Don't forget pom poms and that IKEA ceiling lamp/shade. Ha!! It seems like she's really for people who have a similar style for sure. But I to take away as many small space ideas as possible.
Every time I watch one of Alexandra's videos, nearly all of the comments are SO NEGATIVE! What the heck. It's literally every video. I think she's so great
I love your decorating tricks for a low budget and your sense of colour. I mean, pink in the kitchen? Adorable! You make it seem so easy and yet for me its always a puzzle and I just can't decide where to put what. Also you are so young and cute it's fun to watch your channel.
What a transformation! It looks sooooo much more open, more inviting, less cluttered. Much more practical with some open cabinets on castors. Genius. I really, really love it xx
@@kiki29073 but I reckon the user will be constantly be taking things in and out of the cabinets for classes and shoots. I'm guessing she'd be cleaning stuff all the time anyway 🤔
There's a big difference from having shelf units full of stuff where the space the shelves occupy is dead space as you cannot stand or do anything, and now the shelf units are gone and you can utilize that space more efficiently. Things are now up on the walls and there is a high a table for more counter space and rolling carts that will be out of the way where there was no space before. I'd imagine there will still be students on the dining table but it won't be a separation from kitchen to dining room as before since the improved space ties both places and it created a flow. Great job!
I want to preface this by saying I always love your videos but this one was like so high quality! The design was perfect, the cinematography was on point, everything! You and your team are killin it lately! Can’t wait for what you do next!
Love how this looks! Would have looked to see maybe some glass doors over the rolling shelves, to keep things from getting dusty or knocked over by people knees
You wouldn't think that taking out white bookshelves and putting in white floating shelves would make that big a difference, but its magical! I never would have thought to put those wheeled carts in, but they look great and will work too! WTG, this is awesome.
I'm so thrilled to see my book Beauty Food featured at 9.30 in this inspiring video! Thank you so much for sharing, Alexandra. Love the pink and minty colour scheme. xx from Stockholm, Maria
Alexandra thank you for sharing your video. Visually you truly helped the space. I think the floating shelves were a plus widening the space. At 4:42 you showed the cupboards underneath; reorganizing them would have been a big boost for her prep & cooking. The moveable cases are best away from the cupboard for functionality. She was very pleased with the new look. Next is my personal opinion only: I know you love your labelmaker....but those labels look best on vintage metal cabinets. There are pretty labels & pens that may be nicer. I love baskets (again my opinion) cutting boards for food need to have own clean space not with non cooking utensils. The wall color was also a fav. 🤩
Alexandra, it looks absolutely beautiful and for Lauren's photo shoots it absolutely works...more organized for sure. I do believe Alexandra stated Lauren "plans" on like 8 students. Plans can change and if Lauren determines 6 may be be a better fit for the space, so be it....trial and error.
I really like the changes. One of my favorites is hanging the green (favorite color) utensils. I also love how you put the cookbooks on two shelves that can be moved around as needed. If she places some protective cloths over them that can be added cooking space if neded. Nice job!!!
Bacon + Brussies is a winner - shredded brussels sprouts, bacon, butter, parmesan - serve it with eggs, voila! Also works beautifully with chorizo or salami in place of the bacon. And I too am OBSESSED with this makeover. Jealous and obsessed. ;)
I love this one! I give you major props, see what I did there, for taking off the cabinet doors and adding wheels to those shelf units under the island. I'm also thrilled that you got rid of those white stools (especially since you brought IN white shelves on the wall and under the island. The new stools have far more personality and interest. The storage solutions and the thoughtfulness around IG backgrounds as well as functionality for her classes was EPIC! Major bonus points for the two, count 'em, 2 perfectly fabulous locations for those rolling shelves. I also have to acknowledge the sheer lack of pom poms in this design, perfectly fine for AG to wear AG aesthetic signature items. My one quibble is that, despite Lauren bravely stating how obsessed she is with terracotta, you intruded your standard issue pink into her sanctuary. For that I must seriously question you...Yes, that particular shade was dark. Yes, she already had one focal wall nearby that was dark. Yes, orangey tones and black basically equals Halloween. BUT, note the hugeness of the but, on no planet anywhere is the next option for THAT client a cool toned, so over it EVERYWHERE pink. Why not do a softer, paler version of the terracotta???? Please please listen to your clients better and recognize that not everyone on the planet is as girly as you, not everyone is as addicted to cool tones as you, and please know how hard it is to speak up for yourself with a designer whose taste is so very particular. This is her life, her business, and it should reflect HER aesthetic. Yes, designers should have a strong point of view & it's 100% okay for you to peek through here and there. We all love your stuff! But I would have seriously cried if you did that to me. AND immediately painted over it. Not cool, Alexandra. One more thing I should acknowledge since I threw down a challenge last time. You did not use the same damned lamps or brass fixtures again. Thank you for this! We love your stuff but it is beneath you to be so specifically repetitive. Your style is fab, your DIYs amazing, and I love your content. Just please, please continue to stretch yourself as you honor the homeowner clients you work with. Honestly rooting for you to BLOW MY MIND!
That pink wall colour is perfection!! Here's a super simple dish idea: slice up one big tomato and one piece of mozzarella, put them on a plate, drizzle some olive oil on top and finnish it off with sprinkling over some salt flakes 👌🏻
wow I love all of her mugs and kitchenware! and the apartment already is so beautiful. you did an amazing job. I love how much function everything has and how aesthetically pleasing it all looks. Everything goes so well in the space too. amazing job!!
I really love this space now, the accent wall behind that table is so pretty, I love that color, we all have our own opinions on what we feel works the best, but unless we actually use this space it is just an opinion. I like the look and feel it opened it up and made it look more functional, but just my opinion, I do a lot of cooking and know how space works and how many people can fit into a space. Thanks for sharing it was fun to see.
Love your ideas ! I'm borrowing the one for bookcases in my narrow bar area that nobody sits at because their knees get banged. Putting them on rolling casters was brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing your skill, talent and fun-ness. (Is that a word? Well, it is now! )
I love how this looks. I never go for open shelving in the kitchen because it means an obscene amount of extra cleaning, and I hide behind the "full-time working mum, sorry, can't do it" excuse :-), but I have to admit that it looks gorgeous.
I love the new aesthetic, but I probably would have kept the giant bookcases and styled them cuter PLUS adding the rolling carts would mean more storage instead of less
What an amazing makeover x you have a great eye for things. Great inspiration x I recommended your channel to my colleague who was having issues with layout of rooms 😊
I love that she loved it and the use of jars was a great idea. I found some old Canadian made canning jars at the Aberfoyle Antique Market and bought two as useable keepsakes. The floating and moveable shelving makes the most of limited space. I think she might still need the other two bar stools though😄
Fav kitchen tool is a oval shaped crock pot. Fav recipe is pretty much any chicken based soup. Fav spices are cumin and smoked sweet Paprika. Fav cookbook is Mennonite and is called ABC cookbook from Amish Country Cookbooks for $19.99. It is not diet food.

I LOVE it! Alexandra, you did a beautiful job!!! Overall it was a more simple makeover but it made a HUGE difference! I love the accent wall with the paint, definitely going to be doing that in my space
I'm super impressed with everything, my favorite would be The shelves unit under the Kitchen Bar and the floating shelfs. The only thing I would do different would be the jars ...I like it in the little ones but the biggers I would find a tag or something prettier to show the name and expiration date 🤔 ,they look so luxurious to use the same tag.( in my humble opinion )I wish you were close to Virginia my little apartment would be so grateful 😁🤩😅
I used to kill every plant I had and sometimes one doesnt make it still but I would say the key is just get a real feel for each type of plant you have and its needs and if its thriving and just be on the ball, because the second you drop the ball on a plant and just let it go, it usually declines, some are pretty hardy tho, I love cacti the most but also many others.
Beautiful transformation. I dont know how efficient it will be when preparing meals. An easy recipe I make often is quiche, just use prepared pie crust and find a recipe online for the egg and cheese mix. Serve with a salad. It reheats well and my guests like it. I call it egg pizza!
Love the makeover, even though I’m not a pink girl 😉 and honestly my favourite cookbook to read, yep read is Stephanie Alexander’s Cooks Companion - cause it explains how to do everything and what goes with it that ingredient. I never miss a video so please keep posting cause I love what you do and how enthusiastic you about!
Please come to Montreal and change my new apartment. It needs you. You have 100% creative freedom too. Might slip in the words boho and minimalist... anyhow, your makeovers are awesome. I’m glad I found you yay 2020!
The space is beautiful & much more flexible now 😊 Shakshuka. Essentially a tomato sauce with eggs poached in it, served with bread. You can make the sauce spicy, warm with cumin & coriander or keep it plain just with garlic & oregano. You can add capsicum, eggplant, onion, chickpeas, sausage or spinach to the sauce. And serve with buttered sourdough for dipping. Delish.
the rolling shelves are a great idea!! i have a tiny rental kitchen with bad storage and i will def try this!!! also love open shelves but if u get tired of it u could just put some doors on them!
Great job.. But I like the other option of not blocking storage. Glad you showed both looks. Now there are 2 counters for students.. 2 at one station and 6 around other island.
My favorite easy go to dish is chicken thighs and potatoes in the oven. You would actually need to make an effort to mess it up and there are so many variations that it could be a different meal every week. For example, taking it to the extreme, this turns into grilled chicken breasts with vegetables. Throw in some pasta and you're the best cook of the month lol.
I always get inspired by watching your videos. I feel like you come up with simple ways to make things work. Love the idea of adding the wheels under the shelving. (oh, and just bought the retro label maker)!
Thank you Alexandra, Love your inspiration, your video's. I also live in a condo with a galley kitchen , you have given me so many ideas, but I'm going to Sherwood Williams to pick up the pink paint, Absolutely Beautiful! You did an Amazing job on this condo !❤❤❤
Not at all convinced by the floating shelves. This would have been a perfect opportunity to create semi built-in storage across that entire wall space on the left, instead of bringing more smaller pieces of furniture into the space. One of my go to quick dishes is a crispy spicy tofu & vegetable stir-fry.
Wonderful! My favorite simple quick dish is Thai red coconut curry stew with fish. Tilapia filets cut in bite sized pieces work great. Serve with rice.
I love your pink and white and plants aesthetic, but I would love to see you decorating for other tastes too!
Don't forget pom poms and that IKEA ceiling lamp/shade. Ha!! It seems like she's really for people who have a similar style for sure. But I to take away as many small space ideas as possible.

I agree with your comment about the labelmaker used. IKEA has a few lovely alternatives, at least they do in my local store (London, UK).
Love the layering technique on the shelves, shows everything but makes it useful. And those Pom Pom earrings!

I love the bookcases on weels idea!
