Sometimes I wonder if Syd recognized the beautiful tribute they made for him, I wonder if he thought it was a good song and if he liked to listen like we all do...
But it's sad that he didn't like to remember his brilliant past, I would like to know how he felt about things and why. Like, if he didn't like to remember because he has changed and it's not the same person or is it because he couldn't keep up with the band and they continued after him...? I guess we'll never know
@@lai8544 Syd showed up during the recording of Shine On and advised them to turn up the guitars! 🎸 He didn't like to be reminded of his brilliant past because he got depressed about the fact that his declined mental state prevented him from participating in the band.
They threw Syd under a bus
David looks so handsome here, I read that when Pink Floyd was in the studio working on DSOTM and they noticed a strange looking man was sitting in the studio. At first nobody could figure out who this guy was or why he was there, so they kept working and forgot about him and the guy eventually left. David went over to Roger and said "Do you know who that strange guy was ? Roger said No, and David told him "That was Syd." Roger was so upset at what Syd had become. It really shook Roger up.
That happened during the WYWH recording sessions and it was Rick who figured out who it was not David. They later played Shine On for Syd and in response he said it sounded “Rather Old”.

Avrei un dubbio... Se David Gilmour avesse voluto veramente sapere come stava il suo amico che non vede da anni, avrebbe potuto chiedere qualche informazione alla famiglia di Syd Barrett, no?

Without syd there is no pink floyd. With syd there is no pink floyd…

That's not Right
Didn’t Dave replace him? That’s almost like asking Ron Wood if he knows how Mick Taylor is doing, or wanting to know if Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth ever have dinner.
David joined the band while Syd still was there. After he left the band, David helped him producing his first album.
They were friends from uni as well
Terrible questions poor gilmour
Perfect classy response to stupid stupid questions.
Yeah I’m sure that’s a sore subject. Personally I don’t think Pink Floyd was any good before Gilmore.
And Barrett's two solo albums, which gained immensely from the kind and guiding hand of David, are better than his PF songs, in my opinion. Having said that, there certainly was an ancient charm to many of his early PF songs.
painful to listen to
