    Welcome back. Yes, I first found your channel through your hair talk. My hair was falling out about 10 months ago and shed for about 2 months. Your videos helped me so much. My hair has been growing back for about 8 months and has grown about 4 inches. It’s really thick at the roots but thin at the ends. There are some days where I don’t even think about my hair at all.

      DOU lidle most important thing to do is to accept that it’s only temporary and to not think about it 24/7. It seems scary right now but stressing will prolong it. You’ll get through this and your hair will grow back soon. I went to my doctor right away when it happened and had tests done to rule out any medical conditions. Nothing wrong. My hair loss was caused by crash dieting. My doctor recommended taking biotin, iron, calcium, vitamin D, and snacking on nuts and eating enough protein. I also took hair supplements (any brand will do-they’re all about the same). I washed my hair everyday to keep the follicles clear of any build up and to encourage regrowth. I was fearful of washing or combing my hair because of the fallout but I realized that the fallout was not caused from combing and my hairs were “predestined” to fallout. I also massaged my scalp every morning with Juvetress hair therapy. You could totally see my scalp at the time, so I covered up the sparseness with Toppik powder and eyebrow powder. But the three best tips I can give are:
      1) Don’t stress. Try to relax in anyway possible (taking a walk, taking a bath, yoga...)
      2) Eat enough protein (I did at least one gram of protein for every pound of lean body mass. So I ate at least 100g of protein a day). I also added a scoop of collagen protein in my coffee every morning
      3) Take hair supplements, iron, calcium, and vitamin D

      another question did you cut out carbs ? grains? legumes?fruit?

    • @sammijchin
      @sammijchin 5 років тому

      DOU lidle my hair shed started after I did the keto diet for 5 months. I read that too much protein kicks you out of ketosis, so I went low on my protein. It didn’t have anything to do with cutting out grains for me because I still eat low carb (grain free) right now. I still eat fruit and have never cut that out. My doctor said that hair is made from protein...so when I lowered protein, my body shed hair to preserve it’s resources. As dietary protein first goes to muscle repair and body function...and least vital is hair. But also, grains and legumes have a lot of protein too...so if you had cut that out and didn’t supplement with more protein then that could definitely cause hairloss too

    So glad you’re back! You look better than ever! I also suffer from anxiety/depression and telogen effluvium and I’m convinced there’s a link between mental illness and TE. I started shedding about 1 year ago but it wasn’t too bad then 6 months ago it got insane and I was convinced I would go bald! 6 months later I am still shedding but nowhere near as bad, my hair is thin but I am not bald 😀. When the shedding got bad 6 months ago I started taking Biotin daily (10,000ug), went back on antidepressants as the stress of losing my hair was too much for me emotionally and I started eating more (I put on 15lbs in the process which I’m currently trying to lose), I also stopped using heat on my hair as much and used natural shampoos. I stopped taking my antidepressants a few days ago after 6 months and I am hoping and praying my hair doesn’t start to majorly shed again but if it does I will be going back on them straight away 😣. Looking forward to your next upload and thanks for opening up it takes a lot of courage xxx

    Thank you so much for sharing your story, it's normalized a lot of my more haywire emotions. I first noticed my hair shedding in October 2017 when my pharmacy switched my birth control brand to a generic version, and it resulted in insane shedding! I went off it in April 2018 and gave my body a break but my hair continued to shed a lot. I got a copper IUD in December so I could stay off hormones because I believe they're much stronger than what we're initially told by doctors. I've noticed a lot of regrowth with less shedding but it's soooo slow (especially around my hairline and cowlicks) and I'm frustrated since it's been one year since officially off the pill. Levonestrogel if anyone is curious. Trying to not psyche myself out with too much Androgenetic Alopecia content but it's a struggle. Your videos were some of the first that I watched and they made me feel so much calmer. It's awesome to see an update and see you doing so well! Thanks again!!

    Hi Lauren, so thankful you’re back and looking as gorgeous as ever! Just to clarify, this recent event was another “trigger” for the TE? I’m curious because it seems like you avoided it nearly completely by these 5 things? Also, I’m about 5 months post shedding. Do I still have a long way to recover? What I have seen is promising but I worry about one specific spot and am hoping I still have more to grow in that area. Did you have a “trouble spot”, and if so, how long did it take to return to normal? If it did at all. I’m doing better every day but that spot still gives me anxiety (and on days like these, depression).

    So lovely to hear that you’re doing much better! I have a feeling TE is much more likely to strike when you deal with anxiety to some degree! I was so grateful for all your TE content when I was going through it last year. Mine lasted about 7 months, and who knows how long it might have continued because I got pregnant around that time, and now I don’t lose even a normal amount of hair. I have lots of little flyaways as evidence of the regrowth, though! Here’s hoping my experience has prepared me for the postpartum hair loss, haha. 🤗
    Looking forward to some more videos!

      DOU lidle hang in there!! My feeling is that you just have to let TE run its course. I am no expert whatsoever- mine seemed to come about after going on a very strict and limited diet that I was hoping would help heal a health issue I was having. It was an incredibly stressful time for me and I lost a lot of weight, which seemed to mess with the cycle of hair growth. In my opinion, getting your stress under control and learning that TE is almost always temporary are the most important steps to take. It’s hard to know for sure which other things will help in regards to nutrition and vitamins but I honestly just focused on eating well and getting my stress under control. It will get better! Good luck!

      can you please elaborate your diet , i know you said you don't really remember , but did you cut out gluten? grains? carbs? and stuff like that? like what the thing you absolutely avoided ?and how long did it take to see regrowth? i know it's a lot of questions but i really could use the help

    • @robynlarose6566
      @robynlarose6566 5 років тому

      DOU lidle I totally understand feeling consumed with worrying about it. ❤️ unfortunately I don’t have any diet tips for you, because I actually started eating a bunch of things I had cut out for a few months (including gluten and sugar!), I just tried to be mindful that I was still eating healthy foods. I didn’t do anything specific for hair regrowth, but I knew I needed to get back to a healthy weight.
      Maybe try to find the root cause for yours- if there was a triggering event or sudden change in your life that could have brought it on, and see if there’s anything you can do to deal with it. Unless you get diagnosed by a professional with something else besides TE, my advice is to try and trust that it will eventually stop, and take good care of yourself. ❤️

      DOU lidle I forgot to mention re: regrowth, I probably had hair falling out for about 4 months when I started to see baby hairs around the edge of my forehead appearing. I was still seeing hair fall out and it continued for about another 3 months (total of 7 months) but I was encouraged that I was seeing lots of little hairs appearing too. Now I still have lots of shorter hairs but they’re not very noticeable at all so I don’t worry about them!

    Thank you for sharing your story, I can totally relate on the long term depression/anxiety. On a separate note on Ashwagandha, I actually looked into this not too long ago. How much do you take daily? Despite trying to research it, I've not found a recommended dosage level for young women (seems that it's mainly targeting men and impotence lol). Also, taking it long term seems to be associated with health risks, how long did you take it?

    The TE is giving me anxiety. Did your anxiety get worse when you had it and how did you keep it under control? I have days where I am positive and feel it’s getting better and then days where I’m scared bc I’m worried it won’t all grow back or if I see a hair on my shirt I feel like it’s going in the wrong direction. That’s when my anxiety rears it’s ugly head 😣

      I suffer from agoraphobia and social anxiety..on top of depression...my hair loss made it 200 times worse..and it makes the hairloss worse, so it's a vicious cycle

    • @lizc2023

      I think it’s a vicious circle: anxiety>hair loss>depression>etc. It sucks! I’m in the same situation. I find exercise helps as well as healthy eating. Meditation is supposed to help too but I don’t have the patience lol 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @sara-carrier6368

      I went through the exact same thing last year. I didn't want to leave my apartment wheneber I saw long blong strands on my shirt, so depressing. I always thought everyone can tell. Hair was all I thought about. I was so stressed about it. But then I started coming up with a plan for regrowth . This honestly helped so much, I started focusing a lot more on regrowth instead of fall out , since that hair was already going to fall out. Focus on your diet, vitamins (ashwaganda is great for anxiety), hanging out with friends, walking your dog, exercising, anything but your hair falling out. That helped me the most. And about a month later the shedding completely stopped.❤️

    • @brettravestein323
      @brettravestein323 5 років тому

      Sara Holka mine is down to about 10-15 hairs post shower and I see some regrowth but I’m nervous it’s not enough. How soon after your shedding stopped did you see regrowth? Did yours stop completely or did you still have some hairs post shower? It’s hard to know if I’m on a reasonable timeline for regrowth and so I get anxiety around knowing whether it’s getting better or not.

    • @sara-carrier6368
      @sara-carrier6368 5 років тому +1

      @@brettravestein323 If you are seeing the shedding slow then you are probably on the upswing. It sounds like it will continue to slow as you keep doing whatever you're doing, just try not to stress about it. I saw more regrowth after about a month of no more crazy shedding. And it's still hard to tell since my regrowth is so short still, only about an inch or two. And some areas, like my temples, are taking a lot longer to grow back in , but that's expected. It just takes patience, but it sounds like you are almost through. Sorry you are going through this too, it's so hard.
