The "thing" is an air brake and it creates air resistance as it is being "lifted".Depending on how the angle it is on , it can slow the plane down or make it lower to the ground.
10:18 if no one else has said it yet (and I'm sure someone has by now, but I'm not going to read through 600 comments to find out, so I'll say it just in case), yeah, that's just an air brake. You can see them on a real f-15 by simply googling "f-15 air brake". It slows the plane down because drag. Lots and lots of drag.
As a warning, I broke my MP 03's wing. The safest way to transform his wings from jet to robot mode is to flip up those 2 pegs that slot into his back first. that releases the the flat piece located in the center of his back with the skinny die cast part. lift that up next. then you unpeg the pointy part of his wings from his shoulder area and then you lift the back of his wing up to peg into his back. if you keep wiggling the wings loose, you can risk cracking his hinges that rotate the wings u
This guy really is a must have for my collection. I doubt i will replace my original Masterpiece Starscream and Skywarp, but at least I will have all 3 seekers in MP scale. G1 Thundercracker was my very first Transformer as a kid. Luckily, one of my friends already told me this MP version will be my birthday present from him this year LOL
If you were still wondering what the thing is behind the cockpit that flips up, it's an air brake that deploys when thrust is lowered to help decelerate
Optibotimus, for someone that doesn't know about planes your guesses are Good. In the nose cone the dish inside is a radar and the sliding panel on the back is called an airbrake, which slows down the plane by restricting the airflow over the top of the plane. Anyhow brilliant review!
@ 26:24 into your video is what I'm talking about. you pulled the wing out to wedge it into the center back piece. when you do that you pull the hinge at an angle its not supposed to be in. keep doing that and they will stress and break. transform the center back piece last and fold down the two pegs on top of it to lock the center piece in.
yup I have the skywarp. I commented a little too quick on that one. I grabbed my skywarp and checked him out. he is of the older mold. The new thundercracker looks so much better with the improvements!
Yes! I just got this guy, like, a couple weeks ago from my local TRU, and he is AWESOME! They only had two left, and i'm kinda pissed that I totally forgot about the whole "BUY ONE GET ONE HALF OFF" thing they were having at the time, or else I would have bought the other and sold it to my friend to make some cash. Whatever! I'm so happy with this guy.
Awesome review! Extra flaps on the top and back are air-breaks for when the F-15 lands. Didn't realize all of the differences in the mold. Great tips and review!!
THANK YOU so much for these videos! The instructions suck and I watch ALL of your videos with my 7 year old son so we can do them together. Your commentary is perfect, I don't ever have to worry about language being inappropriate and we are always amazed how you remember every step. Thanks again... you have really given me a great opportunity to have quality time with my son and learn about these amazing toys! PLEASE keep doing them! :)
The balljointed pieces on the blasters are there so you don't have to detach them from the arms to put them on the wings. the MP 11 instructions has it in it. Peaughs review of MP 11 shows it. Great review as always. Oh and there was a WALMART exclusive of Masterpiece Skywarp. I think hes still pretty easy to find if you interested.
I have the Walmart Masterpiece Skywarp, and you’ve taught me a few new tricks. And yes, that panel in jet mode is an air-break for slowing down. Nice vid!
If you had posted this video yesterday, I would have been very jealous. I went to TRU this morning and ran into a girl I knew almost 20 years ago that recognized me. She's an asst mgr there. She made some calls and found 1 for me at another store that was just unloading their truck with them on it. I couldn't get there fast enough. And now that I know she works there, I have a hook-up for when Optimus comes out :) P.S. I just got skywarp a few weeks ago so now I need starscream
And the ball jointed null rays are there so you don't need to detach them while transforming. Keep them on the arms and swing them out when you want to peg them into the wings.
Nice review. I keep picking him up and puting him back down every time I'm in Toys r US to see if they've filled the mp-10 space since the last people raided it. They have about eight of these sitting on the self. They haven't moved for roughly a week now.
you are not meant to take the guns off the arms. I have sunstorm MP11S and you are just to curve the null rays into the wings without actually taking them out of the ball joints
Thanks for the detailed review! Helped me a lot! ....bit annoying that the instructions are of the older MP Seeker mold rather than the retooled version!
Nice review. By the way those flaps in the null rays that keep poping off are for transformation, they alow you to transform him without removing them.
I think you can leave the ball joint of the null rays attached to the arms and still peg the cannons on his wings in plane mode. That's the reason they put a double ball-jointed piece in there.
cant wait to get this guy, i think it'll look even better since i have the hasbro Skywarp (forgot who held it), and i think it'll look good with them standing together, creating more character for each one, considering how stealty Skywarp liked to be (correct me if im wrong) so he'll look more sleek and smooth, much like the old starscream mold
The null rays are on ball joints because you don't need to pop them off when you transform them anymore like MP-3. If you rotate them correctly, they will peg into their correct position under the wings WHILE still being inside their respective ball joints. That means this figure can transform completely without having to pop off any parts. I know there is a review of MP-11 out there that shows you this. Hope that helps, makes me appreciate this figure soooo much more.
Fantastic review as always. Hopefully I can get my hands on one of these...hopefully if they release another updated version of the seeker mold they'll fix the whole torso not staying together thing.
The nose thing is a radar, the pop open things in the back middle are Engine bays, the slide open thing on top is a Speed Break the back things on the side are called Stabs.
Hey, the "null" rays are put on ball joints so that you don't have to remove them in transformation. They extend from the arms in robot mode on the ball joints and clip under the wings in jet mode, all without removing them. Love your reviews!!!
Yes. You have your choice between two different Hasbro/Takara versions. The first one was exclusive in Japan and is very expensive and the second one that they made was a Wal-Mart exclusive which was released in the states. They are no longer available in stores because they came out years ago but you can easily find them on ebay. You can also buy another version from the company igear which has a much better mold than the one released by Hasbro/Takara.
Great review botimus. I'm still looking for this figure not ready to pay scalper prices yet. I belive the piece you are unsure of in jet mode is an airbrake. As in the movie Top Gun when Mavrik said I'll hit the brakes and he'll fly right by. Hope to find this soon because now I'll def have to have it.
regardless of the trolls, Optibotimus, keep'em reviews coming man. I love them. Usually your reviews makes me decide on the bots that i wanna buy. and after seeing your review on FOC Bruticus, am getting that bad boy this month.
A ToysRUs near me happened to get 2 in... I can only add to your review that it is simply a fantastic Master Piece. Dare I say better than Optimus Prime? But yes I was also confused by the box and attempted to figure out why he didn't have a second head lol Its a fantastic head sculpt and I can't complain too much. Nice catch on the air break, didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. Nice review!
Really hope for a Skywarp repaint of this version too. Though what I'd really love would be a 'build it yourself' version like Gunpla Gundam kits. Then just paint it any way you want it. Then again could just do that myself with a Thundercracker if I could get him down into components well enough.
I don't like this review that much. first of all, you popped the blasters out of their ball socket. They were expertly designed so you don't have to. Also, the cod piece folds out so you can push the canopy down further. It doesn't lock it but he would be less floppy.
guys...mp thundercracker available at TRU Times Square NY. I bought 3 to repaint the other 2 in starscream and skywarp colors cuz this is the BEST seeker mold by far. Asked the manager, its their last lot so go get'em before the scalpers get there. Thumbs up so others can see.
Optiobotumis 10:00 that is a air break it is used to slow down the jet even more when its landing and when you opened the nose cone yes that was the radar dish
Here's hoping they'll do another "corrected" MP Starscream. Great review!! I got two of these and they stays in the box. Real tempted to take one out though.
Great freaking review man, i keep driving to TRU to pick this figure up and my gf laughs cause they never have it, ill get it sometime, keep up the great reviews man
Great review, I love this figure, I love masterpiece's, but they are so big that I really have no good place to display them, My masterpiece Grimlock, which is the only one I picked up, because I just could not pass him up, is still on a shelf in my closet because I have no place to display him. Even my Takara reissue of Devistator with power parts sits in their respective boxes for the same reason. I will probably pass this one like I did with Masterpiece Hot Rodimus or whatever name they used.
Did Thundercracker have null rays? I always figured he was just using the same model but had different weapons as only Starscream used a null ray in the show.
wasn't sure if i wanted to get this one but after watching your review a few weeks ago, just came in today and its better in hand then on screen....lol
I think starscream has F-15 FAST packs ( conformal bolt on fuel and extra weapons racks) thundercracker dosent seem to have them and you are right the pop up flap on the back is a speedbrake ( supposed to help slow the plane) nice machine there
Where Starscream having a dark grey face in the cartoon is concerned, that falls in the category of the different colors that I mentioned. I can understand what you're saying about giving the toys different facial expressions to individualize them, however, in the cartoon they all still looked the exact same with the exception of the obvious color differences and of course they could make the same facial expressions. I do like your point about the facial expressions for the toys.
I have Starscream and Skywarp. I got Skywarp from Toyworld. And typical Hasbro stuffup, he comes with two RIGHT hands. lol And just like the Classic Thundercracker, the MP version is third to be released.
Minus the completely obvious nose cone on the back for his backpack, and the fact that the torso does not lock into anything, would you recommend buying it, and if so, how much do you think is a fair price paying for it?
And if you respond to this with something like, "Then go ahead and unsubscribe if you don't like my comments" than I've already proven my point. It's viewers like me and everyone else here that are helping pay your bills, since this is now your full time job. Now let's get back to your regularly scheduled amazing detailed reviews. That's why I subscribe! :)

just got this for $100 which I think is a steal 4 years after the release 😁
wolfybezurkydonk my Freind helped me buy the kbb knock off due to a deal involving cow eyeballs
I’m about to get one for $100 on Tuesday 😳
Just got it for $90 out of box today :) 9 years later? Ain’t half bad
The part that comes up behind the canopy is an air brake. They use them when landing as far as I know. It uses drag to help slow the F-15 down.
If you were still wondering what the thing is behind the cockpit that flips up, it's an air brake that deploys when thrust is lowered to help decelerate
A very nice MP seeker. The deco looks really good on this mold. Thanks for the look.
Optibotimus, for someone that doesn't know about planes your guesses are Good. In the nose cone the dish inside is a radar and the sliding panel on the back is called an airbrake, which slows down the plane by restricting the airflow over the top of the plane. Anyhow brilliant review!
I still have the Original Thundercracker from the early 80s! I love all the planes, made sure I bought them all or got them all as a young kid.
if I had a dollar for everytime he said actually
Levi Blanchard if I had a dollar for when he says "down and around" in his videos
If I had a when dollar for when he says “just like so”
@ 26:24 into your video is what I'm talking about. you pulled the wing out to wedge it into the center back piece. when you do that you pull the hinge at an angle its not supposed to be in. keep doing that and they will stress and break. transform the center back piece last and fold down the two pegs on top of it to lock the center piece in.
I got masterpiece sunstorm
yup I have the skywarp. I commented a little too quick on that one. I grabbed my skywarp and checked him out. he is of the older mold. The new thundercracker looks so much better with the improvements!

Extra flaps on the top and back are air-breaks for when the F-15 lands.
Didn't realize all of the differences in the mold. Great tips and review!!
AWWESOME!!! finally they made ThunderCracker more affordable. Have to have one!
THANK YOU so much for these videos! The instructions suck and I watch ALL of your videos with my 7 year old son so we can do them together. Finally this thing makes it to the States. I know what I want for Christmas.
Thanks allot Botimus. I had sworn off these after both my masterpeice starscreams broke. Now I want this.
That thing at his middle back in jet mode is an air brake, used to slow a plane down during landings.
The thing under his nose cone is a radar dish.
And the ball jointed null rays are there so you don't need to detach them while transforming. Keep them on the arms and swing them out when you want to peg them into the wings.
The fighter jet mode looks awesome!
this is crazy that iv just got my masterpiece starscream and this is uploaded. its awesome, not too many changes, but very nice subtle improvements
The disk inside the nosecone is a radar disk, and the flap on the back of the plane mode is an airbreak to slow the plane down for various reasons.
Tj Duckett's review and pictures of this figure are amazing. Still good review Paul and this figure is a must buy!
oh wow, i didnt know they were doing repaints of the new seeker mold this soon! looks like i can finally complete my masterpiece seekers
I was on the fence about this MP, but this review helped me to make up my mind. Thanks!
Thanks for the detailed review! Helped me a lot! ....bit annoying that the instructions are of the older MP Seeker mold rather than the retooled version!

Great Review :)
Did Hasbro also release a Skywarp? I really do like this character, the toy is amazing
We have Sunstorm and Acidstorm for this mold but not a Skywarp mold XD
Acidstorm not rain just saying bro
cant wait to get this guy, i think it'll look even better since i have the hasbro Skywarp (forgot who held it), and i think it'll look good with them standing together, creating more character for each one, considering how stealty Skywarp liked to be (correct me if im wrong) so he'll look more sleek and smooth, much like the old starscream mold
Wow to the cod piece breaking. Is it salvagable at all?
The null rays are on ball joints because you don't need to pop them off when you transform them anymore like MP-3. If you rotate them correctly, they will peg into their correct position under the wings WHILE still being inside their respective ball joints. That means this figure can transform completely without having to pop off any parts. I know there is a review of MP-11 out there that shows you this. Hope that helps, makes me appreciate this figure soooo much more.
Fantastic review as always. Hopefully I can get my hands on one of these...hopefully if they release another updated version of the seeker mold they'll fix the whole torso not staying together thing.
Thats indeed very nice color scheme for this figure.
Nice, I'm probably getting it for christmas. Seekers are awesome
The nose thing is a radar, the pop open things in the back middle are Engine bays, the slide open thing on top is a Speed Break the back things on the side are called Stabs.
toys r us exclusive masterpieces are THE BEST!
Hey, the "null" rays are put on ball joints so that you don't have to remove them in transformation. They extend from the arms in robot mode on the ball joints and clip under the wings in jet mode, all without removing them. Love your reviews!!!
Another fine review, sir. I can't wait to find this guy and pick him up at my local TRU!
Holy hell! That is one lovely looking Transformer.

Just a quick shout opti, the radar dish in the nose cone is where actual f-15s radar is located. Just a friendly fyi. ^.^
10:00 it's an air brake- it slows the plane down. =D
i got this foigure yesterday and i like him but i wish there was more tabs to keep him intact mostly in the cest area
That thingy inside the nose is the radar for the aircraft. Also the thing that flips out behind the cockpit is called an air brake.
nice review optibotimus. i've now gotta keep my eye out for him, i love thundercracker.
you know ive had the Wallmart Skywarp sense it came out and I had NO idea he had pegs on the wings...Thanks Paul!
10:20 , great guess! Lol. It is used to slow down the plane, though I don't want to get techy and get blocked --"
The thing on folding up behund the cockpit is the F15 airbrake which is a bit larger IRL and extremely effective
I like how the cockpit seat can turn so it's upright in robot mode.
I was wondering why I couldn't find the second face. Thanks for the info!
Not sure if it’s my headphones, but your voice slowly drifts from one side to the other :) kinda trippy!
I don't like this review that much. first of all, you popped the blasters out of their ball socket. They were expertly designed so you don't have to. Also, the cod piece folds out so you can push the canopy down further. It doesn't lock it but he would be less floppy.

Great review! Loved the commentary, and now I think I'll look at getting the masterpiece line as a collectible instead of the Encore edition.
Optiobotumis 10:00 that is a air break it is used to slow down the jet even more when its landing and when you opened the nose cone yes that was the radar dish
you miss something: he's great, but I respect your choice
great review, Thunder has always been my favorite Seeker
Here's hoping they'll do another "corrected" MP Starscream. Great review!! I got two of these and they stays in the box. Real tempted to take one out though.
Great review as alwayz dude! he looks absolutley awesome to have! cant wait till he shows up here! lol..very nicely done! :D
:D
He’s modelled after an F15 eagle fighter jet ❤
Badass and beautiful looking aircraft
You are correct. That slide thing is a speed brake.
Great freaking review man, i keep driving to TRU to pick this figure up and my gf laughs cause they never have it, ill get it sometime, keep up the great reviews man
I have both SS and TC and u can get it to sit just a little bit lower
Great review, I love this figure, I love masterpiece's, but they are so big that I really have no good place to display them, My masterpiece Grimlock, which is the only one I picked up, because I just could not pass him up, is still on a shelf in my closet because I have no place to display him. I will probably pass this one like I did with Masterpiece Hot Rodimus or whatever name they used.
@optibotimus That's a really good point. I'm really interested in how they would turn out.
it's also a beautiful piece is it like the skywarp master piece fig?
@10:16 your right.
It is used to slow the plane down
i kinda like those skirts on starscream's hips, they look like a long coat and they give starscream like the great leader that he wants to be
awesome help man :D will continue to watch every single one of your videos
I see the torso isn't sliding all the way down, did you know the central crotch piece can fold out a little? that could give more cleareance
Did Thundercracker have null rays? I always figured he was just using the same model but had different weapons as only Starscream used a null ray in the show.
wasn't sure if i wanted to get this one but after watching your review a few weeks ago, just came in today and its better in hand then on screen....lol
As much as I love thundercracker, I cant afford this AND mp-10. You can never have enough Optimus. Hopefully he releases soon!
I think starscream has F-15 FAST packs ( conformal bolt on fuel and extra weapons racks) thundercracker dosent seem to have them and you are right the pop up flap on the back is a speedbrake ( supposed to help slow the plane) nice machine there
can't wait for the MP-11 review and the MP Sunstorm review
@Cadcomputers might be for a future coranation attachment. basically all the seeker molds are the same. so this makes sense.
agreed. and im 15 and have been doing it since i was 3. g1 is the best.
Where Starscream having a dark grey face in the cartoon is concerned, that falls in the category of the different colors that I mentioned. Wonderful reveiw. Where were you on monday? I don't have facebookor trwitter so I'm a little lost on things.
Can you take off the extra decal like soundwave at the back and reflector on the side without damaging the actual figure paint?
U should review mp- 11 Starscream next. I want that one SO bad!! I hope my mom'll be able to get me it for Christmas
Isnt skywarp out now?
yea,look it up on amazon.com
The Rampage Gamer you know I took a look on bbts andnit wasnt there, that's why I asked. Thanks
a great review like always ill pick my up soon thank you
