    I don't understand why Campagnolo can't make stuff more simple...

    What kind of mechanic doesn't know how to align the wrench handle with the crank arm when removing pedals or cranks, and doesn't know to take the bike off of the stand and place the frame against a solid surface before hammering pressed-in parts out? So painful to watch amateur technique. Hope others aren't copying him.

    • @hansschotterradler3772
      @hansschotterradler3772 9 місяців тому +2

      Stiffness attracts more force; a basic engineering principle. You're actually apply more stress to the frame when the bike is on a hard surface when hammering out pressed-in parts. While the bike is almost free to swing in the stand; almost no force is transmitted into the frame.

    • @svenweihusen57
      @svenweihusen57 9 місяців тому

      @@hansschotterradler3772force doesn’t vanish. The frame is flexing aka there is less force applied to the part you want to take out while a lot of force is applied to the point where the bike is fixed to the stand and along the whole frame to this point. Aka you need to apply a lot more force because you need the force to break the part lose plus the amount lost due to the flexing.I certainly wouldn’t trust the frame any longer after this treatment.

      I thought you were heavy handed with the bike as well - if this is a client's bike then was it you who fitted the pedals in the first place as they were way overtight.

    Pretty laughable the number of people moaning about switching from Campy to Shimano. So what if the bike is 100g heavier. Not going to notice that on the road with the exception of the bigger cassette range for climbing.
    Pretty sure cost was a contributing factor over spending massively on Campy Record over Shimano 105.

    Instead of every so called bike genius complaining about fitting japanese 11-speed groupset over Italian 10-speed groupset on an Italian branded bike, do some research on why the customer wasn't willing to pay for an overpriced 11-speed campagnolo groupset.
    As for the method of building, nothing wrong with his methods or practices.

    • @_elChapo
      @_elChapo 2 місяці тому

      you are right, and bianchi also puts shimano and sram on their bikes from the factory, and even they have no problems with it, but as saying tells "from the couch you can see everything better"😁...maybe campagnolo would be more appropriate on a vintage bike to keep the spirit of Italy so to speak, but if u build a vintage bike its not about performance and the money you pay for it, it's more about aesthetics.

    I like to set the limit screws without a chain, just by moving the deralieur by hand. then I messure the chainlenght on short/short with minimal chain tension. if the components fit each other there is no problem in big/big eather. and the bar tape had to end earlier, so the full FSA logo would be exposed. You´ve added over 100g by switching to shimano that was not so satisfining... I would have installed a second hand mecanical record instead.

    I'm confused. Did he just swap a Campa cassette for a Shimano cassette??? Like it's the most normal thing to do? Like freehubs fit all? I am a self thaught bike mecanic (thanks internet, youtube) and in the 5 years I'm making a living out of it I did a lot of retro race bike restorations. One of the first things I learned is that compatibility is not a given. Clients demand to just swap a part of a certain brand and generation for something completely different. Then I start summing up all the problems and complications I will come across trying to make their ideas work. What am I missing here?

    • @trekkeruss

      Shimano cables are not pre-lubricated. Rather, Shimano injects a special grease into the plastic housing liner. Wiping the cable removes any surface dirt that would contaminate the lubricated housing liner.

    For bike that is using external cable routing, it is best to use di2. This will leave you with 2 cables instead of 4 and make the overall appearance much nicer. If this were my bike, i would have it completely stripped, then send for a new paint job. After that, install a ultegra di2. Or sell away this bike and buy a new bike. Either way, your customer would be much happier.😂
