not arrogant. I love how y’all hit the balance of laughter and critique. It’s genius.
“It’s not rocket surgery” - Gus 2023😂
Great Vid again! 👌
im not into diving (yet) but im watching your guys videos for 2 weeks now, and love it.
I truly enjoy your content. Ive never been diving but none the less your videos are extremely fascinating and i appreciate the information given. With creators i have legitimate respect for i avoid skipping commercials unless they are excessively long because even if its barely anything to help, its the best i can do currently outside of commenting and sharing.
Gus you’re looking great! Not sure if you’ve lost weight but you’re looking happy & healthy!
Love these videos of what not to do 😂 but that’s how we learn, from others being really dumb.
Woody, that’s not arrogance, that’s your intelligence screaming “what are you DOOOOING?!?” 😂
I feel this way when my mother in law starts cooking and trying to take care of things she has no knowledge in.
Example: bed bugs. They have them in their room. I've told her that they are immune to pesticides. Pesticides will not work on them. So I gave her some alcohol and masking tape with the instructions to put tape down and rip off bed bugs and eggs, then spray with alcohol. I had them and got rid of them this way.
Did she do that? Nah. Too much work. She bought spray and sprayed the mattress and got upset when none of them died. Of course it didn't work. I told her it wouldn't.
So she bought fogger. She still hasn't set those off yet (it's been two weeks since purchase) so maybe she's taking my advice and realizing it isn't going to work.
I offered to get some climexa (it's silica dust. My ex husband got rid of some with this. It cuts them open. The only problem is it's a pain to apply and you have to dust it over all eggs so that when they hatch, they're immediately cut up.) but she didn't want that because it would "poison the dog."
So I offered to get diametecuous earth food grade which works just like the climexa.
Nah. It'll poison the dog and her because she has COPD.
Mind you this is the same woman who, they had roaches, and I got rid of them with spray and advion. Told her to put down some advion in their room and the first thing she asked is if the dog would go for it.
I paused and said NO.
Which I cant guarantee that. The dog could easily sniff it out and eat some.
I got zevo spray to kill their roaches and she insists I poisoned her and the dog with it, when she came out with a list on her phone of all the oils in it and how they are deadly to humans and dogs.
To which I said, "do you see this thing here that says SAFE FOR USE AROUND CHILDREN AND PETS? IF THIS WERE DEADLY THEY COULDNT PUT THAT OTHERWISE THEYD ABSOLUTELY RISK LAWSUIT."
tldr I understand how woody feels. I really do. I'm not arrogant. I'm just faced with stupid too much.
Also my husband told me, that he had hoped after 12 years of being together that by this point I would realize that instead of telling her "this idea isn't going to work and here's why" I am to praise it as the best idea ever, because she is a diagnosed narcissist.
@@billbombshiggy9254 therapy is a really good option for pretty much everyone, most major cities have it for free
I've never been interested in diving of an kind but after stumbling across your vids a week ago I've been binge watching all your past vid and it's safe to say I really enjoy your content and you have now peaked my interest in diving. keep up the great work
Im working my way to cave diving classes. Currently have AOW, advanced wreck, deep diver, search and recovery, navigation, and taking my solo diver. Need more dives to finish my solo so, im diving every chance i get. When my instructor made me turn off all lights during my advanced wreck and then he siltted the room out, no way i would have found my way out without the line. It was black and we were still close to the entrance. We also had a backup smaller tank and reg attached to us.
What you guys said totally agree - it isn’t just bad it’s idiocy - making other teams go save you, time and resources etc
i lived in Gainesville for a few years and visited ginnie springs (on inner tubes/with snorkel) a few times! I saw the cave entrance and it sparked my interest since i often free dive. It’s great to know that the cavern entrance is explorable for novice scuba divers like myself. Maybe one day I’ll take a guided tour of it l
It’s been a few months since I’ve been on UA-cam you look like he lost weight brother good for you. Love you guys videos almost 300,000 subscribers. awesome stuff
looking good gus, you been working out, them narrow caves got you. no se nada de diving pero por 20 minutos puedo aprender algo al mismo tiempo olvidando de las problemas del mundo real. you two make a decent duo. cheers for the entertainment.
Diving is one of those weird worlds where you cant be over prepared unless your trained for it. No dive lights unless trained because a light can easily trick you into going into territory your not ready for. You can easily go buy everything online and some shops will sell it to you, doesnt mean your anywhere close to being ready to use the equipment.
I recently found your channel and became a subscriber! Been binge watching Dive Talk (I don’t dive but live am Cuban and live in Miami, and always grew up swimming and on boats)
I absolutely love the videos, commentary, and information I receive watching them. Wanted to say GUS! I was watching a video from about 2 years ago before this one and I must say! You look like you’ve lost a lot of weight! C can’t wait for more videos ! Love you 2,s content 🤿
Watching this it looks like the diver who dropped that deco tank came out of the cave and showed them the exit.
I couldn't watch this comfortably without fast forwarding to the end of the video to see if they manged to get out. Watching this made me anxious. Thank you for this. It is definitely a memorable video that will certainly stick in my mind if I ever decide to be more adventurous than I should be. Amazing how quickly they became lost. Mere minutes.
That's so frickin dangerous..like you said if the lite fails your dead
It's so cool when you guys react to videos of caves or locations that you have been to... I have a few friends that are very experienced divers/ underwater welders and Everyone in that community knows you 2 and not just because of UA-cam! Love the channel you 2 are legends
There's one thing I have learned from you two, among many, that I never even thought of. If you muck up the water, you may have just sealed your fate and your buddy's as well. Take a tag line and follow one if there, 3 dive lights, little pony. I enjoy your videos thanks for the time it takes to make them...
My only experience with diving is from watching your videos but the “oh yeah and they have a backup snorkel” made me LOSE it 😂😂
I literally know squat about diving, but I keep coming back to this channel. thanks for all of the provided info.
Thanks guys, good to see videos like this with the understanding from your perspective. Great video.
Omg. Sitting here in SXM airport waiting to depart and I see Dive Talk bumper sticker on ventilation duct. A month ago I wouldn’t have paid it any attention, but I found Woody and Gus and fell down the diving rabbit hole. I’m not a diver but I love the idea of diving and I love Dive Talk. Very entertaining and informative
Glad you spotted it!
@divetalk At about 12:50, Woody tries to pause on the emergency snorkel. When paused, these keys "" allow you to move forward and backward one frame at a time. Just wanted to share for future reactions 👍
A little off topic but I’ve been with you two for a while now and have watched most of all your videos. I must say Gus you’re looking great brother. As someone coming from a family of people of the heavier side it makes me glad to see if you put your mind to it you can change.
Man oh man, I love this channel, but there is no way I would be a diver, much less a cave diver. Gus: "It's not Rocket Surgery" and "Oh, a backup snorkel".... Cracked me up. 🤣🤣 That being said, that looks scary as hell. Much respect to Woody and Gus. ❤✌
Great video!!! I want one of those Dive Talk t-shirts!
Years ago after having a ocean dive cancelled because of weather, dad and I stopped by Blue Grotto. Just being a Advanced Open Water Diver and no cave diving experience, we just stayed up top where there isn't much room and followed a catfish around. Didn't stay long but cooled down a little and had a fun time...
These guys always make entertainment and educational videos love them both! Keep it up guys
Absolutely baffled at the failure of simple navigation. We came in facing the writing of the sign. Let's go into the direction facing the back of the sign away from the writing 😂😂
My last trip to Ginnie Springs they recovered a body of a single tank diver from one of the springs my first afternoon there - it seemed such a normal occurrence that only one section of the spring was shut down for a couple hours before it was re-opened like nothing had ever happened, never even made the news. Diving is fun. Caving is fun. Diving in caves is nuts.
I’ve been watching this channel for awhile now, I’ve always wondered for all the cave divers here do you all get nervous still going on cave dives? Love the content fellas, keep it up!
Imagine seeing that scary death warning sign in a dark underwater cave and thinking to yourself "hell yeah, let's go buddy" 💀
Split fins will tell you all you need to know . ✅ 😂
As a tech/cave/rebreather instructor, once they turned their lights on, I did not want to watch any further. We have seen this too many times - OW divers going beyond the cavern signs. Stupid is not the correct word. Suicidal is. Yes, should their lights fail, they have: no light, no experience, a single tank each, a useless snorkel, and worst of all, no line to lead them back out and no skills for how to get out.
that falsely thinking you're qualified because of nothing going wrong is so true.
This is a niche community I'm talkin to lol but this is so true for kayaking... I was a flatwater kayaker for years. Nothing serious ever went wrong on my flatwater trips. It made me falsely think I could just do whitewater kayaking. I thought to myself, how different can it be? It's still kayaking. But dude. it's a different monster man. I never needed training for flatwater kayaking.... whitewater requires training and real skill to avoid having a problem. I had no idea how much more different and incredibly intense it was. I thought I was totally qualified. I was NOT!
I love and watch all of your videos constantly. I'm a new diver and I learn so much watching. I just subscribed and joined
Thank you for being part of the family!
1.Always have a guideline to the surface. 2. Use 1/3 of your oxygen for diving, 1/3 for getting back & the last 1/3 for any possible delays or holdups. 3. Bring multiple lights incase one should fail, but diving glowsticks would probably be better as they are lighter, don't rely on batteries or electronic components and can be tied off to the guideline, Making it easier to NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF THE GUIDELINE. Though they may not have the light penetration needed for some cases, they give off a lot of light in dark areas, plus they last around 12 hours.
When they were leaving there was a tank on the floor cave side of the sign (14:48). I didn't see that when they were entering past the sign.
It was there. It’s an o2/Deco tank from a diver inside the cave.
I watch this stuff all the time, I get severe anxiety from it.... Amazes me people actually love this sport, challenge crazy af! Love your channel guy's!!😳💀🙏😇😁
Just like Stockton Rush and OceanGate! Broke the rules and nothing happened. Until it did. Boom.
Indeed. You get away with stupid behavior until you don't
A buddy and myself got lost in a DRY CAVE, with no risk of suffocating and it was INSTANT PANIC. Now that I'm a scuba driver, i get sweats just watching stuff like this!
Last time I went to Ginnie my buddy Cory and I hit all he caverns, obeying the rule of thirds and the no lights rule in the ear and eye. We had fun in the eye swimming through the little hole in the ceiling, we gazed into the abyss beyond the cave sign. Just before hitting thirds we saw a group of cave divers lights flashing below, so we vacated the cavern to allow them room to deco. Fighting the flow in he ear was intense, there was a lot of rain right before the day we dove so we had to almost spider man down the side to the cave mouth. My buddy led the dive, I followed him down past the log to the edge of the cave. I was right behind him as he slipped into the final bit of cavern seen at 3:52 turned around and grabbed hold of the rock center bottom of the screen. He wedged himself against the left wall to avoid being blown out, I grasped the narrow walls either side to hold on. Again we gazed into the darkness not daring to venture further into the unknown. Its crazy to see here what lay just beyond what we saw that day, and to to think some poor fools risked it all for a glimpse at, well...wet rocks.
Thank you for following the rules! Glad you guys had fun.
Hey, guys! Non-diver here and fan from Brazil. I have some questions about the lines: when you're cave diving do you have to hold on to the line during the whole dive? And about setting up your own line, how does that work? Do you set up a line if you're going to an area of the cave where you can't find one (wouldn't that be unexplored cave area and a no no?) Or if you want others to find you? Sorry for the confusion. Just love how you guys always explain things so well to us.
We just follow the lines with our eyes if we can see it, we only touch it when visibility is zero.
@DIVETALK That's what I was thinking! I remember Edd talking about feeling the guy on the line. It's because it was zero viz. Thank you! I'm binge watching more videos and I am in one where you two explain exactly the fact that you don't physically have to hold on to the line. Thank you for your patience in explaining it again. 🥰🥰
One, it's not fair to close off caves . Those who love to cave dive deserve to be able to do it. They know the risks associated with diving. Two, if caves are closed, there will always be something else enjoyable but dangerous that people want to stop. Where does it end? I ride horses for fun. Riding is not a safe sport/hobby. You are on the back of a 1000lb animal with a mind and will of its own. If you don't know what you are doing, you can get seriously injured. Even if you know what you're doing, you can still get hurt. I know the risks. But my enjoyment outweighs the risks involved. It wouldn't be fair to me and others who enjoy riding to ban it because some careless/inexperienced person was injured or killed. It's the same in my opinion, when it comes to caves. Keep the videos coming Gus and Woody! I really enjoy them!! Love you guys!❤️❤️❤️
i wonder what they put in their logbooks ?? went diving in cave, saw a sign, almost died.. cant wait to go back and risk it all again !
"[Cave diving] is not rocket surgery!"-Gus 😂 love it
Man, Gus is looking great! And on another note, this is absolutely terrifying to me... For those divers to be doing that. 😬😬😬
I went into lusk cave around ottawa, ON. beautiful, very safe during certain seasons. towards the end of it, it gets tighter on the sides, which causes the water inside to rise (which i knew, but even still, it was terrifying coming face to face with it lol) with two close friends, i swam under after they went and reassured me it wasnt a long stretch. I dove under, for what felt like forever, went to come up hoping i'd went far enough, and when doing so, i forgot to lay on my back before coming up for air and so my head hit the ceiling and i panicked. Only lasted a second or two, and they were able to reassure me i was okay, but man the utter panic is something you never want to feel again. Overall it was very worth it though, the beauty of it and being so far out in nature was amazing.
You guys make a very valid point about the rules vs enforcement, all it would take is one employee to hang out at the entrance and check bands and lights. Seems like that'd be an easy thing to do for a place that makes the kind of money Ginnie makes. Sounds like once the money changes hands and waivers are signed, they stop caring about the rules. Love the channel gents, keep up the good content.
One day they will regret that.
Quite a lot of caves had been closed, including filling entrances with cement, by governments, waivers or not.
All it takes is a high enough profile case, some media coverage, and they'll find a way to punish the owner and ban the spot, there are too many asterisks and old or obscure laws for a waiver to save you.
Gus I know you probably won’t see this but I wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss you look incredible, healthy as ever and so happy I love to see it started watching y’all about 2 years ago and will continue watching y’all are awesome! Love you guys Gus and woody ❤️❗️
In long deep caves where there are still unexplored sections and its hard and dangerous to push deeper due to silt. Would it be possible to take it a pressure hose or something and feed it in as far as they can safely. Then head to the surface and run a pump creating water flow out of the cave. Like how they clear drains. Only not as violent as to not damage the cave. And depending on the cave system. Could you pump air into a room? Creating safe-ish spots people could rest or wait for help if need be
OMG you could tell by the way he was looking at each exit, my stomach went in knots! very tense, could have easily went so wrong!
My dad would really appreciate you guys. Hes a commercial diver, and that's all you've ever talked about is diving. I've always wanted to get into it. But I live in Wyoming so.
But I love watching your guys's videos because i'd like to start diving. I just don't have any of the money to do it. Love to watch your videos.
Because of this podcast I use a double tank when I shower at home
This weekend at Ginnie they had a staff member out there checking wristbands and making sure open water divers didnt have lights. I had never seen that before, maybe its a new thing.
The week after this video dropped? Interesting timing.
Gus making fun of someone as he says "rocket surgery"😂😂😂
It's okay, you can steal that comment ;)
Wow, the part where they got lost gave me anxiety! Yikes. I would never try this unless I took the class and went with an experienced "buddy."
I have been in a real cave before and I can say, when the light go out, you have no idea where to go, combine the twist and turns that can totally make one lose notion of where they are.
Like, I had no Idea we where back at the entrance after doing some walk with some turn, only notice one I went the entrance looked to the sides and saw what I saw when entering.
In a cave, the entrance can look very different from what you remember or have imagined, and that is how one can take the totally wrong turn.
Wow Gus!!!! You’re looking so good all that hard work is definitely showing. I would tell woody how great he’s looking too but you know I don’t speak octopus 🐙 😂
Love watching your videos even though I have to follow my first rule in cave diving at all times which is don’t do it 🤣 I always have time to watch and listen to your videos. ❤️
