Thanks for watching! 😃
This was INCREDIBLY HELPFUL for a 1st time home owner such as myself, who's accustomed to calling the super...I'm NOW the super!!!
I did it! It's almost sad how nervous I was compared to how easy it was, but this video made it happen (I was ready to pay someone to do something I found out I can do myself)!!
THANK U...THANK U...THANK U!!🙏🏽🥳
Same !
Thanks for sharing this information! I’m going to install curtain rods today!
Congrats on your home
@@caramel9600 THANK YOU!!🥳
You have no idea how important this video is for me.
One little trick that I use which seems to help is to fill the hole with spackle before pressing in the anchor and let it set up before attaching the screw. Snug fit and keeps the anchor from spinning.
William Bethune great idea!!!
How long do you usually wait for it to set up?
@@BeyondDestiny About 10 minutes or so.
your video helped me hang one of my first projects! I've never drilled any holes in anything or hung anything by having to drill holes and this helped SO MUCH so thank you! never had anyone to show me how to do these things growing up so this is much appreciated
Honestly ive always hated butterfly anchors. But this helped open my eyes. Thank you! Great content by the way. I can see your Chanel blowing up.
I loved this because I never knew what to do with those things😅 and they end up in a special place unto themselves (never to be used... just looked at 😳). Well, I'm no longer afraid of them thanks to this video.👍👌 By all means, keep posting this type too.👍💖👊
Good comparison. However, I don't think those last two "butterfly" anchors are meant to pop out again. They destroy the wall coming out, as you can see, and should be pushed/hammered and allowed to fall behind the drywall once the screw is removed.🙂
I think this was to represent how strong they hold and what would happen if the item hanging on them was way too heavy and got ripped from the wall.
Thank you!! I have like twenty years here and I continued thinking concrete wall can save a lot money. I'm learning a lot with your introduction. Thank you so much!!
You did not install your second anchor properly. It needs to be tightened up before you back it out to hand something on the screw. It should expand like anchor number 5. That's why there were little nubs on the side.
Thought the same thing.
He also hammered in the screw in one way too much.
Came to the comments to say the same thing. That second one was not installed properly.
Keep in mind these anchors are being tested and pulled straight out of the hole. When using these anchors, the force will be downward, towards the floor, not straight out. A more accurate test is to test the supporting weight pulling on it towards the floor.
I'd consider this video more of an instructional video as some of these anchors I've seen before but had no idea how to install.
I used the last butterfly anchor to hang a 25lbs mirror with a visible boat type rope in my bathroom. Worked like a charm and holds strong like a mother!
Because you need to make a good size hole for the anchor, I should have used a washer to help cover up the hole, although the rope holding the mirror covered it up pretty good.
Yes I agree those anchors are very strong! Thanks for checking out the video!
fill the hole with spackle before pressing in the anchor and let it set up before attaching the screw. Snug fit and keeps the anchor from spinning.
Just moved into a small Japanese home and my office room has literally no studs. Going to be trying the beefiest Anchor I can find for a wall mounted computer monitor. Great video! Thank you for uploading
So helpful for so many reasons. Thank you!
Really cool to see how these work. Thanks for the helpful video! Although, like you mentioned, the real test for most applications is going to be a downward force rather than trying to pull them straight out like you did. A better test probably would have been to maybe hammer straight down and see how well they held up. But great video 👍
You needed to use a "block" to demonstrate on the 2nd one, it works very similar to #5
Fascinating. But that 4th one (@ 4:18), when the screw went in, did the anchor snap/break? Was it supposed to do that?
Thanks a bunch for this interesting vid.
Great video so helpful for so many thank you
This video had to have gotten A LOT of ladies attention! Love it!!!! So simply explained and thank you.
Thank you!!
I like the process of using the 4th type you showed. Hasn't failed me yet!
In a concret or brick house you mostly need an anchor, too.
Before they invented anchors, they made a hole in the wall with a hammer. Then they filled it with mortar or other plaster and let it dry. The next day, they could put in a screw or a nail.
I like anchors 😁
Second one wasn’t tightened up enough
yeah i think the 2nd one should've expanded like the 5th one
I think if the second one had kept going, it would have pulled the opposite end back towards the wall to spread, kinda like the fifth one
How come so many homes have so many drywalls when they are clearly really weak. Like it takes barely any force to break one of these
Been using those "butterfly" ones for TVs and shelves with heavy items. Even had my two kids hang on my TV mount(=120lbs) and its SOLID.
This very helpful for a women who wants to do things herself! Thank you so much! Please upload more videos on how to actually hang something
Thanks for the info. The 4th was is the one I use all the time... now I am thinking about my closet shelves... 🤔
Thanks for showing the differences!
I've always wondered 🤔
Happy to show you, glad you learned something! Thanks for checking out the video!
Very helpful and awesome music too!
Great demonstration !!! Thanks
Your metal # 6 is used to put hooks on the ceiling. You put it through like you did but instead of the block of wood on the end, you screw a certain type of hook on the screw part until it tightens.
The second anchor, you’re supposed to tighten it so the backpart flares out, just like the fourth one. That’s why it does nothing, it’s not secured properly. You see the circle part missing on the middle of the back part? That’s there to make it fold easily behind the wall.
Thanks for the feedback.
Came to the comments to say the same thing. That second one was not installed properly. You need to screw the screw fully in and tighten down until in flairs behind the wall and catches, and then back the screw out slightly to hang what you're hanging.
How do you remove the anchors? Do you just unscrew it?
Could you perhaps do a video on furnace error codes/furnace parts, such as the ignitor and fan motors, and furnace repair in general? I know that's something I could definitely learn from!
This is something I will definitely look into! Thanks for the comment and for checking out the video!
If, for whatever reason, you need to remove the smaller anchors, first, remove the screw and then pry the end carefully out a bit, then you can pull it all the way out gently with pliers, then you can drywall patch over the hole.
To remove the plastic anchor that screws into your wall, just use a screw driver to ( gently ) unscrew it.
To remove the larger metal anchor with the expanded wings, just take out the screw and the the wing portion will fall behind the wall...you will end up with a relatively smaller hole to patch over, rather than pulling the whole anchor out and creating a huge hole.
Thank you for another informative video.😁 I knew that last wall anchor was going to do some damage, lol. I now have better wisdom on which wall anchors to hang with if I can't find a stud. I really appreciate the time you take out to teach us.
Happy to help! I love making these videos, it's nice to hear when it helps someone! Thanks for always checking out my videos, Georgia Peach!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair thank you for taking the time out to teach us. 😁 Your the best teacher I've found on UA-cam!
8:22 that one also looks like it should spread like an anchor, like the second one right to left
Number 4 shold be used with a screw that has no threads 3/4 or greater up to the head so it spins and retracts the plug.... # 5 EZ anchor should be drilled in but this sometimes causes the tip to break off, what I do is drill a hole as wide as the tip then hand screw it in this will make a superstrong fit.
My wall is dry and I have two woks hanging on it, where I hang them there is nothing (wood) to hang screws tight and they are wobbly. I’m going to buy some of these screw anchors, so the screws could be more sturdier, thanks for the tip! 👌🙂
Awesome. Hope the video helped, let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair it worked perfectly thanks 👌
Putting a wall-mounted cat bed in my factory-built home, barely any studs in this place so thanks a lot this helped me get a better drywall anchor as the ones that came with it were so awful it would fall out if I farted on it.
1st. Plug are for concrete or tile-wall, I use a glue to stop plugs spinning into hole 😉
. Great information. Thank you for the comparison. Could have been three minutes. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!! So easily explained and practical!
can we get details or links to the one you liked best?
thanks for the vid!
what about a classic metal Molly hanger? Like the next to the last plastic hanger. Advantage over the metal toggle bolt is that you can remove and replace the item you are hanging. Advantage over the plastic hanger is it will still work if you happen to hit a stud. Disadvantage is you have to drill it out to remove it, or hammer it deeper and spackle over it.
You rock for this video, thank you!!
Like the video but have a question….. would the butterfly type metal one be ok for ceiling mount of a tv? The mount as 4 fixing holes and the possibility of going into a joist is non existent…. Would you recommend the last one?
thanks so much! this saved me a lot of trouble.
Really cool man. Interesting to see.
Thanks!
I pretty much hate all drywall anchors and used most of them....the screw in type is best imo....can usually catch one stud
Looks like the second one should have the screw tightened until the rear part expanded. That would have transformed the result for it.
Came to the comments to say the same thing. That second one was not installed properly. You need to screw the screw fully in and tighten down until in flairs behind the wall and catches, and then back the screw out slightly to hang what you're hanging.
i think maybe i should have watched this _before_ accidentally destroying a portion of my wall
Hey, it happens haha thanks for watching!
Like your Estwing hammer by the way. Some guy years ago tried to tell me his fiberglass handle hammer was better.
Vern Scheck I’m a carpenter and have always had the 22oz as my hammer, same original one with the claw end
Hey Fixer, I use an anchor similar to the one 3rd from the right. However, it is much wider. When it is screwed in it anchors in much tougher. Really tough to pull out. Works great.
These are the worse fixings on the market. ..honestly I have load tested all Plasterboard fixings and these rank as the poorest fixing ever ! ua-cam.com/video/BpsBeFFfNes/v-deo.html
The Bullfix Plasterboard fixing is the best I have come across. ua-cam.com/video/7NCeDpdfTrg/v-deo.html
Thank you! Great setup for example!
Thanks for letting me know and thanks for watching!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have so many of them at the house (different sizes and shapes), now I know how to use them correctly. Thanks!!!
I definitely googled “plastic screw things” before I got here 😂😂😂
Thank you so much 😃👍🥰
Well, the "disappointed one" should be treated as others - you drill a hole before you insert the anchor, or you just screw it into the wall. Not with hammer! Never seen it done like this. And by my mind this kind of anchor is the best.
Very good point! Thank you for the feedback and for checking out the video!
I don't think it would make any difference. I like that screw in type because it's removable. The crucial question is "can it hold the weight needed?" If so, it's good even if the butterfly can hold more. At the same time, I wonder how much more is the limit of the butterfly, the video shows that it will come out if overloaded, it seems to be a lot more, but maybe not?
Would you have a weight comparison video? I have heavy things I want hung on my drywall
Hmm that is a good idea… I don’t right now but I can tell you I swear by the big metal butterfly ones for things like a microwave or tv mount. For other things not as heavy I love the plastic threaded ones. They are also solid. Hope this helps out. Thanks for watching!!
Thank u 1st home owners trying to mount my tv
No problem! I would go with the big butterfly style ones wherever you can’t get into studs! Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and good luck!
Excellent 👍👍
Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
What is the specific name of the anchor that youre sayin as youre new favorite? Do u they have it in amazon ? Tnx great video!
I went to home depot and got 6pack for $3 bucks..I know u want name,I just did a video on what kind I got.my closet crashed on me.i could not find 2by 4 in walls.
Hold up to 80 pounds..now my closet is sturdy as fook.💯
Pop-Toggel is name...
By Hillman company.
What about drilling and then soaking the area with superglue that would wick into the area to possibly strengthen it?
Thank you, u are awesome
Great to know. Thanks mate!
This was so helpful to me. Thank you!
Drill holes a bit smaller.....anchors should need a bit of force to sink into drywall...the smaller the hole while still being able to hammer it in the better it will be
You are definitely thinking and teaching like a teacher. Great exposition!
Very informative. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
Very useful bro. Thank a lot
2nd anchor works like butterfly anchor it would expand when fully screwed down.
Thanks
😁. Thanks for watching! 👍
For the first 3, do you stop when they stop pr can I drill in all the way flush???
thank you sir, really liked your style!
Loved the video. The subject, the comparisons, the how- tos, how nots, and damage control. Wish you had shown the simple un screwing method of removal/reuse. Thanks so much. Patricia from N.H. 👵🏻
a couple points.... a person cannot often reach behind the drywall and hold the anchor the way you did. the fact that it would start to turn makes it about useless. Also, you didn't include the common molly bolt system. They are supposed to not turn because of the points at the head, but I've found them to only tear up the hole and start spinning. They do work fine if you have the right tool, which will grab the head of the bolt and pull the expansion inside the wall. This tool is available on amazon and can be found by searching for molly bolt tool.
Helpful
Damn it, my anchors arent like these but im stuck with them.wish me luck!
One reason some of them failed is because they each have a different size screw that is for the anchor. But I still enjoy watching this. My favorite are the snap toggles.
snap toggles trap wires and short them , These are the worse fixings on the market. ..honestly I have load tested all Plasterboard fixings and these rank as the poorest fixing ever ! ua-cam.com/video/BpsBeFFfNes/v-deo.html
The Bullfix Plasterboard fixing is the best I have come across. ua-cam.com/video/7NCeDpdfTrg/v-deo.html
@@markhowe5539 How do snap toggles trap wires and short them out any more than any other anchor would. I've never had that problem. I watched the video you recommend an you didn't check behind the wall for wires before you drilled the pilot holes. So your method could short and destroy wires also.
And I use snap toggles and other anchors and have had nothing go wrong. Well some failed but most hold.
@@Samestori214 I did not need too, I built the wall and I knew there were no wires behind it ! Look at the toggle profile, a knive edge U- shaped metal profile as opposed to a flat plastic profile in the Bulllfix that cannot possibly cut through wires when tightened .
@@markhowe5539 ... Yes but the drill bit and hole auger that you use to drill the pilot hole could cause damage to wires. If there are wires next to were you are putting the anchor into. If there are no wires there then they won't get shorten out. This is the same as using the snap toggles. If there are no wires there how could they be damaged.
Keep using your system and I'll stick to mine. But to say that snap toggles damages wires is not true in all cases.
You are supposed to go all the way down with the second anchor like you did with the fifth one
Greatly appreciated!
The last anchor is mean to just be unscrewed. That butterfly part then just falls down into the wall. Then your hole is only as big as the drilled hole.
If I’m mounting a monitor to my wall can I use wall anchors or would it be safer to make sure I’m putting it into a stud?
I figured I'm 20 and should probably know some basic things my dad didn't teach me, thank you
Great vid
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing
The last metal one youre supposed to just unscrew and let the butterfly back drop into the wall
Good job thanks
What do you recommend to patch up holes in dry wall?
Hey there! I actually have a video for that! ua-cam.com/video/j6c6hDHGwL4/v-deo.html Hope it helps!
The Fixer thank you!
❤ Awesome
This is really awsome.
Thanks!
how do you remove the last anchor? Or is it stuck in the empty space forever lol
When undone they fall behind the plasterboard/drywall FOREVER 😅
Great video. Thanks. Lol I’ve always used at least 4 self taping anchors (anchor 4), to hang up my 50” flat panel tv. Never had issues. But this video really started to make me think about other options. Thanks.
Loved it
What size drill bit did you use?
On my way to Home Depot
What happens if you screw into a stud? I can’t get the anchor flush.
Hey, Matt! If it is one of the plastic ones you can carefully cut off the part of the anchor that wont go in flush with the wall. It will hold a screw, especially if you hit a stud. Hope this helps! Thanks for checking out the video!
Wider nylon anchors
