It's an amazing movie. My mom, who grew up a huge Elvis fan said it was like having him alive again for 2 hours and 39 minutes. I'd have to agree. Austin Butler is unbelievable. You;re gonna live it.

49 years a fan, I was worried about the film, but I loved it. Austin is astonishing and deserves an Oscar. The film is not entirely accurate but the artistic choices help tell the story. It does set the record straight on a lot of nonsense but concentrates on black music whereas Elvis fused many different strands to create his unique style.

I love Elvis (raised on his music but born after his death) and have seem film twice. The first viewing I was unsure of the first part, stylistically and it was a bit quick but the 2nd time I absolutely loved it and felt more emotional. I was quite nervous as a lifelong fan about what it would be like and how it would do at the box office. He's been so misrepresented for so long by the media and misconceived by the public. So exciting to see him being shown as more than a 1 dimensional mythical figure x ps Baz Luhrmann's style is not for everyone so keep an open mind and also, another heads up....it is from the viewpoint of his manager, Col Parker so it's not a traditional biopic and it's difficult to fit a 42 yr life (21 year stardom) into the 2 and half-ish hrs. I think the time flies by. Hope you enjoy x

Hey Rebekka, You’ll love it. It’s done very well and reminds people of how special a relent this man was. A lot of younger people are going and coming out with new understanding of how this man changed the world. It is narrow in its interpretation but very well done. You should watch (or even react) to his version of If I Can Dream (white suit 68 comeback) before you see it - not a spoiler but you’ll get it when you watch the movie. PS it’s already at number 4 on the top ranked music biopics of all time - amazing he’s definitely still very relevant. Who could not live Elvis if they take the time to watch the man 👨

I did not see any trailers before I went to see the movie. but I am 72 and grew up knowing about Elvis, his music, his records have such an impact on my memories that hearing certain songs reminds me of high school or college. We saw Elvis at the International Hotel in 1971 and it was awesome. this was before he got tired of it and gained weight. I especially like it when he is working with his orchestra and singers before his first Vegas perfomance. It is so Elvis and so electrifying. Austin Butler is a real find and magician. I hope u like the movie. I saw it 5 times. Its a testament to Austin's work on this movie that people now want to know who is this Guy"""??

Let us know what you think; I saw it 15 times!!! Austin Butler IS this movie and his performance is the reason for continuing to go back. Tom Hanks gets a lot of criticism for his part because American audiences have never really seen him play the bad guy., but he plays him brilliantly. The supporting cast is really good as well, but this IS Austin Butler’s movie. P.S. It does not hurt that he is drop dead gorgeous on screen as well.

Have you been living under a rock? You're just now watching the Elvis movie trailer? I do believe that it started playing in theaters the 10th of last month June 2022. I'm talking about the movie itself started playing in theaters last month not the trailers! I live in Colorado United States and they quit showing Elvis the movie about a week or two ago. it's no longer in theaters! And it won't come out on digital and DVD probably for another month or two!

Most of the story is true, that is the thing, at this time no artist where allowed to move around on stage, you should stand still and just sing and not even move a finger, but he could not control his Hips...
I think that someone called him Elvis the Pelvis, that really was cruel nickname and Elvis hated it...
Listen to what his mother said:
They want to kill my boy and the man said:
No they wanna f... and yes the girls might have wanted to ... him he he...
By the way, Elvis actually according to his Bodyguard Red West (heard Red say that in an interview), he told him that he was scared of being forgotten, so it happened.
No Elvis did not fire Colonel Parker, he never found out that he was not a Colonel, but he got angry at the hotel when they fired a employ that he liked, I don't know if he said something on stage though...

.............. I really recommend the movie, but it did have 1 fatal flaw.....
Baz only portrayed Elvis as if he were just a Blues singer and nothing else. He threw out all of Elvis' other influences: Country, Pop Ballads, Bluegrass, Opera, BigBand, singing Cowboys from the Movies of that time, etc.
Elvis once remarked that Country music had just a tad more influence on his music, than any other genre, but we didn't see that in the film. Elvis was always best known for mixing styles (combining Blues with Country Music and coming up with his own unique version of rock & roll, called Rockabilly.
Instead, the movie only showed him as an R&B copycat. It would have been so much more interesting to if they were inclusive in the components that went into Elvis' exposure and eventually evolved Popular Music, given that our music is not only from one source.

Elvis is as good (equal) as bohemian rapsody in my mind. It's that good.
