    Hi there -
Just echoing what so many have said - but thank you so much! I have been struggling with this for a few months now and have been so scared. It seemed like nobody understood where I was coming from and it has been a tough and lonely process. Knowing there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel is so helpful. Your video really just changed my whole outlook on the matter. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

I'm starting to enter lesser hair shedding stage. lost 70% of my thick, beautiful and cherished hair in span of few months like it was nothing. it's been a week that I'm starting to experience much lesser hair shedding. my scalp is still itchy and icky but it doesn't hurt like before. I went to dermatologist and he gave me a shampoo and hair serum with few medicines. I guess that's working too. I actually collected some hair I lost in span of a month and its just depressing. its a huge mass its a literal wig lol. I'm lucky that I had really thick hair to begin with or else I would have a bald head at this point. but I'm happy that I'm recovering. I hope by the end of this month or so my scalp would stop itching, minimize the shedding and I want to see my new lovely baby hairs in my scalp already!! hairloss was a HUGE part of my life because my hair before this shit? was gorgeous. not a single day without a compliment. i still get compliments though. my hair is the best part of me and I couldn't just bear losing it. I hate that i went to dermatologist this late. by the end of this year I want my hair to be thriving. my heart goes out to all the ladies suffering hair loss. ik it's bad but we'll get over it!!!! LOTS OF LOVE..

hair grows 1/2 inch per month. so, 6 inches per year- 12 inches in length will take 2 years and 18 inches long takes 3 years from root to end. It's a long process. I'm there now. Thank god it was long and thick like yours. It's a part of your personality/identity. Hang in there....Time is the answer.

I'm in the first phase, but this has made me really optimistic, thank you! I don't feel self-conscious about the ends of my hair, just the scalp area and how bare it looks in places. Once the shedding is less intense and I get some little hairs back to fill it out, I think my outlook will be way better!

    Hi Lauren!
I just wanted to thank you for making these videos. I am currently a nursing student under intense stress in addition to some things going on in my personal life that is increasing that stress. My hair is in the intense shedding phase and it has only added to everything, causing straight panic to my day. I'm past the itchy phase I see some regrowth already. My trigger was an a crohns flare which caused a fistula and an abscess which became a huge infection which affected my whole body which landed me in the hospital for 11 days and 3 surgeries. Much like yours it was, and still is, an ongoing saga. I'm 9 weeks post surgery and hospital discharge and much improved overal, but I'm still seeing the hair loss, but the regrowth is there as well. Thank you for talking about this topic its such a crazy, scary, confusing situation, as if none of us went through enough with the trigger. This video is very comforting and informative.

It’s so helpful that you are upfront about the time things can take and that it can be different for everyone! My most intense shedding was about a year ago now and I see so much stuff online about how you can see return to normal in a year so it’s been so disheartening to feel like I’ve just been stagnant. Also dont think everytime you get sick, hurt or get emotionally stressed that you will be going through TE. That's very much not the case xD
I've been through it twice with very good reasoning, 1st was 5-6 years of pure traumatic events and low food intake and the 2nd phase was because of getting off of a certain medication (birth control pills). Just wanted to throw this out there to anyone going through this and that the hair comes back and it comes back with a vengeance when you heal yourself but it takes TIME AND ALOT OF IT. Remember, anyone could have this happen to them but it's not easy to have this condition just come up on you either, just had to say this so no one gets anxiety over normal life stressors and circumstances thinking their hair will fall out :)

Birth control of amy form can and will cause hair loss or true thining of the shaft of your hair, which means if you have thick, horselike hair strands, the birth control will make it finer and weaker over a period of time and it creeps up on you as well. Switching pill brands or methods will definitely cause hair shedding aka TE. It will grow back but not to it's best quality if you're on that pill, I couldn't grow my hair past my shoulders while on that garbage and birth control did much more than mess with my hair.
With that said, depending on your situation and how you feel is right for you on this matter, unless you stop the pills you won't get very healthy hair growth :( it's a very bad drug. Hope this helps and dont be scared either about all of this, you're not alone and there are many of other medications that do this as well.

It's very simple, just go all organic in what you eat, non GMOs you name it. Supplements must be organic as well.
I take tumeric, ashwagandha, maca and B complex for all around collagen building.
Long story short, eat pure foods, drink clean water and stay away from conventional items, that also included skin and hair products. Your body needs nutrients, not fake chemically processed foods or skin products.

Wow I just want to say how helpful your videos on TE have been for me as I believe I have just started my journey with it. My trigger forsure was being diagnosed HIV positive back on December 2nd. With the intake process to start medication treatment not being as timely as I would have hoped, as well as working throughout the holidays, I definitely feel like all of these things triggered my hair to start the intense shedding stage as every time I shower, I have severe hair fall out. It seems very diffused throughout my scalp, but luckily I do a combover so it is not very noticeable! I am very hopeful however as I do have short hair and I normally keep a faded hair style so I am optimistic I can manage mine easier than women dealing with this could. These videos have definitely been so informative so thank you!

I’m also going to start eating a lot of vegetables, fruits and proteins (less carbs) to see if my hair will respond to that. I’m hopeful that it will help because my diet right now can be tremendously improved as I am horrible at eating healthy (I have been all my life). This will hopefully give me the motivation to start now and improve my future.

I'm in the intense shedding/intense regrowth transition phase. Nothing traumatic that I can think of (unless being forced to wear a mask when I'm claustrophobic as H counts). But today I also realized I have something along the lines of "loose anagen syndrome" - my hair comes out, root and all with just a small tug, and without pain. But the baby growth is there and it's staying put. (I was washing my face and went to move a chunk of hair away from the soap and the entire chunk of 20+ hairs came out. NO pain, no bleeding, roots and all-and it's happening all over my head for any hair over 3" long- I went pixie a few weeks ago out of frustration).
I HOPE the regrowth is a good sign and that this is the end of the tunnel!

The past 3 months I shed about 100 hairs in the shower drain alone. I wash my hair every other day due to soreness at crown/sensitivity. I am praying for this pain to end. I color my hair with a gentle color to cover grays every 5 weeks, but it’s funny the color does not hurt when I have it done. Like you my hair is not what it used to be, it grew in more fine. The hair at my temples is short and I doubt it will grow long like it was. But we’ll see what happens in another year. Glad you are doing well and happy!

thank you for the tips and sharing your story...helps so much and gives hope. Bless you.
.... my second round of TE. Still in the shedding phase.... coming to the end of month 6 ... 30% lighter on the old scalp. second time i have had this in my life....first time in my 20s dont even remember the cause now...and now again in my 40s...my hair never was was thick but it did grow long but after my first TE hit never really got that long just whispy but it did grow back enough to look healthy. its annoying but i cant stop it so try not to stress it. as that will make it worse or start it again....
i,m riding it out...it could be worse and i could have shed worse, my heart goes out to those who suffer with more loss...
sorry for long message...youtube wasn,t around my last TE episode... so need to share with people who actually understand and believe you. makes such a difference hearing other stories and journeys.... and not being told ur just being paranoid....when u lose 357 hairs from one round of washing and brushing that is not paranoia....
Got my hair cut short after two years of growing it...just got past my shoulders aswell....grrr.... was saving my hair for rainbow hair but it got so whispy it looked bad....wouldnt have fit a full rainbow or even half of one... roll on re.growth. have my multi vits, scalp scrub and hair oil at the ready...hope i can hold onto my optimism better than i could hold onto my hair.

Thank you for sharing, I’m 26 years old and after moving into our new house I happened to get poison ivy from my husband and it was on my neck and face and all over me, plus I happened to be super allergic to it so for 6 weeks I couldn’t eat or sleep well because it burned and hurt so bad, I think that’s what triggered my TE, I’ve struggled with anxiety for past 4 years so I think i wasn’t filtering my stress correctly, and since August 17 my hair has been shedding, I’ve definitely brought down my stress levels by a lot but the hair is still shedding.. trying to eat healthy and exercise, praying for this to pass soon..

My story is different, I had a eating disorder which caused my T.E. It shed in January 2017 and I haven’t had new regrowth. It’s slowly thinning. I immediately changed my over exercising and began eating normally. Because I had such thick hair it took awhile to start seeing scalp. I’m a hairstylist which makes it really hard. But I hope it eventually regains it’s thickness at some point in the future.

My TE is over, and she said if it happens again and I’m in a panic to use Rogaine for 3 months. I definitely will if it happens again, because I only got 75% of my hair back. I don’t think I will fare so well the next time as I am in my early 50’s. Aging will play a part in it most likely. Fingers crossed it does not come again!

*Update as for April 2021 below*
Oh my god thanks so much for this video. It's made me realise I'm at the stage of light shedding and light regrowth. My hair still falls, not so much as before, and it has some days it sheds heavier and others lighter but I can see regrowth at the sides of my head, my frontal line and stuff. I had regrowth months ago but it was very weak and fine hair that fell shortly :( that scared me a lot. I have less hair now than I had three months ago but fortunately it seems the new hair that's growing now has a decent thickness. I had lost hope since I've been fighting with loss and regrowth and losing again for almost two years, but I'm being treated for some underlying issues (low ferritin levels and slightly high dheas) and trying to tackle stress and anxiety, which I think was the actual trigger of this madness.
*Update*: In December 2020 shedding (100 or more hairs per wash) stopped, and began slowly decreasing, to the point now it's less than 50, 30-40 average. No more finding hairs constantly on my clothes during the day. My sides are thicker and also some parts of my top, although not yet how it used to be, if you don't look closely, they look 'normal'. The nape is a little bit worse than before (the shedding I had between oct-dec due to oral minoxidil worsened it, although according to other doctors, 0.25mg minoxidil is almost placebo) but overall my hair looks better than a year ago. I still find a few fine regrowth hairs that eventually fall prematurely, as well as some thick hairs that fall relatively short (about 15 cm). I guess I still have low ferritin levels and not doing great on the Vitamin D section (even though I'm trying to fix it), but at least I'm more hopeful.
New hairs at the hairline coming out that I didn't know they even existed once haha, which makes me think follicles go into long resting periods (perhaps one year or more) before growing again, which explains why it's such a long process and why I haven't recovered in two years of on and off shedding.
I got a couple of dermatologists diagnose me AGA due to PCOS, but another three disagree. I've always had very manageable PCOS, menstruating every 30-45 days with the odd 50 day cycle, with very little significant elevated testosterone and DHEA-S levels, which have never been a problem aside from some mild hirsutism and a few spots now and then until I was 21. As time has gone by, my skin has even become dry (I literally have to put on oil + thick moisturiser daily to keep my skin hydrated) and hirsutism improved, never noticed changes in my hair thickness until I had CTE for a year. No baldness in my family. Obviously that initial diagnosis was the worst for me, but I'm trying to keep hopeful and believe those doctors who think I don't have it. After all, if I had AGA, my hair wouldn't be looking better, would it?
Sending strength to all of you 💕

But now it's come back to 'normal' levels (around 60-70 hairs per wash) although my normal used to be 20 or 30. I'm hopeful it'll keep getting better. Also I'm having more regrowth and 90% of it seems to be normal thick. Thanks for asking ❤️❤️

Hope it is helpful for you because a year ago I too was binging all the UA-cam vidoes on how to stop my hairfall. 🤗

Thank you for this video! I’m 20 and currently going through this🙏🏻 Does anyone know if 6 months of antibiotics could trigger this?

Antibiotics can cause temporary thinning. No need to worry
