Thanks for a fantastic review! I’m a Macross/Robotech/“Jetfire” fan who’s been looking at some of the various versions for purchase to relive some of my childhood, and your videos have been invaluable in finding the differences between the variations for sale.

I've read complaints about stress marks while doing the transformation on this model.

Gotta buy the white ones so you can't see the stress marks

Awsome review. I really like the Bandai rendition of VF-1A. I already have VF-1S and Pre-ordered VF-1J Max edition. I hope that they recolor this mold into VF-1A Max TV version

Why everyone just keep on saying "intake turbine"? The turbine cannot be seen from the intake...

At least I stopped calling them "Inner hip propellers" right?

Well, this is the first time I've ever heard "Inner hip propellers". :) Thanks for posting this video. I'm a Macross fan (not Robotech...) since 1982, but have never lay a hand on these. now I am trying to find my first VF-1A (goo.gl/USCpSr). Smaller one first.

Since they went that far with all the accessories, they should have added side covers. I hate those gaps under the shoulders.

I've just started collecting some Macross/Robotech items. I'm surprised and happy that bandai even made a toy of the cannon-fodder (or jobber planes) units. i ordered the Hi-Metal VF-1J hikaru Ichijo. i want to add this but it's too expensive.

Can you leave the normal cockpit on in Robot mode or do you absolutely need the Heat shield piece?

I've added a link to the transformation video at the end of the video. Quick answer is that if you don't swap in the heat shield the tab in the chest will lay on top of the canopy and the chest won't seat properly.

In all the best animated episodes from the show, the wings were full-length in battroid mode....so I never use the short wings.

maybe the small tv pilots can fit the cockpit of the monster unit.
