There was a real gap in intermediate guitar lessons on youtube.. no longer! You rule it Jules! Jam packed, right into the good stuff, never tiresome, NEW SIMPLE ways of seeing and doing on guitar. Thank you , Jules, you're one generous, cool cat
Jules, I have been playing for 35 years.. I've gigged, recorded and played countless styles. Your stuff blows my mind.. The best guitar "theory" teacher I've ever watched (and I've watched dozens)!
Jules you're amazing Tremendous teacher and I enjoy every lesson you do...your patience for explain make you in my opinion the best of all...1000 thanks
I've been playing guitar for over 45 years, you blew me away with this simple tip. You opened my eyes, you see, never too old to learn. I grew up mainly in the late 70's early 80's, shredding guitar was the main thing :). And now I'm just learning how great and good this is, thank you. Cheers from Belgium
Well TBF to yourself, this is basically a pattern/box from a very specific niche of Blues called "Chicago Blues", & it's not very popular, even in the US, so it's understandable you're unfamiliar. Whatever helps you navigate the fretboard better is a positive tho! I didn't get much from this because I'm already familiar w/how to mix the major/minor/blues scales, & while this isn't an actual scale or mode or anything, it's whatever turns a light on for your personal understanding of the fretboard that counts. Congrats & enjoy|!
Thanks for keeping the guitar sound clean. It drives me nuts when some instructors (for some reason they usually have long stringy hair) play with high gain or some type of distortion. It’s much easier to hear and understand the concepts with a clean guitar sound.
Jules… INCREDIBLE! I just had a 💡 moment through this lesson! You are such a great Teacher! thank you.. and again THANK YOU! All these years playing, never saw this approach until now!
I just subscribed and watched most of your videos. You have taught me so much practical blues playing and theory than I have learned in a pile of DVD lessons that I have. Please for the love of all that is guitar holy don't change your teaching style. As an older beginner/intermediate player you are making it very easy to learn and enjoy playing. Thank you so very much.
I have picked up some bits and pices of this from other players over the years but this lesson really helped me to see the connection and start assembling the pieces. Thank you so much for these lessons. The are full of great material and you have an awesome way of communicating as a teacher. Your lessons are helping me move forward from mindless noodling and helping me to focus on improving my playing. THANK YOU!
First time I have been on your site Jules, you have explained some of the licks I have already been using for a while, and at the same time expanded my knowledge - so that I can explore the fret board in a more informed (less random and sheer luck) manner, than I have been doing .... I will be looking at some of your other DVD's later. Thank you, from an old (83 years) rock and roller ....
Amazing lesson, you are hands down the absolute best guitar teacher that I have ever come across...you break things down which makes it so much easier to understand...🤟🏾🤟🏾
Thank you so much for helping to take years of scales, chords, and riffs and apply some order, direction, and creative purpose. You are an excellent instructor with deep understanding and patience. Awesome stuff.
Brilliant Jules. Thank you for the time and effort you put in to make videos.... They help so much. and as others have said so easy to understand. and your teaching methods are the best on here and i should know i have looked at a thousand other videos.
Jules: Great and really clear explanation regarding how to mix in an easy way Minor, Major, Blue, and Mixolydian scales, plus double stops, micro chords, slides, bends... Well done!!
Brilliant, Jules, and again absolutely instructive and super explained teaching and playing: a treasure of inspiration for the learner and great sounding, not too complicated blues licks! Thank you ever so much!!
I could not understand how these guys were doing it. It’s starting to come to me. This is one of the best lessons. The scales and playing the changes is a comprehensive way to play solos and improvising. I was stuck in the mud with only one scale.
Well, this isn't a scale. He's just showing you how to visualize the interchanges of the Major/Minor/Blues scales. You still want to learn all three of those scales, in every position. If it's CAGED you're learning, learn all those shapes, or if you're learning them as pentatonic positions (same thing as CAGED) learn them that way, but learn them also in multiple keys (focus on common blues keys if that's your thing) and then move on to arpeggios, & that will really open up a bag of tricks for you. Arpeggios are magical. Good luck!
Thanks so much, Jules. I look forward to your posts. They are a distillation of knowledge and efficiently convey so much. I recognized the first inversion triad in the first list of notes. It's great when the bits come together.
Thanks! I’ve been playing guitar for while, but am always wanting to improve my modest skills. Your ability to distill essential understanding out of the theory, and present it in an easily remembered way, is the best I’ve found.
I have looked at a few of your lessons now and have looked at a lot of youtube guitar material over the years and have to say you have a very good and clear approach to teaching....Well done!!!...👏👏👏
Great one ! Thanks so much, makes understanding and using these fundamentals easy to use and understand and can use this technique and theory towards any key and when improvising / soloing without having to overthink anything yet know you will be within key and or able to keep up with the changes.
That was a huge help, I feel like I owe you money now..... Thank you for this from a metal head trying to change his styles of playing. You made it so easy to understand which is much appreciated mate!
I've seen others try to explain a similar approach, but this is really broken down well, the way you detailed how the other scales are already within reach really helps with confidence building on the fret board. Sub'd!
Fantastic! Thank you so much Jules. Great video and instructional style, I gained so much from this. Subscribed and looking forward to more. Cheers and thanks again! Bruce, Australia.
Wow, I have never thought of that kind of approach. Nice teaching skills, I also liked the red box in the tabs. I also liked the explanation of what beat the lick came in on. I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks!

Blame Google. Poop rises to the top. This is cookie cutter stuff
Absolutely spot on. So much useful stuff.
@@user-zq9su8jv2kcool story bro
In 30+ years of playing, this is one of the best and most useful descriptions of this foundational material! Well done!
I’m blown away. So straight forward. You’re in a different league than the rest of the UA-cam instructors. Thank you Jules!!
Not just a super tutorial, but a sound and technique that's sublime.
Jules, I have been playing for 35 years.. I've gigged, recorded and played countless styles. Your stuff blows my mind.. The best guitar "theory" teacher I've ever watched (and I've watched dozens)!
Cheers Martin, appreciate your kind words
Played rock for years this is great transition. I turned to clean sound. Keep helping us old rockers

I agree, Jules has really helped me to see the fretboard from different approaches!

That's not clean😂
@@richardrichard5409 I knew there would be someone who would be pedantic and nitpick the word “clean”. Would “relatively clean” make feel better?
@Dex619 haha - you knew it was coming
Even older bearded gits do it too. Distortion guitar lessons sounds shit and hard to follow. This one is awesome
