Definitely got a little bit crazy there for a second but everyone including you guys did a fantastic job handling it. This has been a really fun adventure and it's an honor to ride along with ya. Thanks for bringing us along.
Ahh - the conclusion, of an amazing adventure. Again super seeing the large number of Ercoupes... managing the conga line was quite a challenge for sure. All that flight was a sort of icing on the cake for the actual Oshkosh adventure itself. Exciting arrival - went very well. Truly memorable experience for you guys.
Hi - well, surviving but, age is getting the better of me! The old back limits standing very badly and anyways at the moment shop way too cold! Other med issues too. Never know - may yet get a video or two done again, try to keep optimistic :)
Hi - well, age is getting the better of me these days. Can't stand for long because of the old back and, other med issues too. Right now as well - too darned cold in shop. Never know, may yet manage a video or two if I can - no harm in hoping. :)
I had a knot of pride and envy well up in my throat celebrating with you as you turned off the pavement onto the grass. I hope to get to do the trip soon.
As I was touring the vintage plane section this year at OSH I had the good fortune to meet and enjoy a nice visit with you and Diane. You told me about your adventure getting to OSH and it has been awesome seeing it now on your videos just as you described. Amazing!! Thanks so much for sharing your story. …Hopefully J.B. bought you another bottle of whiskey 😄
What a fantastic video!! So enjoyed this leg of your awesome journey. Oshkosh was always on my bucket list, but alas, at 83 years old it doesn't look good at this point. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience, James and Diane!
Thanks for posting this! I was number 27 trying not to be snapped off the tail end! We all made it safely and an experience I will never forget. My GoPro crapped out at Fisk. Say hi to Diane and Charles.
Hey Craig! Would have been fun to have some of your GoPro footage to mix in as well. What a fun day! Any pics, maybe email me on www.ercoupetv.com? Thanks for commenting!
Hurrah! - I knew you'd make it! - easy to say as we did briefly chat on the ground the day of your departure - I was the lazy geezer on the red mobility scooter -lol I have posted before how impressive it is to see just how much an odyssey it is for many folks to make it to AirVenture each year. I will never gripe about my 3 hour drive up from my home in Chicago. Hope to see you again this year? Stay well.
Truly epic, James. Despite the confusion, everyone stayed cool and on task. I watched the “Flight” all the way from Wassau to touchdown on Flight Aware and ForeFlight that morning, particularly zeroing in on your Coupe. I’ve been looking forward to the real thing!
wow. that was quite an exciting hairy conga trail, the trail was getting a bit disjointed at one point but it all came together and the final leg went quick. That release of stillness when you were taxing in. DOWN.
Kind of a gaggle, but lots of fun. And not a great idea to offer directions without getting a positive ID first. Did three Bonanzas to OSH (which was beautifully organized and run), as well as Navions to OSH, and these things do happen.
Yeah, I know, I feel bad for that inexperience on my part. Something I will remember for next time. The guy behind who asked for the wing rock taught me a lesson.
Very cool James! Nice editing and overall video. Another awesome episode. Just curious, they didn’t identify position numbers with the tail numbers? That number of aircraft is insane, but it looks like it all worked out. Awesome opportunity and flying experience. Glad you captured it. Thanks for sharing! Fly safe
Thanks, Joe. I think the 'rock your wings ID' is what I needed to do, and didn't, in this situation. Lesson learned! Quite a bit of work to capture these things, but I figure it will be good to look back on when I have to give up my wings. And also, nice to share!
In 1982 the West Coast 120/140 club opened Oshkosh, [opening flight]. We flew echelons of 4 with 48 planes. You guys are showing poor flying technique here, I'm sorry to say. We had one day to practice, consisting of two sessions. We flew the last 100 miles in echelon to arrive at Oshkosh. I was a 150hr. pilot, that lived in Holland, and had come back to the USA on vacation !!! I was lead pilot [ guidon ] of the last echelon with my Wife and 2 1/2 yr. old daughter aboard.... I will never forget that flight, starting in Auburn, CA.
Your own folks sure did throw you some curves on the flight in, James. But "one way or another" you were gonna get to OSH. :-) A very fun perspective on that flight, thanks. Poor #9 being confused by the actions of #10 and your subsequent confusion about who just pulled in front of you. :-(
Joe, I don't think I'm going to make it to OSH in 2022.The Ercoupe Owners Club arranges the arrival into OSH. Lots of information on their website, and on the Facebook group.
Hey ercoupe-couple! I am so fascinated about your trips with the ercoupe, that I will sell my BO and by a ercoupe with the O200.. Anybody an idea how to get one in europe?
Yes, that was my mistake. My late-night proof watching wasn't thorough enough. UA-cam doesn't let me upload a fixed version, so I'm stuck with that now.
He wasn't a jerk, but we certainly learned some lessons on this flight, for sure. You need a positive ID before complaining about someone else being out of position, that was my key lesson learned.
@@JamesGood, he should have stayed in HIS position instead of fouling the aircraft order. He put others in danger by not following instructions. That is the whole reason for the pilot meeting/briefing before every formation flight.
The constant yapping about aircraft position was terrible. Good way to get in a midair, especially with the passenger constantly talking and worrying about 7,8,9,etc. Good learning moment though.. Easy to get caught up in irrelevant and distracting conversations. She just needs to not talk as much and focus on airspace / aircraft deconfliction. Cool aircraft.. Have always loved the Ercoupe. I really want to buy one now.
Why didn't any of you wag your wings to identify who was who? Number nine would have know right away he was behind number eight James and not the other way around.
Yaaaay...thanks James and Diane. Exactly what I need on a wet, cold, windy UK afternoon!
Definitely got a little bit crazy there for a second but everyone including you guys did a fantastic job handling it. This has been a really fun adventure and it's an honor to ride along with ya. Thanks for bringing us along.
Glad you came along, Kevin!

Oh no, Chris. You’re barely halfway through! You’re not getting out that easy. :)
Hey Chris. You have not been doing videos in your channel. You OK?
Hi - well, surviving but, age is getting the better of me! The old back limits standing very badly and anyways at the moment shop way too cold! Other med issues too. Never know - may yet get a video or two done again, try to keep optimistic :)

That was awesome James! Flight was busy and video was excellent. Great to be part of such an impressive and large aircraft type arrival. 👍😎

I remember our chat, thanks for saying hi again!
Ah yeah. Nice fix for our UK soggy Sunday. Cheers. (PS love the dawn sequences at Wasau.)
Wow that was intense . Conga line was well managed . Way to go you all. Amazing how many planes and air traffic involved in getting to the show.
What a journey ! Thks James and Diane for sharing such a great adventure! From a wet and rainy swiss day ;-)

Will do!
Wow you made it!! Great time watching your videos, keeps me looking forward to our next trip to Oshkosh in our C172.
Glad you enjoyed! Stay tuned for the return flight.

Thanks for the videos James. Love following along. Hope to take my Ercoupe along to Osh some day.
Well done James and Diane, in my books, a flight of two is more than enough for me - a flight of twenty five - amazing. Cheers from Oz
WOW, best Oshkosh Arrival posting I have seen! Been looking forward to this. Well done James and Diane and also Ercoupe Flight.
Thank you for the nice comment, glad you liked it!
Great series of videos. I have been waiting for this one to come out
Fantastic journey delighted you made it there safe and well! Really looking forward to the series continuing
Enjoying the series James and Diane
!
Truly epic, James. Despite the confusion, everyone stayed cool and on task.

Thanks, Ken! Hopefully we can meet there some day!
That group takeoff was amazing! Like you're heading off to battle!
That's what we were all thinking... :)
That was amazing work. Really enjoyed it.
Great series - you two are the bomb as a flying couple 👍😎
I’ll never forget that day! Great job up front.
We won't either! Hope it was OK to put you on the cover?!
@@JamesGood i’m honored! I just wish my GoPro had worked properly and you could’ve added all the fun we were having on the tail end of the Congo line.
Good work. You even managed to follow the guy behind!!!
haha, Fred Weick designed some clever features in the Ercoupe!
wow. that was quite an exciting hairy conga trail, the trail was getting a bit disjointed at one point but it all came together and the final leg went quick. That release of stillness when you were taxing in. DOWN.
Well that was exciting ! Very well done. Doncha hate when the tail GoPro dies on final !!
Yes, joe, yes I Do!
Great fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.
WONDERFUL what an amazing trip.
Sweet content. Little bit harrowing staying in a straight line. Great job!
Enjoyed the journey 👍
Nice, I'm loving this episode.
Well done James & Diane ...... welcome to the Show ....... ;-p
That’s incredible
And breath! What a team you and Diane make, my biggest regret is that my wife has had no desire to fly whatsoever.
What a ride!
"Excitement pee". I about blew a mouthful of coke through my nose when Diane said that.
Great video.
Full on! A flight of one into Osh is tricky enough! PS Glad you're re-monetised, didn't realise that was still going on from way back - ridiculous...
Great job number 9.
Your title said July 2022. Love your videos!
Gah! Late night proof viewing doesn’t work, apparently!
Who's on first?
Kind of a gaggle, but lots of fun. And not a great idea to offer directions without getting a positive ID first. Did three Bonanzas to OSH (which was beautifully organized and run), as well as Navions to OSH, and these things do happen.
Yeah, I know, I feel bad for that inexperience on my part. Something I will remember for next time. The guy behind who asked for the wing rock taught me a lesson.
James you made it look easy and orderly. What were you really thinking during the trip in to Ripon?
Pretty awesome I must say.
8 miles to Ripon how are u supposed to follow the guy behind you according to Air Coupe 1???
Very cool James! Nice editing and overall video. Another awesome episode. Just curious, they didn’t identify position numbers with the tail numbers? That number of aircraft is insane, but it looks like it all worked out. Awesome opportunity and flying experience. Glad you captured it. Thanks for sharing! Fly safe

Yeah, assuming makes an ass out of...
In my alternate BlachBird, again from Portugal. A hug.
James, how would another coupe join this year?
Joe, I don't think I'm going to make it to OSH in 2022.The Ercoupe Owners Club arranges the arrival into OSH. Lots of information on their website, and on the Facebook group.
Fun day!
now that your EAA adventure is over...what are you going to do for an encor?
The next adventure is about to start! Stay tuned, Mark.
Hey ercoupe-couple! I am so fascinated about your trips with the ercoupe, that I will sell my BO and by a ercoupe with the O200.. Anybody an idea how to get one in europe?
Porque q na decolagem vocs não deixaram a camara interna do cokpit filmar
When is Part 12 coming out?
I'm back working on it, took a bit of a break, Randy. Hopefully this coming weekend, if not, next!
Was number 10 the same guy you had problems with on the practice run?
No. I think I was the main culprit here, by ‘believing’ that number 9 was in front of me… we live and learn.
Now I see why the WWII RAF "Big Wing" concept didn't work!
We’ll done! I was surprised about the wake turbulence too when flying in procession. No adverts for the entire video by the way.
Thanks, Tom. Do you have UA-cam Premium?
No.
Puff.. very intense fly...
Nice 👍
That 172 made a potentially expensive gamble just to save a few minutes.
He could probably judge better than I could at the angle we saw it from. It worked out…
I remember doing this 2008. Easiest way into Oshkosh.
I need an Ercoupe!
You might check the date.
Yes, that was my mistake. My late-night proof watching wasn't thorough enough. UA-cam doesn't let me upload a fixed version, so I'm stuck with that now.
Dd you mean July 2021 it said (2022) when the vid started? Loved the vid Thank You!!
Yeah, my proof watching wasn't effective!
Situation of confusion like this, just follow the plane in front.
Well, apparently, even just doing that, things can get screwed up!
That mass takeoff was reminiscent of a MITO launch of B-52's from a SAC base during an ORI. Ha! 😁😁😁
In other words, Number 10 was a jerk! Totally unsafe what he was doing. Another great video James, thanks.
He wasn't a jerk, but we certainly learned some lessons on this flight, for sure. You need a positive ID before complaining about someone else being out of position, that was my key lesson learned.

White wings easiest to see?
Easier than the polished, for sure.
Those polished wings do blend into the horizon.
Why didn't any of you wag your wings to identify who was who? Number nine would have know right away he was behind number eight James and not the other way around.
We live and learn, I will do that in the future. Luckily number 11 suggested we do that, and helped sort us out.
Like herding cats
And those cats have been drinking, I fear!
Kind of a shit show enroute but worked out. Well done 👍
