Ep 51 | Sailing with YouTube Celebrities in Greece

- We all know there are a lot of UA-cam sailing channels out there but I never thought we would be sailing through the Greek islands with six channels all together!
It's been a brilliant experience so far, linking up with people who have been to, and filmed, such a variety of places around the world. As full time cruisers ourselves we don't have unlimited data so pick and choose the channels we watch regularly. We try and watch new ones from time to time as there are so many good ones out there, but we do tend to pick channels that are sailing areas we are in as it's a great way of seeing what's out there. So we already feel we know Rigging Doctor and See The Little Things because we follow them, but we have now been introduced to Josh Post and Bums on a Boat, both from the US. The man behind it all is Andy from Ocean Cruisers Podcast who has now interviewed all of us!
We are still sailing together so there will be more in future videos and we are all appearing together for a joint UA-cam live at 7pm Greek time on Friday (5pm UK time). That's a first for us so do join us.

FYI I checked , Congo does have a port about 100 miles inland up the scary looking Congo river, Port of Matadi!

My wife and I absolutely love Greece. Back in '97 we backpacked all over Greece and the islands. It is definitely on our destination list once we retire in a few years and buy a cat. Thanks for sharing your video and bringing back some great memories!
We sailed here from UK ages ago, got a house now. We've got about 12 cats if you want one !

Steve and Judy. What a beautiful place Mykonos is! So quaint and so Greek! Steve, I'm wondering if you've thought about installing flexible solar panels on the dodger hardtop on Fair Isle. Looks like you have room for several of them. As a general rule, it's best to have too much solar for your charging needs than too little. Also, if you go with lithium batteries, are you going to have to change out your solar charge controller and your shore power battery charger? I've been thinking about lithium for my 30' boat (I'm running regular deep cycle batteries) because of their ability to be discharged further than AGM and group 24 batteries, but I'd have to change out the battery tender and the solar charge controller on my boat but I don't do passages long enough to warrant that expense! I enjoyed the video and the scenic beauty of Mykonos very much. Cheers to you both...
Hi Wade, yes we do have a flexible panel on the dog house roof, it's actually the first one I fitted. It's doesn't do that well though as it always has the boom shadow. I have been preparing for Lithium for some time so everything I've fitted is compatible, it's just the old mains charger that might need changing.

Already buttoning down for winter? It doesn't seem so long ago that you left Venice.
You're right it's gone fast, but we are hoping it's not buttoning down for winter as we hope to sail in Turkey through the winter.

Which generation are you talking about? The parents who have covered wars around the world as journalists and are currently making documentaries to help stop FGM (which Judy has just earned her PhD for) or the younger generation, Millie, who has just graduated from Cambridge with a first in History?
@@svfairisle I think they are referring to our generation who film everything we do, like crossing oceans or sailing to new continents; minor accomplishments indeed.

Never really watched any of those channels, I know about them Rigging doctor Bums on a boat just never got into them ,maybe if we get locked down again (hopefully not)
Just wondering why you thought it was necessary to post that you are not interested in channels like this one?
I have always enjoyed this well produced series. A mixture of sailing and information on locations visited. But when I read a strap line of UA-cam celebrities, i feel ill. No way can I watch such rubbish.
It was an honour to meet and sail with these lovely people. Celebrity is a little tongue in cheek………do share the joke with us.

That is why you are here watching this youtube channel. Yes, some egos are bigger than their boats and some are obviously money grabs.
It is ok not to like every channel on UA-cam.
The nice thing about being stuck in a marina with youtubers is they know how to have a good time instead of willfully subjecting the boat to unnecessary stress. When you are crossing oceans, the goal is to make the boat last instead of breaking gear out of desperation.
