Highlanders were often split on confessional lines: Episcopalians and Catholics supported the Stuarts, while Presbyterians supported the Hanoverians. James Francis Edward Stuart was the rightful monarch regardless of how many Scots supported him. Your expectations of a military campaign are unrealistic. After Culloden, Bonnie Prince Charlie commanded his mean to disperse. He didn't abandon them; he wanted to try and secure more support from France, which would be necessary for the fight to continue.

Not sure why it has two names but it may have to do with the fact that (I believe) was released by the Corries after Bill Smith left and the duo took over the rights to the recording,
