Are you looking for a lightweight and travel-friendly sling for your next trip?
If you are, then the Alpaka Flight Sling could be your next EDC sling!
This 2-liter sling is packable and lightweight. It's made with high-quality hardware and waterproof fabric that make it ultra worth its price. One thing to note about this sling is its rear-pocket security as it's got no zipper to secure your valuable like your passport.
But aside from that, we think that for its price- it's worth getting! ANDDD, did we mention that it's relatively cheaper than other brands with the similar capacity and features? 😉

Glad I'm not alone in spending hundreds of dollars on bags in search of my "endgame". Which we both know doesn't exist, but grateful to have a channel like this. Every bag I have considered - y'all literally have a video for it. Thanks for all the hard work!
my pleasure!
I’ve had this sling for about 3 weeks now. I understand the critical back pocket. HOWEVER……. it is perfect for those small packs of wet wipes when travelling. I initially kept it in the main pocket but it navigated to the back. Perfect for not getting my greasy mits in the main pocket.
good call on the wet wipes!
You make wonderful reviews! Thanks for doing a deep dive and how you showcase and demonstrate everything makes it easier for me to consider different slings! Keep it up!
Glad you like them and thanks so much!
Regarding the back pocket, they definitely should've put like a magnet or something in there. Their Elements Tote has that neat little magnetic closure function, so I'm not sure why they didn't implement that here.
I knoww, seemed like a no-brainer
Great review, thank you, I was looking for reviews. Agree about back pocket, everything elser looks great
its a nearly perfect sling - thanks for the love!
I mean, the back pocket was the reason I got this sling tbh.
When im at the airport and I need to get my passport in and out and in and out all the time its exhausting and that pocket is the perfect solution for me 😊
glad to hear you like!
Just bought this sling . Compare to lite sling bellroy . This is definitely worth the money . Its lightweight, the internal space inside is almost the same as go sling mini. thanks for the review 👍
Agreed on all the above
Just ordered. Thanks for the code!
Hope you enjoy it!
I think the back pocket is useful for quick access when at the counter or getting on the plane or going through security. I like that I don’t have to zip and unzip for a quick task. Think of it more as a place to figuratively lay your passport or wallet done instead of on the counter. Also nice for a phone that I’m always reaching for. If I don’t want it falling out, then I put it in a zippered pouch. It’s not like I’m climbing around under barbed wire or something when I’m wearing the sling.
Finally they fix the position of magnetic buckle. Hate it when it's on the middle while also wearing a backpack or just sitting/leaning. That's why i picked the Aer Day Sling 3 X-pac over the Go Sling Mini. Agreed on con no. 2 unsafe for passport storage.
great point about the shoulder strap - not something I really consider but I should mention a bit more in my reviews
Perfect timing for me as I was looking for a flight pouch 😁
Thanks for the code and your honnest reviews 👍: yes, that back pocket sounds pretty useless but not a deal breaker
Happy to help!
Love this flight Sling 🙏
It’s amazing
Great sling!!! The only issue is the back pocket which is useless.
But overall quality and utility is top. Love it!
got a great comment saying the back pocket is ideal for wet wipes - at least it's not TOTALLY useless lol
Great review as always. What kind of fabric is the back pocket made of? More specifically, do you think I could sew a velcro strap inside it?
not sure, I'd recommend asking Alpaka. I'd love to hear what they say!
thanks for this review! i'm thinking of a father's day gift for my husband.. i don't think he'd be thrilled with the unsecured back pocket.. i think i'd go with the mini sling v1/v2
im sure your husband will love it!
I only use back pocket at the airport from check-in counter to TSA, so don't have to dig in order to find my passport, but totally agree... magnet would have been perfect. the front, mine came with magnetic key leash attachment. don't like to location though. would have been better if it was off to the side. because it's centered, it often gets in the way. other than that, love this sling. been my edc since it's release.
its a brilliant sling, no doubt about that
I bought it and others from Alpaka and it has quality goods.
💯
I like this more than the bellroy lite mini as a packable pocket reliever as it has a tech sleeve and a little more org. I still like the venture ready more, but this is more packable and the price is really good.
agreed that I still prefer the Venture Ready 2.5L - it's the king of small slings to me still
Magnets would be great for that back pocket. Cuz I like how they use magnets in the one pocket of the Alpaka Element Case Max.
Agreed
yes my flight sling same color. i am not very concerned with the back pocket for passport because I think if you put more stuff inside, it will be harder to falloff. but yes, a small magnetic button can help but maybe they are thinking it may not function as it is if we put our boarding ticket vertically.
good points!
Could u possibly make a jansport big student review and packing it through so I can possibly see what can I fit?
I would love to but to be very straightforward, the chances are very low as we already have 50+ bags lined up to review. If you send me one though I'll review it just for you. ;)
Hey A-A Ron,
I’m torn between this and the alpaka elements tech case v1.2
Which one do you recommend more for versatility?
Thanks always for replying!
if you want a sling first and a tech case second, get the Flight Sling. If you want a tech case first and a sling second, get the Tech Case. Neither is as good as the other at their primary design if that makes sense
I like the Go Sling Mini...
Great sling!
Hey Aaron, maybe I’m missing something but nobody ever reviewed the ModernDayfarer Sling - not the mini or light version, but the bigger one with the signature fidlock on it. It is by far my favorite sling - optimized for an iPad Pro 11“, and capable of handling even water bottles due to the expansion. I’d really like to know your thoughts! And, as always, great review! Cheers, Ben
I’m hoping to get my hands on one soon - thanks dude!!
Those clips I believe are called "gate keepers" (as per Woojin website). Ghooks are usually without the wire gate (though I have seen gated ones) and are often metal. Regardless, I agree with you, they're awful, I toggle between sling/pouch mode maybe 5 times a week and gatekeepers would still be a deal-breaker for me (as I learned with the Aer Pro Sling).
GATEKEEPERS! That's the one haha
The only thing I’d put in that back pocket is the straps when in pouch mode. Other than that, maybe it acts as extra padding against your body?
good call on the straps
If they make an X pac version with the back pocket zippered or magnetized I'd buy this again. By far my fav sling when I need to carry my tablet. Real downside is only the back pocket and maybe the key leash on the middle (should be to the side).
Good point on the keyleash
This made my day!
🫶🏽
I have the mous sling. And I feel this may be a better option🤔
I haven’t reviewed the Mous sling yet so I can’t say for sure
The back pocket seems great for items that you need to quickly put away and get out again. It's basically a third hand.
🤚 🤚 🤚
🤚 🤚 🤚
I bought one because it does pack easily and fits an iPad Mini. But guess what?-for a present trip, it lost out to other options. For me, the ALPAKA Phone Sling, along with the Pakt 15L Backpack were what were my EDC. Had a couple other items as Tech pouches as well.
its certainly competitive out there
Hey Aaron, question not really about this video but can apply to all your videos: could you please tell me the name of the song that you use at the beginning of your videos and that is always in the background? I love it and every time I hear it I think about Nomads Nation, I think it's really a part of the Nomads Nation channel identity.
Thanks dude! It's actually a song written by my brother - he's an amazing musician/singer/songwriter. Unfortunately he didn't publish the Nomads Nation song but he goes by the name Kash Ryder on Spotify - open.spotify.com/artist/1AfFxfEnhkAl73GfAjjx1X?si=6-fMolyBSbSbRWo3x_q7tA
@Nomads.Nation Wow that's incredible! Tell your brother I say thank you for making such a banger of a song for the channel! I'll definitely check him out, thanks:D
Hmm I have the Alpaka tech case I'm not sure if the flight sling is better? I like the material from the flight sling 😅
they have similarities but are also a different as one is a better pouch and the other is a better sling
Hello. Will the Alpaka flight sling fit Sony XM4 and sunglasses?
should, but I'd recommend double checking with Alpaka customer support as I don't have them so can't say for sure
Hey! Is there a risk that magnetic buckle could come undone if someone were to attempt to yank the sling bag off the shoulder?
Low risk, but yes
I agree with you, defo needs a zipper on the back pocket, without which it's pretty much off my list. BUMMER.
hopefully they watch this review and apply a zipper in V2
I'm a super fan of Alpaka, but yea I do not like the open back pocket. Personally I used the Vanquest Dendrite as my sling and more recently the alpaka tech pouch mini as a sling.
I'll check out Vanquest
i like the fact that the strap is removable....therefore.... its reversible for lefties like me.... but i agree that back compartment should be secured even by just 1 or 2 buttons at least
just gimme one button lol
I would like to see a belt puch kwim one that doesn’t come with a sling and attached to your belt be an intresting take and won’t give a Fanny pack approach if made correctly.,, think hip pouch without the tactical look if that makes sense
Cool idea - I think that would be interesting for sure
Another great review. The lack of closure on that back pocket should be a deal killer. I am surprised at this oversight on Alpaka.
there are a few comments here that show me it's not as big of a del to everyone, but yea for me it's a miss
The front pocket comes with magnetic keyring
💯
I am still not sure if I want to purchase this sling. Does anybody have any ideas on how to add organization? Especially vertically, because it seems that everything will be piled up at the bottom. The back pocket is not a dealbreaker for me. It's a great place for wet wipes - easy to access and not a big deal if lost.
I'm not really sure how to add organization in a small sling like this, I'd love to hear ideas if anyone has
The key tether is definitely missing something.
Gigiddy!!!
😆
I use the back pocket to keep my baby's burp cloth easily accessible, keeps the main compartment clean if I need to store a dirty cloth, and also lets the cloth air dry a bit as I walk around
During diaper changes I can use that open back pocket as an extra space to temporarily stick a clean shirt or diaper that I'm gonna need quick access to in a few seconds while I free up my hands to clean the baby up
But definitely wouldn't keep anything important in there, least of all my passport
good call!
This gives me bellroy lite sling vibes 😅
good comparison!
The back pocket is for queuing convenience whilst about to board with the bags of snacks, drink, reading materials and duty free items you've purchased at the airport prior to your flight.
Avoids teeth marks and saliva on your boarding pass and passport!
Got it, but I’d still prefer it to be a zipper so I can choose to keep it open or closed
What is the most comfortable bag you have worn?
Aer, Evergoods, and Fyro (the backpack I’m making) are the most consistently comfortable brands imo
What is the most comfortable aer bag?
@@melonplayz-roblox9600 truthfully, all of them (except the Pro series - they are still comfy but not AS comfy/soft as the regular bags)
@@Nomads.Nation thanks
Will use back pocket for non important items
good idea lol
Yeah Alpaka..give us a velcrove.!
🙏
Nope. Not overthinking the passport pocket. Plus it’s so easy it almost openly invites pickpockets of a legally-identifying document having lots of personal data. I’m at “No to the …heck… no”. But, many other people, including my wife, have suggested I *might* be a wee bit paranoid. 😉
😂
Why is it call a Flight Sling.? Great material & zippers, an affordable light weight minimalist for girls..!? Okay AR..here we go with that you call it a "back pocket". It's not really a secure back pocket. Agreed.! It is a convenient place for following items such as yes..passport, plane tickets, flight passes etc when you are about to approach the counters, entry gate to the plane so you don't have to ruffle in the main compartment to look for required credentials. Then you put all those important documents in the zipped pocket or in the main pocket for security. Cowabunga.! Also your declaration card on landing/arrival. Lets call it a "momentary pocket" for now. It's functional too for bus pass, train tickets & parking fines.!! Oh well mate, thought we throw those out there for you to contemplate. Untill next time..stay awesome matey.
"momentary pocket" - LOVE IT
I am not really a fan of the flight sling. I feel its pointless. So many other slings made by alpaka which can replace this.
Please consider reviewing the new (go sling mini v2) in xpac material. That one looks promising.
this is probably my personal favorite Alpaka Sling. V2 review hopefully coming soon!
The unsecure passport pocket was 100% the reason i didn't order this one, even if it should be fine...i just cant do it. Bellroy 2.5L has a zipper which i like but i like the Alpaka form factor better. Arrg!
Totally get where you are coming from
The back poket without zipper sucks! Who the hell design something like this,??? 🎉
Check the comments, not everyone minds it
Took a look at this and was tempted…but then I got gifted a Bellroy Lite Sling and haven’t looked back at this.
Totally agree with the critiques… Just a couple of tweaks and it would be pretty boss for the money. Phone with the keys in the front though… that’s a no no for me in my load out. LOL.
💯
Would put almost NOTHING in that pocket.
Can’t argue with that
1. I’m a big fan of open back pockets. They’re great for convenience, so I can shove stuff in there and move off quickly.
Given a zippered front pocket and a zippered main pocket, I don’t need a zippered back pocket.
2. Magnetic closure on that back pocket would have been the best of both worlds. Convenient and a bit more secure.
3. The back pocket seemed weirdly small.
4. I don’t want any more bags with grey interiors. I’m just done.
hoping for a his-vis orange version?
@@Nomads.Nation
Orange… yellow… Defy apparently does silver… something to add a bit of personality. As an option at least, with one of the colorways.
@@adriancharles ur gonna love the Fyro lining ;)
This product definitely feels like a prototype that went into production by accident because the alpaka slings you’ve reviewed have differences that ain’t worth to make this sell as a product so I think this product Ngl SUCKS 🤣🤣
interesting! For me I'd take this sling over any Go Sling - in fact I think this is my fav Alpaka sling
@@Nomads.Nation I mean the go slings aren’t as much better aesthetically but they’re definitely more functional! 🤣
@@ivanchau11 I dunno... I'd still pick the Flight Sling personally
you are over doing it in the passport pocket . that pocket in the rear is for quick access wallet and considering that it sits against your body it will not fall out also unless you are running jumping what ever item that is stored there stays there
Thanks for your feedback! But still, it feels… weird to me
I think the back pocket is useful for quick access when at the counter or getting on the plane or going through security. I like that I don’t have to zip and unzip for a quick task. Think of it more as a place to figuratively lay your passport or wallet done instead of on the counter. Also nice for a phone that I’m always reaching for.
