In company I work for I've installed Jitsi Meet on our own servers and locked down the ability to create new meetings to only logged in users. Other than that there's no need for user accounts, so anyone having a link and meeting password can join in (great for meetings with people from outside the company). The links are much more complicated than ones from Zoom (well at least by default, as a person creating a meeting can also define the link themselves). The quality is really good. There's no need to install anything - it works in a browser. It has screen/window/tab sharing (works great at least in Chrome and Firefox). And everything is open source and uses open standards like WebRTC. As it's self-hosted, there's no privacy concern even though there's no E2E encryption with more than 2 people in the meeting.

Considering no one I'd known had never even heard of Zoom until a video about the problems with, it is truly a mystery.
Investigate who recommended it to schools. Since it was schools that seemed to be the ones that made it a big name.
Webex, Google meet, maybe discord but no.

Discord: *Stable and secure app that's been used for individuals and companies alike*

Zoom: *Unheard and has security issues*
Schools: I'll take your entire stock
It may be Discord’s aim more towards the individual market and the fact that once you have a Discord account you can do stuff like access NSFW servers. The last thing a school needs is for some parent to complain “My kid is looking at porn on this app the school told us to download!” even though it’s in no way the school’s fault.
That's the public's stigma against gamers at work. Old people see Discord is used by gamers therefore it must be horrible
@@BlazeOGlory that's why Discord is now pushing a big "we aren't just for gamers" campaign now. I wish my college would use Discord.
