Your liking for brown and green inks is quite evident. I tend to gravitate towards these colours myself. I couldn’t help but notice how Diamine Sepia is quite similar to Diamine Raw Sienna with a few minor differences here and there. On the other hand, R&K’s Alt Goldgrün looks pretty similar to Diamine Safari (special edition ink). I reach for Diamine Raw Sienna and Safari quite often, but don’t have Goldgrün and Sepia. I love R&K inks and find their Verdigris and Alt Bordeaux as lovely colours. Thanks for the review.

These colours are very much up my alley. You might want to check Diamine tobacco sunburst out, of the guitar series, it's a lovely ink with great shading.

I am very much enjoying “The Butcher of St. Peter’s” and “A friar’s bloodfeud” is on the way. Thank you for the daily inspiration my friend. My wife delights in my Ink-covered fingers now and I write as much as time will allow- for the pure joy of it.

That's really good to hear - glad you like Butcher - it was a book that I thought about for quite a long time before writing it, but the story really worked well for me. As to Friar - the pub mentioned in it is still fabulous! Thanks for those comments - and I am very happy that my videos haven't cause ructions in the house!

The local pen show (virtual again this year) is ordering a special GREEN ink from KWZ! I can’t wait to get a bottle. And now, of course, I am looking more seriously at the browns from the Diamine line. That Dark Brown looks reddish to me; beautiful, but very distinct from the other browns you showed.

Very nice comparison, indeed! It would be great to compare other similar colors - like the shades of blues together, and the shades of oranges together, etc. Diamine & KWZ have lovely blues. Diamine Florida Blue is one of my favorites. Thank you for taking the time to share these ink colors with us (and the paper too!).

@@writerlywitterings Yes, I do understand - it is not important at all, of course. I was thinking out loud (or thinking in writing?? lol) I have actually started to make card swabs of all of my inks and place them in a binder (using baseball card 3-ring binder inserts). It creates a beautiful color catalog.

Love KWZ inks and Honey shades very good. Very useful that you write on different papers, specialy on affordable ones. In USA at Walgreens and CVS pharmacies and stores, they have agreements with companies in Vietnam to make their proprietary paper (Wexford and Caliber) aprox 80-150 sheets depending on the size of notebook or loose sheets for $1.50- 3.30 us dlls with 50% off on sale after school cycle begun. Only Made in Vietnam, if made in USA it won't work. Thank you and see you soon! Be safe🎨🖋🥰

Caliber is good paper. Not as good as the really expensive fountain pen papers, but still good quality. When I can get it, I use it as a daily task paper for times when very expensive paper isn't necessary.
I've heard Vietnam makes other very good paper, but I haven't yet found any. I wish more of their paper were actually labeled as being fountain pen friendly. I think it would be easier to find, and would sell better.
Caliber is a good example. If they would put it in a notebook such as Rhodia and Tomoe River, etc., comes it, and put "Funtain Pen Friendly" on the cover in big letters, it would sell like crazy.

@@sistergoldenhair0727 I've learned from reviewers online and youtube. What they do, is right at the middle-end days before school cycle begins or once they put Sale Discountd, they go to every store with notebooks and buy the cheapest and try different inks. They post their results and ask for a "coffee" donation. Fountain Pen Network online is another great forum. Thank you for your comment; I am very new to this, but I like to share. Hi, James, I've found that "Banditapple" made superb paper, but I suspect they aren't in business now, sadly. It's a shame because they used old French machinery/recipes, and they worked superbly well with my pens. I'm going to hunt down more Vietnamese papers, I think, to review.

Thank you! I dislike green tinges in yellow inks - You saved me from an error. All I have to do now is to try Autumn Oak against Honey Sunburst... I can see two small bottles in the post. You know the special ones Diamine do which won't allow me to get bigger pens into them. Such a very British cockup. Chuckles.
Time and again I find Diamine make an 'equivalent' to some of the premium choice inks and their quality is well up to scratch. E.G. Mont Blank Royal Blue and Diamine Imperial Blue are close from the nib and both are superb. This is why I like your Diamine focussed reviews.
Ever tried Jing Tea (Online)? Spoil yourself. The price is all about quality, not premium pricing. They're actually good value.
Anyway, thanks for yet another super review.

That was a perfect video for me, I am always looking for sepia-is types of inks. I am surprised that you didn't put Ochre from Diamine in the mix. As for Writer's Blood, I know it sounds stupid, but have you tried to shake the bottle? I have the most gorgeous variations of dark red/purple to vibrant undertones of pink when I use it, arguably one of my favourite. Jess

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  3 роки тому

On Ochre - it was one I was going to look at, but then ... well, there's only so much time for me to make and edit videos, and it seemed one too many.
On the Writer's Blood - thanks for that. I'll give it a try. No, it hadn't occurred to me to shake the bottle - I don't have to with Diamine inks generally - the shimmering types with particles in obviously need a shake, but not the usual inks, so it didn't occur to me. I will try that. Thanks for the idea.

Good test. I do find, however, that the pen and nib can make as much of a change in color as the paper. Often more so. I know you can't test every paper, every pen, and every nib. Even trying would be silly. But even with the same paper, there are inks I love or hate, depending on the pen and nib I use it with.

Hello and thanks for the ink comparisons, very interesting. I have discovered that if I put a lot of Golden Syrup in my porridge it also has a slightly green tinge to it! It doesn't matter whether it is out of the tin or a plastic squeezy bottle. Perhaps it is something to do with yellow/gold/honey shades that they have a green tint to them? I don't like the slightly green tinge so when writing I use cream paper that seems to cancel it.
