@Oscar Guerrero Yeah in the early 2000s all figs were yellow even the Harry Potter and Starwars ones so it doesn’t make much sense to me why LEGO chanced that

“Bucky’s face” actually first appeared on Owen Grady in 2014, then Star Lord in 2014, then Bucky in 2016, then Star Lord in 2017 Also the Peter Parker face was first used on Henry which is why it looks exactly like Brenton Thwaites and it was exclusive to the Silent Mary
ironically, after getting my hands on the new Chris Pratt face, i started using the old one on my ant man because to me that old print really looks like Paul Rudd to me
I think it would be pretty cool if characters who are played by the same actors shared the same Lego minifigures face prints instead of just random characters
The nailed this with Star Lord and Owen Grady but at this point I don’t even know if they’ll keep it up with the new Owen head for any new Star Lord figures
imo Young Han's face works a lot better for Hawkeye than it ever did for Han or Cedric, I feel like the face LEGO made was very much trying to portray a young Harrison Ford rather than Young Han's actor. Btw, Star-Lord's head was used for him 2 years before they used it for Bucky
I agree, even though Hawkeye should've had the older Han's face. Heck, there's even one in the Carbon Freeze chamber with a worried, open mouth, with works PERFECTLY for his Ronin character in the movie.
Lego: Is literally the leading toy manufacturer with the most profit Also Lego: “We need to cut costs so generic minifigure face #873 will have to do.”
I didn’t count the CMF and as for the yellow heads I get to angry that when it was harder to make more faces they made new ones but when it’s a lot simpler she gets the same old one.
you know what's a really good face print they should have used for that Bearded Shang Chi character? The Coachman from the Pirate's of the Caribbean London Escape.
To be fair the Draco face was originally used for Kaz from Star Wars: Resistance who might be of Asian descent. However, that character is younger than Shang-Chi and especially Happy Hogan.
personally I don't mid the shared heads, I think it works for slightly similar looking people and using them and not going into *too* much detail like with the Clone Wars faces. The whole skin tone thing irks me but oh well. Just some quick fixers for the video, it wasn't used with Draco first it was with Kaz from Star Wars Resistance in January of 2019 and the "Bucky" head was used first for Chris Pratt in Guardians of the Galaxy and then the Jurrasic World Sets. Bucky used the head first in 2016, 2 years after it was first used if I am correct.
I remember the excitement of seeing a new actor get represented in Lego for the first time - e.g. the Jake Gyllenhaal face from Prince of Persia! It really is annoying getting the same generic faces over and over now, it takes that excitement right out of it. Great job highlighting this Holly 👏
One head i tend to use for Tom Holland is the Marty McFly one from Lego Dimensions, as i found that it looks a bit like him, as it has bit of a youthful look to it
the funny thing is about Lex Luther & Bruce Wayne in LEGO Batman The Movie DC Superheroes United they have the same face but different voice actors since Clancy Brown did Lex Luther & Troy Baker did Bruce Wayne
They made a PERFECT Loki head in 2017 for Ragnarok and then they just used the Lex Luthor head in the new juniors set. Also, why wasn’t the also PERFECT Chris Pratt head made for Jurassic World used for Star-Lord in Infinity War?
This is why I'm going through and replacing heads with custom heads from Firestar Toys cos Sabine from Rebels is not white so I've got her a skin tone that is more represented of her skin tone.
Lego Marvel Avengers cast be like Iron Man - Robert Downey Jr. Captain America - Chris Evans Thor - Chris Hemsworth and sometimes Aquaman Hulk - Mark Ruffalo Black Widow - Generic Female Face usually Hawkeye - Chris Evans Spiderman - Tom Holland Ant Man - Tom Holland
My thing is, I like to switch out different minifigure heads, that I feel look more accurate to the actor. Like, with Bucky, I replaced it with Poe Damerons head. It really frustrates me to see lego recycling minifigure heads.
Finally someone makes a video about this. Also, Bellatrix uses a face print in the new burrow set that was used for mantis who isn’t even a freaking human. Dammit LEGO if one of your slogans is “only the best is good enough” then either freaking live up to it or don’t say it, but if you don’t say it you would kind of be shaming Ole Kirk Christiansen since it was his motto. So live up to it LEGO.
Personally the two that look the least like the actors are the Mandarin and Jessie Eisenberg Lex Luthor, the generic smiley face print of two dots and a smile looks more accurate.
How can we have new molds for almost every vidyo character, which are 5 and 20 dollars, but then we can't even get a new face print for named characters? I understand City, and the stormtroopers, but licensed characters using the same head? Characters in the same themes? Characters in the same set (Tanker Truck Take Down)? What the heck Lego?
I mean its a tad difficult to represent a wookie with the same flesh coloured draco face :P . But on a more serious note its probably to do with how successful the lines are.
Chris evans somehow looks like Jeremy Renner in the Civil War sets. Also Jennifer Aniston somehow looks like Scarlet Johnson??? Also why doesn't Rachel have a smiling expression? Its a sitcom.
Honestly, Lego is so confusing. We got brand-new exclusive face prints for the Stranger Things kids in a $200 set, yet Lego can't be bothered to give anyone a proper face in the $400 Diagon Alley set?
Lego ALWAYS cheaps out on Marvel's diverse movies such as Black Panther and Captain Marvel. BP they came out with only TWO sets and Captain Marvel getting only ONE set plus on the Captain Marvel minifigure they re-used Qira's face print AND Black Widow's hair shape! ...Both those movies were the best selling solo superhero movies of the late 2010s.
Awesome video Holly! Definitely agree on all accounts. I was so disappointed seeing that the Shang-Chi sets used "white" faces when the majority of the characters are Asian and this would've been a massive opportunity for LEGO to give us more unique Asian-coded heads/prints! When else will LEGO be making minifigs based on an almost entirely Asian cast? What a wasted opportunity.
But Asian skin tones vary and aren’t all one shade. I’m Asian and feel the lighter tone is more accurate to Simu Liu. We need to be looking at the heads based on tone, rather than designating one specifically for an ethnicity.
The funny thing is, even the Ant Man/Peter Parker face looks better on the Batman v Superman Lex Luthor than the reuse they went with. Edit: Just realized that face didn't exist at the time his set came out, I think
Thank you for making this video and finally addressing legos incompetence Also can we stop calling it the luthor face IT WASNT HIS FIRST Bruce Wayne and Loki had it way before luthor used it in 2016
It does strongly resemble a Comic-book Lex Luthor, so that's why it keeps getting called that.. 🤔 But I see it and think of Bruce Wayne, so I hear you on this one 👍
With liscenced sets, particularly movie tie in sets, there is little incentive for Lego to make unique face prints. They’ll be on shelves for a year and a half maybe for a film that will lose its merchandise buzz in about 6 months at that. Movie comes out. Lego releases set to cash in on movie or show. Movie or show ends its run. Set retires. Honestly, if they did have accurate actor faces, theyd look creepy. Minifigs all have the same eyes and no nose (for most part) to be as universal as possible. You couldnt get really accurate even if you wanted to.
Lol, I hadn't even thought about different themes, ages, and ethnicities... here I was being annoyed when two people in the same theme/line use the same head.
I am sick of those angry clone faces. Like even all troopers that are not clones use them. Stormtroopers are not clones. They replaced clones with normal humans after the clone wars. On clones it makes sense but not on stormtroopers
This video: *exists*
Lego: I'm gonna pretend I didn't see this.

lego: i say we same today
Kinda funny considering that was the reason that minifigures were originally all yellow.

Lego when deciding on a face print: "Is this a male with eyebrows?"
Plot twist: *LEGO never reuses faces and for some reason, they end up looking identical*

Well its just they don’t want to make new faces cause it is quite expensive to mass produce new faces although its the exact same ink.
When the LEGO’s Character Designer becomes so lazy, they just toss in heads to save them money and time
Yeah! To me it makes me not want to get some of the Lego sets from these because how lazy they were.

I use the Poe head for Ant-Man bc of the stubble. Now with the Marvel CMF I finally have a proper Bucky face
The Marty Mcfly face would be amazing for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker
I use the old Luke Skywalker face (ca. 2010-2011) for him, I think the 8092 Landspeeder was the cheapest set with it
