I strongly disagree that installing and removing parts should use up your _REPAIR_ kit... it shouldn't. Repairing should use up your repair kit. You don't throw out a wrench IRL after you've tightened 10 bolts.... this is ridiculous and completely unneeded.

I got involved in the Scum community forums and pages, keeping up with the Dev's work and progress on 0.8. They went as far as including the community and reaching out, getting polls, consensus of which models looked best for the Base Building, etc. That added A LOT of hype to the upcoming 0.8 release. Advertised farming, implied we would be getting 2 modular vehicles(car and a truck), implied animal taming "might" happen with the 0.8 release, boasted the Nuclear Power Plant POI and it's new features VERY HEAVILY. In fact that was the main thing they seemed to be pushing with the new update and not so much the game changing mechanics of modular vehicles, base building, farming, etc. Everybody was H-Y-P-E-D. I'm emphasize that because the dev's and community admin's pushed this 0.8 update like it was the new flavor of the day and it was going to CHANGE SCUM YET AGAIN! and FOR THE BETTER! right?.....right?....bueller?..... Then D day happened.....0.8 dropped a nuclear BOMB on the ENTIRE community..and NOT IN A GOOD WAY EITHER!!!!!!! Let's run a few things that did and didn't happen with the 0.8 release. We got the nuclear power plant poi and the features with that. STOP. This is the only GOOD thing I've seen added to this update in my honest opinion. The Dev's put ALL their eggs in one basket with this added location. It came out AMAZING....but then...they wanted to mess it up with HOTFIXES. So now you can't run in a hazmat suit, hazmat lockers and medical lockers with phoenix tears can no longer be forced, you have to actually pick them now, after burning through 6 40/40 use screwdrivers and not unlocking a single one ive said screw it. screw that poi, screw the issues with radiation and screw that POI. I'll just avoid that entire area the rest of my life now because they've made it too much of a pain in the ass to visit regularly that it's not even beneficial as far as loot goes so other than my initial one time there in single player spawning my own gear to get in, I won't be back anytime soon. Other 0.8 surprises and changes: Animal Taming - NO SCAR - NO Farming - BROKEN, I had a 25 plot planter on a 10x Max loot server, out of the 25 plants(cherries, potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, apples. It took me several days to get them to be "ripe" and even then, total items collected over several days and COUNTLESS searching after restarts and loot respawning (5 potatoes, 3 garlic). That's it. Never got an apple, or cherry, or tomato, and then they DIED. No point in farming til u can actually get produce off your plants. Otherwise, it's just for FUN! CUZ GROWING PLANTS TO GET NOTHING IS FUN AMIRITE?! Base Building - Meh, semi-broken but with the amount of resources needed to upgrade each piece of your base individually, you'll spend days upgrading to just brick which can easily be destroyed with only 1 C4, and that's not even the last tier! For perspective, I have a 2 story 3x3 base on the edge of the water with a very small yard by comparison to flag range, walled in. I've made 3 runs to Brick Factory, Gravel yard, junkyard AND cement factory over 3 days and just NOW got my building to brick and have yet to upgrade the external walls beyond metal. This is on a 10x MAX LOOT server. Imagine trying to upgrade your base on a low loot or hell.....even a vanilla server. Cars - Well let's see. We had 3 diff types of planes, 2 diff types of boats, 2 diff types of bicycles, several types of motorcycles, 1 quad(four wheeler), an suv, a pickup truck, and a tractor...with diff color variants of the quad, motorcycles, pickups and suvs during 0.75. They removed EVERY SINGLE VEHICLE FOR THE UPDATE... with 0.8 we didnt even get the truck, we only got a half broken red dinky janky "wolfwagon" hatchback that for the last month has been nothing but a pain in the ass for players. Glitching, random despawning through the map, flipping the car on its side and roof with the only way to fix is either RAM it with another car or have somebody throw their body into your tires.....oh...but you have to STAY in your vehicle until that happens otherwise the car is dead in its tracks and you cant move it once you exit. So if you get stuck, unless an admin, or another player decides to help you. You're f*cked. Oh but we also got a boat too still, which likes to disappear randomly and people could still steal it for weeks after the update even if it was locked. Oh, and let's not forget to mention the dev's have HARD CODED a 100 VEHICLE limit per SERVER map, so if an admin spawns car 101, the oldest one despawns off the map....hence why most of your cars are despawning randomly...that or theyre falling through the map still. The SCUM Community had a meltdown. We still are in fact. Tomislav and the rest of the dev's don't appear to give 2 sh*ts anymore because NEWSFLASH: JAGEX NOW owns Gamepires. Yup...you read that right. The company who bought Runescape and monitized it to Micro TX hell. Every hotfix since the 0.8 update has only removed bugs that benefit players and nothing to fix the actual issues with the major issues players are experiencing. Server restart times: Prior to 0.8, the server I play on was doing 2 hour restart times. Restarts would take 2 minutes before being able to relog back in. Now....it's 10 minutes and we can't even get 30 minutes into a restart before everybody starts rubberbanding and lagging on a 70/70 server. I get that it's in OpEn BeTa however, you can look up in the release date....2018....5 f*cking years almost and they haven't hit 1.0 yet. It's almost as if they dragged their feet long enough waiting for a company like JAGEX to acquire them. One of the problems the community is facing now is suppression of our outrage. Any forum(Discord, FB, Reddit, etc) that has community input are deleting NEGATIVE comments and REVIEWS about this game and update that players are making to try and HIDE the fact that this game is a hot pile of trash right now. They're protecting the Dev's and don't want bad publicity on a major FAILED update. This game has a lot of potential and before the 0.8 update, was extremely fun to play. I advise anybody looking to purchase this game right now. DON'T. Don't support these dev's right now because they def are coming across like they aren't listening or supporting the community right now. Wait til 0.9...Hell wait til 1.0 and see how good or bad JAGEX makes it before buying, the price might go up 10 or 20 bucks but you'd be happier with your purchase THEN, than the feeling of wasting 35 bucks you'd be spending NOW on a broken game. Dev's need to stop going out and drinking all the time, posting pics on social media of their shenanigans and get to fixing their product. Hell, I'd have much more respect for them right now if they were to roll back to 0.75 and apologize to the community for this trainwreck rather than the current catastrophe that's occurring with this game.
I think one important detail that often gets missed (which I did recently) is the requirement for having medium engineering skill. Another one is if the car is missing a wheel you can't push it at all and need to find and put on a wheel first.
If you have a repair kit in you're inventory without enough points in it, it can stop actions like that. take that 2 out of 20 out of your inventory so it uses the 20 out of 20. not 100% positive but that has been an issue with crafting so maybe.
Great vid. One suggestion, it would have been cool to show the repair process on the lift. Like when you have a part that is damaged how it shows green and gives you the option to fix it. Great way to make sure that the vehicle is fully restored and every part is 100%
I think they may have made the cars too complicated. wheels and engine yes, but all the other parts just stop people from getting on and playing the game. be interesting to see if they drop the alternator etc in later patches
One thing that happened to me was when i found a Wolfswagon. Missed a wheel, driver's side seat and door, missing boot cover, and battery wasn't charging. Found that out after I got it running when I installed all the parts I located. The issue was, the battery wasn't charging. Looked at with the vehicle on the jack and found that the alternator was bad. I pulled out an alternator from another vehicle (same one I found for the other parts), installed it into my dead car, and the car started immediately (after a small charge from a pair of "Never-Ready" batteries I found while looting. It can take a LONG time to get things going, but the grind was totally worth it! Enjoy! RIBBIT!!!
Cars can be pushed up hill. Depending on the hill steepness. If it's not steep but a long gradual climb, u can push it up. If it's steep u can zig zag it up. Also if u have a squad, 2 or more pushing (WW golf can have 4 pushing) then it's even easier to push uphill. Be it that your character has been played with in-game in order to increase strength and constitution. Also a good way to exercise to increase stats.

To install a car battery you need to point at the blue washer fluid reservoir. Kinda odd but it works. Also be sure to have the battery in your hands. Car jack is only needed to fit and remove wheels.
On launch car physics where great, handling superb, heavy, now they are like paper weight and very easy to flip when cornering, not liking hidden changes. And what's up with the car paints? Is it that HARD to implement old cammo variety? They could make paint purchase available at the trader like with base element upgrades.

If you don’t have all doors on the car the locks are useless and make sure the car doors are closed all 4 doors that is otherwise other players can steal your car unless they fixed it
I think you couldn't install the battery because it was trying to use the repair kit from the one that only had 2 uses left, and it wasn't enough. if you drop it out of the vicinity, it will pull the vehicle repair uses from the full repair kit.
true, it works the same way like toolboxes, electrical toolkits, threads, ropes, you name it - the game auto selects the thing that doesn't have enough uses and then nothing happens. Just throw that toolkit out of your inventory as the game always auto select things from your inventory first before selecting things from your vicinity.
not true. it is always 2 uses to remove or install anything. it will even go with just one use left. also you can install/remove with repair kit only using car jack. at vendor's place you buy those actions with money. what happened is just another buggy implementation. possibly you would install this battery using different angle or distance from car or both. possibly it is just "hotfixed" as usual
you should be able to use a normal toolbox to work on a car (like changing a tire ect) rather then a repair kit since your not actually repairing anything
I saw a dude roll a car into a safe zone last night and another dude sold it out from under him, will putting a lock on the door stop other players from being able to sell it.
Cool I guess. As a solo player I've not seen a car jack spawn anywhere. The car parts I've found don't seem to be storable, I thought I could just put them in the car I found until I found or bought a jack but they won't let me store it in the vehicles storage. So it all despawned before I could do anything with it. And now apparently chests disappear after 10 days no matter what so I lost everything. Really love this game but man lately these bugs and new features have just ruined it for me. I wanna get back in the game but it's just left a bad taste in my mouth.
jacks are about as common as battery drills and rebar cutters. Mostly found in garages. Car parts are huge and apart from wheels can usually not fit in cars or boxes and need to be installed or carried. A car door is about the size of 3 boxes in a cars inventory
@@RayKit that is a fair point but something with 0.8 is odd with a lot of things not making sense. Also how do you get the bikes to spawn in the world I don't have a option for having them spawn in the world naturally?
Wouldn't breaking the engines out into repairable/lootable components you can bring to a found car instead be much more realistic/efficient? Hope they implement something like that instead.
The amount of things devs can do with modular vehicles is endless. More storage space, more armor, more efficient fuel consumption, gas tanks instead of back seats, lockable modular prison sell on the backseats, some makeshift rocket launcher instead of front seat, more powerfull engines.
can anyone else think of game where a cars engine can be missing and pushing a vehicle like that in scum is a thing in any other games because i can't in my 28 yrs of life, That feature is truly amazing, its why i've always said i'm not just passionate about games but its the ideas themselves that turn into awesome features, i think its way i fcking dispise ubisoft and EA games alot of other AAA company that beat there talented work force into submission of a copy and paste frenzy, CEO sez "thy creative passions and ideas will not get in the way of my profit margins", Loving that smaller studios are coming up with fresh ideas, i really love project Zomboid for its in depth-ness, like being able to do car mechanics and break up objects or move objects like walls, furniture is a remarkable feature .

I think I heard that if you have someone with you, you can have the other player use another vehicle to push you while you are in the other one. (If that makes sense.)
Instead of having medium engineering there should be books on how to maintenance cars like 5 books or something, its such a pain leveling engineering it would be easier if you could purchase the books from a trader.
Its not finniky you need to look at the blueprint and not through the glass just like building.... Im glad they give you battery with some charge in it now.... last time i brought a car it cost 500$ for a battery that was flat.... Towing is a great idea. You can push a car up hills with multiple people pushing but towing would be amazing. What id add to this vid is that where the cost says (-1000) (-500) thats the cost to buy the part and cost to install it. If your selling parts off the car it will be (-500) (+400) which is 500scum bucks to remove the part and 400$ to sell it
I've found the more mods you put on you vehicle the more fuel you go consume, and now you pay for fuel its not really worth it. Ive taken all surplus things off the car,ie doors, seats and back hatch and it makes a big difference
uuuurh i'm not coder so this could be a ridiculous request for all i know, what about being able to have more than one person push the vehicle to allow you to push up hill maybe not super steep at a guess 15-20% gradient maybe more with a 3rd man pushing from the rear, but me thinks its would be complicated, with de-sync and physics, can't really think of complex game like scum where multiple players can manipulate the same object in unison, probably best to just getting towing implemented probably far easier to dev and code lols i'd guess
As for pushing your car to a traders, there' are few tips. 1. Use nudge forward mechanic to get elevation and use momentum to carry you thought inclines that otherwise would be impossible to cover. 2. Plan the route you'll take, don't just stick to roads, look for the smoothest angle/gradient.
You can also tac up the hill like a sail boat does when it needs to sail into the wind. Also your stamina will recover if you let off walk when going down hill. Pushed one over 10k to an outpost only took about 30mins tops.
You know they shouldve just made the whole car customization stuff exactly like how most racing games or games like GTA 5 does it Once you bring it to the mechanic it goes right into a separate gamespace for it and when you're done it drops the customized vehicle into the world via a load screen If you played any games like GTA 5 or just any racing game you get the idea of what I mean Cause let's face not everything in the game has to be that realistic that it's counter intuitive and could be done a lot better and be way easier on the player
i found a car and i cant do nothing to it.... nothing beside pushing him , he runs have gaz and battery when i found it. still i cannot modify anything neither add what is left *doors and trunk* so i just sold it for 35k
95% of the time you find a car which has no engine. Do the devs really think someone is going to take the risk an PUSH the car all the way to a trader? Like, really?
Honestly, I decided to give this game another go the other day, so downloaded it and well, I'm already bored shitless with it, the monotony of searching through cupboards etc for loot when 90% of them are empty, fucking sucks, I've always felt and still feel that if more loot was laid out like it is in DayZ, that would make it more enjoyable, but after playing for another 12 or so hours, I honestly find myself bored shitless again and frustrated with the awfully shit looting mechanics, soooo I'm unfortunately un-installing the game once again.
Trader in survival games. The first trader was created on the first DayZ mod and this shitty trend is forced into every survival game as if it was an indispensable aspect of survival. I hope that admins can disable traders because if not, there is no point in creating a server for this game and I will stay with DayZ.

Cars can be pushed up hill. Depending on the hill steepness. If it's not steep but a long gradual climb, u can push it up. If it's steep u can zig zag it up. Also if u have a squad, 2 or more pushing (WW golf can have 4 pushing) then it's even easier to push uphill.
Be it that your character has been played with in-game in order to increase strength and constitution. Also a good way to exercise to increase stats.

To install a car battery you need to point at the blue washer fluid reservoir. Kinda odd but it works. Also be sure to have the battery in your hands. Car jack is only needed to fit and remove wheels.
On launch car physics where great, handling superb, heavy, now they are like paper weight and very easy to flip when cornering, not liking hidden changes. And what's up with the car paints? Is it that HARD to implement old cammo variety? They could make paint purchase available at the trader like with base element upgrades.

Something to consider, some servers will have a cap on the number of Engines that can spawn so be careful when playing the unpopulated old servers

So many other videos on youtube saying lots of blahblah but forget the important details, because to them they are not important? Don't know, bur RayKit tells all the details you must know and that's why he's the best video maker for scum.
If you don’t have all doors on the car the locks are useless and make sure the car doors are closed all 4 doors that is otherwise other players can steal your car unless they fixed it

Yes they can take your car but they cant access your inventory, that remains locked
I think you couldn't install the battery because it was trying to use the repair kit from the one that only had 2 uses left, and it wasn't enough. if you drop it out of the vicinity, it will pull the vehicle repair uses from the full repair kit.

true, it works the same way like toolboxes, electrical toolkits, threads, ropes, you name it - the game auto selects the thing that doesn't have enough uses and then nothing happens. Just throw that toolkit out of your inventory as the game always auto select things from your inventory first before selecting things from your vicinity.
not true. it is always 2 uses to remove or install anything. it will even go with just one use left. also you can install/remove with repair kit only using car jack. at vendor's place you buy those actions with money. what happened is just another buggy implementation. possibly you would install this battery using different angle or distance from car or both. possibly it is just "hotfixed" as usual

Just a second thought, they have camper vans in rust as respawn point and cook inside, would be nice and upgrade to Armored camper van

you should be able to use a normal toolbox to work on a car (like changing a tire ect) rather then a repair kit since your not actually repairing anything
I saw a dude roll a car into a safe zone last night and another dude sold it out from under him, will putting a lock on the door stop other players from being able to sell it.
yes you will need a lock which means you will need to put doors onto the vehicle before taking it to a trader :) hope this helps :)

Cool I guess. As a solo player I've not seen a car jack spawn anywhere. The car parts I've found don't seem to be storable, I thought I could just put them in the car I found until I found or bought a jack but they won't let me store it in the vehicles storage. So it all despawned before I could do anything with it. And now apparently chests disappear after 10 days no matter what so I lost everything. Really love this game but man lately these bugs and new features have just ruined it for me. I wanna get back in the game but it's just left a bad taste in my mouth.
jacks are about as common as battery drills and rebar cutters. Mostly found in garages. Car parts are huge and apart from wheels can usually not fit in cars or boxes and need to be installed or carried. A car door is about the size of 3 boxes in a cars inventory

Maybe u need to confirm the purchase for engine and battery before it does alternator. Like put 1 part and pay for it then the next
The amount of things devs can do with modular vehicles is endless. More storage space, more armor, more efficient fuel consumption, gas tanks instead of back seats, lockable modular prison sell on the backseats, some makeshift rocket launcher instead of front seat, more powerfull engines.
can anyone else think of game where a cars engine can be missing and pushing a vehicle like that in scum is a thing in any other games because i can't in my 28 yrs of life, That feature is truly amazing, its why i've always said i'm not just passionate about games but its the ideas themselves that turn into awesome features, i think its way i fcking dispise ubisoft and EA games alot of other AAA company that beat there talented work force into submission of a copy and paste frenzy, CEO sez "thy creative passions and ideas will not get in the way of my profit margins", Loving that smaller studios are coming up with fresh ideas, i really love project Zomboid for its in depth-ness, like being able to do car mechanics and break up objects or move objects like walls, furniture is a remarkable feature .

I mentioned there are bugs when i tried to put the battery in and yes the armour is very protective against explosions and gunfire etc

Instead of having medium engineering there should be books on how to maintenance cars like 5 books or something, its such a pain leveling engineering it would be easier if you could purchase the books from a trader.
Its not finniky you need to look at the blueprint and not through the glass just like building.... Im glad they give you battery with some charge in it now.... last time i brought a car it cost 500$ for a battery that was flat.... Towing is a great idea. You can push a car up hills with multiple people pushing but towing would be amazing.
What id add to this vid is that where the cost says (-1000) (-500) thats the cost to buy the part and cost to install it. If your selling parts off the car it will be (-500) (+400) which is 500scum bucks to remove the part and 400$ to sell it

I've found the more mods you put on you vehicle the more fuel you go consume, and now you pay for fuel its not really worth it. Ive taken all surplus things off the car,ie doors, seats and back hatch and it makes a big difference
uuuurh i'm not coder so this could be a ridiculous request for all i know, what about being able to have more than one person push the vehicle to allow you to push up hill maybe not super steep at a guess 15-20% gradient maybe more with a 3rd man pushing from the rear, but me thinks its would be complicated, with de-sync and physics, can't really think of complex game like scum where multiple players can manipulate the same object in unison, probably best to just getting towing implemented probably far easier to dev and code lols i'd guess

As for pushing your car to a traders, there' are few tips.
1. Use nudge forward mechanic to get elevation and use momentum to carry you thought inclines that otherwise would be impossible to cover.
2. Plan the route you'll take, don't just stick to roads, look for the smoothest angle/gradient.
You can also tac up the hill like a sail boat does when it needs to sail into the wind. Also your stamina will recover if you let off walk when going down hill. Pushed one over 10k to an outpost only took about 30mins tops.
You know they shouldve just made the whole car customization stuff exactly like how most racing games or games like GTA 5 does it
Once you bring it to the mechanic it goes right into a separate gamespace for it and when you're done it drops the customized vehicle into the world via a load screen
If you played any games like GTA 5 or just any racing game you get the idea of what I mean
Cause let's face not everything in the game has to be that realistic that it's counter intuitive and could be done a lot better and be way easier on the player

Honestly, I decided to give this game another go the other day, so downloaded it and well, I'm already bored shitless with it, the monotony of searching through cupboards etc for loot when 90% of them are empty, fucking sucks, I've always felt and still feel that if more loot was laid out like it is in DayZ, that would make it more enjoyable, but after playing for another 12 or so hours, I honestly find myself bored shitless again and frustrated with the awfully shit looting mechanics, soooo I'm unfortunately un-installing the game once again.
Letting us turn the voice lines off on traders would be nice.

Trader in survival games. The first trader was created on the first DayZ mod and this shitty trend is forced into every survival game as if it was an indispensable aspect of survival.
I hope that admins can disable traders because if not, there is no point in creating a server for this game and I will stay with DayZ.
