I disagree highly with this list. I will not be accepting any Stone Cold Shark Boy slander from anyone, cause that gimmick was epic, and no one can change my opinion on it.
I agree...I'm not sure it belongs on the list because, well, it was Shark Boy. It elevated him a fair bit and gave him more TV time than he'd had in the past. The gimmick change was successful in that respect.
Stone Cold Shark Boy was for a short time in 2008 one of the most entertaining things in mainstream wrestling. Black Machismo didn't have a long shelf life but took a guy who was just another great wrestler in the X Division and got him well and truly over. I don't think either should be anywhere near this list.
Joe having Taz as a manager, a guy whose motto was literally ‘fuck the world’, and then deciding to give the title to Angle and join the Main Event Mafia is so backwards. A swerve for the sake of a swerve.
I’ll grant you most of this list, but I gotta drop a hard disagree on Black Machismo. Sure, it wasn’t going to put him in the main event and it probably doesn’t stand up to his work in ROH; but it’s infinitely more entertaining and productive than whatever he’s doing in AEW with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh now. 🤷🏻♂️
@@johnstone9396 Sonjay Dutt is a legend, and they’re in the business to make money not to show off indy talents, i love Gresham but that man ain’t a draw.

The fact you pointed out Jay Lethal being a living legend in wrestling and called Sonjay Dutt never been when Lethal’s most known feud was against Sonjay Dutt. And for what it’s worth, i believe Gresham and Lethal are both better workers, but Gresham’s overall career is not even in the same tier as Dutt’s and Lethals.
When you said "Sonjay Dutt to The Guru" the first thing that popped into my head was "They didn't base him off of that god awful Mike Myers movie did they??"
It might have been that other Guru film from 2002 starring Heather Graham and Marisa Tomei. The Mike Myers one came out a year later after the gimmick was already established.

Yall TRIPPIN!! Black Machismo and Stone Cold Shark Boy were GREAT!! Jay Lethal even Incorporated the pomp and circumstance music into his current theme 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Say what you want to about Jay Lethal's "Black Machismo" gimmick: As a fan of Randy "The Macho Man" Savage, I thought it was rather entertaining. To be fair, a lot of other people I know of who are pro wrestling fans that knew of the "Black Machismo" gimmick & liked Randy "The Macho Man" Savage, respectively were 100% fine with it.
Daffney as the governor was a good but admittedly unoriginal idea. I really enjoyed 'The Guru' Sonjay Dutt too. Gotta love a stupid gimmick every now and then.

I agree with most on the list except Shark Boy. Watching back his old TNA stuff or his more recent appearances and they still make me laugh. He was great.
I remember seeing Jay Lethal being full as an impersonator of Randy Savage. Not just the acting and costume but the entrance music of the time is nothing but a remixed version of the macho man’s entrance music.
You are dead wrong about the Rock 'N' Rave Infection. Jimmy Rave, Lance Hoyt and Christy Hemme were treading water before getting a resurgence with that gimmick. Which rocked.
While I'll agree with most of the list I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree on Black Machismo. Sure it wasn't gonna make him world champion but it was very entertaining I thoroughly enjoyed it throughout it's run and even got a kick out of it when Jay briefly brought it back at All In. So I wouldn't necessarily call it one of the worst gimmick changes.
I remember hating that Sharkboy gimmick when I was a child. He acted so much like a great value Stone Cold, that it got on my nerves & I didn’t laugh once. Nowadays I’m pretty neutral to the gimmick. I’m still not a fan, but it’s harmless. It got him over with the live crowds & that’s the most important thing. You won’t make it long in the wrestling business without the support of the fans. Besides, he got Stone Cold’s seal of approval, so good for him. 👍🦈
I disagree with the Black Machismo & Stone Cold Shark Boy entries. Even though Lethal was cosplaying as Randy, apart from the Macho Elbow, he wrestled like he would without the gimmick. The imitation gimmick just gave him a bigger spotlight. For Stone Cold Sharkboy, it was really entertaining. And, since you compared the two, let’s be real here, unlike Lethal, Shark Boy was never gonna be main event. At least the Stone Cold gimmick was extremely enjoyable, memorable, and gave Shark Boy something interesting to do.
Gimme a shell yeah! Stone Cold Shark Boy almost saved TNA! Chris Harris from the best tag team wrestler in the world to Bret Hart level whinger without the talent was occasionally hilarious.
I can't understand why you think that Impact's attempt to make Okada look interesting was bad? That was the best thing that they could do with that charisma void.
I never understood why the hell shark boy even had a job.. then when he did the stone cold stuff I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve hated a wrestler more.
The "Rat on a Pole" match would've taken on a whole other meaning if it had featured the Godfather back in the day... But have to disagree with Black Machismo and Stone Cold Shark Boy being in the list. Both gimmicks were massively over and are still remembered fondly to this day. And considering this is a company which had the Shane Twins repackaged as the Johnsons (and had both wrestle while dressed literally as giant cocks) and had the Outlaws change their gimmick to Voodoo Kin Mafia (as a pop at Vincent Kennedy McMahon, naturally) then including those two over them is mental.
I'm so glad to see someone else call out Black Machismo and Stone Cold Sharkboy as the shit gimmicks they were. They made TNA look like a second rate fed.
It’s their list their opinion, but my opinion says their opinion is trash. Bollocks even. Mostly because Black Machismo was arguably the gimmick that put Lethals name on the map. I always thought Okada was sent to TNA because NJPW knew that TNA would screw him up and they wanted to teach him humility before he made it big.
I would agree with you, if it wasn't for the fact that NJPW, terminated they're working agreement with TNA.
