Fun video! I have Noodlers Cactus Fruit Eel, Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo and Diamine Syrah. I like all of them but think the first two are ones I will use most often. Thanks for comparing so many!
I own, and do like, many Noodler’s inks including the ones you’ve shared here. You discovered important facts about trial and error pairing inks, paper, and nibs. Perfect! Thanks for sharing! New sub ❣️
I wish I'd seen this video earlier. I was looking for a magenta ink and I bought Diamine Raspberry Rose, which turned out to be too brown shaded. From your swatches, I definitely like the Yama Budo and the Deep Magenta. The Realm Of The Elderlings is among the top series I've ever read. Fitzchivalry is such a wonderful main character. So much heart in his story.
So happy to see your comments on Fitz. Such a wonderful character. I was really sad to see the Fitz books end. I hope you are enjoying whatever magenta you are now using!
Nice comparisons, thank you for sharing them for us. Have you considered searching on the same paper you use in your journal so you’ll know exactly the color and performance to expect? For me, I cut out pages from my art journal/sketchbook for swatching (or use loose leaf if avail; for instance I use Arches cold press to make my own journals)
My Syrah sample was more magenta for me than your swab. Interesting. The colors look awesome. Cheers. Edit: I’m convinced my sample is off. Your vid matches the other videos.
Thank you very much for this video! I've been wondering how similar Australian Roses is to Yama-Budo, so this demonstration was super helpful! Do you find that either of them stain your pen or are difficult to clean?
Thanks a lot Amy. I absolutely love Herbin Rose Cyclamen but wanted, as a second magenta, a little darker ink. I was wondering is Noodler's Cactus Fruit was like that. After watching your video, the answer was yes... but I settled for Monteverde Gratitude.
I had several ink samples from a 2-3 years ago, maybe longer. The J. Herbin samples are the ones that are still wet and useable, certainly the Noodlers are completely dried out. Does anyone know if they can be rehydrated? Maybe with alcohol?
I haven't tried that one. Thanks for the suggestion. I've used a few Lamy inks and have had the sense they were dry - likely just in combination with whatever pen I was using. But I'll make a note of this one. Thanks!
This video was EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you for making it! 💟
Thank you so much. Seeing these next to each other is so helpful.
I appreciate knowing that. Thank you!

Great picks! Enjoy!

I strongly recommend Rohrer & Klinger "Solferino" or the very similar Califolio "Fuschia"

I haven't had a problem with staining. I've had both in demonstrators and personally haven't had an issue.

I hope you love using the Gratitude. Great color.
Yama-Budo and Diamine Deep Magenta.....they are like a kiss.
Yes! Both are great!
Very good video, Thank you
The feathering is likely due to the sharpness of that nib scratching the cellulose in the paper.

Missing Lamy Crystal Beryl.
