the Entanglement music has an interesting history. originally, only the 39 second version (HL2_song0.mp3) was in the game, in map d2_prison_05 (the moving walls in Nova Prospekt). but back during the 2013 Steampipe updates, the eight second Entanglement loop (HL2_ambient_1.wav) was added in an update to the Citadel, as you pointed out, restoring a previously cut music cue. this was implemented by a member of the community helping Valve out, and Valve liked the restoration so they kept it. prior to this, this .wav was only in the 2003 HL2 leak.
5:40 decompiled maps are not reliable, I recommend using the leaked map files from hl2 to investigate, and it was probably a visleafs issue, where the npcs thinf you are in a different room

I'm pretty sure it's a specific type of area portal for windows. It's used a lot when you return to c17 but they're mostly unnoticeable cause we all run the game at max settings with 500fps now lol
The last one is really cool; almost feels like they intended for that to be an option, what with the rebel still shooting the soldier and then continuing on instead of their ragdoll bein scripted. I appreciate that detail as someone who like saving rando NPCs whenever possible.

Interestingly, while playing through the SourceRuns Old Engine version of HL2, I noticed that the missing texture at 7:07 was missing completely absent, meaning that, the missing texture was probably caused by source engine updates, assuming it wasn't removed from the Sourceruns Old Engine version for whatever reason.
Interesting how they just make them disappear in the first clip. I really don't think it would take that much (2004) resources to keep them in the map until you hit the level load. This is especially egregious considering Manhack Matt and Arlene get killed to reduce resource load in their respective levels among others.
Also, i dont remember if you covered that shadow casting cube where the van falls into the citadel in episode one. When you get out of the van and it falls, shine a flashlight onto where it was and youll see a shadow cube.

Is the missing texture one an actual missing texture? I've seen it a lot on gmod maps, A random 1x1HU square with missing texture in a random spot of a map
It usually is rendered separate from the game which causes them to look crusty, The game texture is separate from an actual missing texture, You can delete the missing texture texture, But it renders one from a backup repository instead.
At first part, i thought that the LOD thing is a bug, but i realized it is an optimization for gameplay. So far you can still see these on Gmod and can be disabled by addons to enhance visual gameplay

I suspect the grenades are counted like the other weapons as both a weapon and as ammo, when you pick up a grenade the grenade acts like any other weapon and gives you the grenade weapon and a grenade ammo, like picking up a pistol gives you a pistol and some ammo, and it allows you to refil ammo by picking up another pistol, so the grenades refill your grenade ammo, and when you run out you still keep your grenade weapon, it just lacks its grenade ammo.
