Aww, you posted this up for my birthday, that's nice of you, thanks. If I remember right 'Doki Doki Morning' was recorded in 2010, they were aged 12, 11 and 11. The video was recorded in 2011 when they were 13, 11 and 11 and released shortly after Yui's and Moa's 12th birthdays (and if I'm wrong someone will correct me). The video was made on virtually no budget, this was their very first song and they were a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin. The costumes were made up of borrowed clothes (from other students and staff members). The "musicians" here were known as 'Babybones' - a fake band (if the band is wearing skeleton costumes in any video you watch, that is them) who mimed at live shows to a backing track ... they were also in the 'Gimme Chocolate' video. The Kami Band made their first appearance playing the encores in a show in 2012 and did the same for a couple of shows after that. They finally took over for the last 5 songs at Legend 1997 (Su's 16th birthday) in December 2013 and have been ever present since then (you obviously saw the US Kamis who have been playing on the US tour this time).
You have already seen 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 (and live in Arizona of course). "ima nanji" those words they use to end each verse means "What time is it?". The morning rush, beating the clock, mixed in with the visual pictures of clock gears and the clock face in Suzuka's eye....the theme of time is strong in this song.
Yui and Moa were chi chai (small) back then, even for Japanese standards! It became a running joke among Sakura Gakuin of which one was growing faster or not at all.😄 In this video, Suzuka towers over them at a whopping 5 feet. MoiMoi were literally only about 4’6” at age 12, and really worried if they’d never grow anymore! Also, check out the cutest ears in metal on Suzuka! KAWAAIII!!!💪🏻🤘🏻
In later videos if you look closely Suzuka is wearing heels, Moa and Yui are not. Moa now is just about the same height as Suzuka. Also you really get how small they are standing next to westerners as they are interviewed.

Their original budget was so small that Su's coat was borrowed from one of the Sakura Gakuin teachers. Moa's vest was borrowed from Yui, and Yui borrowed hers from fellow student Raura. The girls taught the skeleton dudes the dance moves themselves. The last live performances of this song were at the 'Legend S' concerts for Su's 20th birthday in December 2017.

Hi@@autohmae, long time no see online. Yes, I went to Babymetal's live shows three times, including the one at Makuhari Messe in 2018 with 7 of them on the stage. Well, I am not famous but I was surprised that there were a couple of people who recognized me from the video with Hedgy and talked to me when I was in a queue at Makuhari Japan live in November last year and at Fox God, a rock bar in Shinjuku, as well. I've not been active for a while when they went into the dark side, although I liked the show in Makuhari. I am glad that they are back with three of them on stage now. I liked the Metal Galaxy album and I am looking forward to their show in Osaka in November for the first time for me to see the third girl live on stage whoever that is going to be.
@@junichi9182 .Trust me if I say: if some people came up to you that means a lot more people recognized you.So yes, you are kind of famous. :-) 2018 wasn't an easy year for Babymetal and their fans that's for sure. I'm from the Netherlands in Europe so I was at one of the last shows with the "Muscle Metal Sisters" and we could see they were really enjoying themselves on stage by that time. They clearly had gotten used to performing with Babymetal. Especially the second day in Utrecht, Netherlands. For everyone on stage and for the crowd. You could see the awkwardness was gone, everyone set the problems aside for a moment and was just there to enjoy themselves. A bunch of people who have been to shows in Japan said: this show (day 2 in Utrecht) was the same or close to the same atmosphere/enjoyment as in Japan. I hope it was true and I hope the people on stage and Su's and Moa's parents (who were there as well) felt that way too. 2019 feels like turning over a new leaf. With things to look forward too. At the Amuse shareholders meeting it was mentioned Yui's health is good (enough) and she is working on her new career. So instead of feeling sad about Yui I'm actually excited to see what she's been working on.

@@junichi9182 Yeah, almost nobody went to see/greet them out of respect/privacy. And I didn't see any photos online either. So clearly everyone was very respectful about it. From what I understand: university in Japan is a less busy time than the other education from the years before. Their was a rumor many years before Su was also going to uni. ? I don't know, but I can imagine they would choose some kind of entertainment education and they work in Babymetal could be something to write a paper on, etc. :-)

Babymetal have 3 stage "bands" that they have used. The first, as in this video, is called Babybones. A mimic band, where they only mimic playing instruments. In the Megitsune video they use the Kitsune band, also a mimic band, that uses traditional Japanese instruments in the music video. The actual Kami band was first used in Legend IDZ Apocalypse concert(late 2012) at the end of the concert for their encore performance. The first time they did a full concert with the Kami band was in 2014 at Budokan Red Night and Black Night. They then went on their first World Tour starting at Sonisphere.
@Aldo Metal They had full Kami Band performances before Budokan. That was the idea behind the 'BABYMETAL DEATH MATCH TOUR - May Revolution' in 2013. It was all about "getting training" with a live metal band. Also the only time they've had a woman Kami Band member, the violinist named MIZ.
@FloppyHares I've heard that, but I've never seen the person specifically identified. Just as some of the violinists for that song might have been women.
This song was recorded in 2010, and the video released on 2011, it is their first song. They didn't have much budget - the clothes for the costumes were borrowed from other students and teachers. The record company bought the first costumes for Headbanger in 2012. Ijime Dame Zettai was their second song, an iine their third. Su was about the same height she is now, she hasn't grown much. Yui and Moa were just over 130cm tall though, they were super tiny. Doki Doki I'm not sure should be translated. It is onomatopoeia for the sound you heart makes in your ears when you are really excited. Some of the translators get too literal IMO. The best one for Babymetal is a blogger named Du-metal. Just google any song followed by Du-metal and you will get the best translation. Glad you enjoyed the show. I always thought the girls pictures don't do them justice, they are so beautiful in person.
I think what gets posted on babymetal net website is actually just a copy of Du-metal site (last time I checked). :-) But yes, Du-metal blogspot site is where you need to go.
FYI: kami are Japanese spirits or gods (not ghouls) . In Shinto almost everything has a kami god of its own. Thus these are the gods of guitar, bass, and drums. (Watch Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, or My Neighbor Tottoro to see some other kami used in Japanese folklore.)
Doki Doki Morning (very roughly translated) = Exciting Morning. "Doki doki" represents a quickly beating heart, which refers to excitement and / or anxiety. The song, in a nutshell, is about getting ready for school and they're running late, hence the references to time. This music video is the first video that they released. Grington and Rick Wagner already covered all the other tasty bits, so this is all I have this time around. I'm glad you both had fun at the concert. See you next time.

Hey this is Chris Cox, I switched to my new channel. I am thrilled that you had a great time at the show. I saw them at the Orlando show. The band on tour now is a fill in band, most of the members are from Galactic Empire. The band in this video was just actors, they appear in a few of the early videos. Glad Regina joined in for this! Babymetal had so little money and resources back then that even those outfits they were wearing were borrowed clothes. This was literally their only song for the first year or two. The Kami Band came a few years later, and their white kimonos are how corpses are dressed in Japan.

The girls even had to borrow those costumes, there was no extra money. The show you saw in the choco vid was the show that started with the Babybones fake band BUT the Kami Band was brought on for 5 songs at the end. This is why Headbanger, DEATH, and a few others have the large statue in the background and live musicians but Choco had Babybones and the same set.. They've fronted the Kamis ever since.

They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar.
If you enjoy their choreo that much, watch the video without all the jump cuts. It's called the Air Dance Version, and it's just the girls dancing. Finally a BABYMETAL reaction after weeks duuuuude ^^ Grigton300, here in the comments, basically answered everything you asked already LOL; this was indeed their very first song, made with no budget cause BM - at that time - was just a temporarely side-project of Sakura Gakuin, which started (iirc) when Su was about to graduate and therfore leave Sakura Gakuin to pursue her idol career. The controversial Koba-Metal (Kei Kobayashi - the producer) then, inspired by the vocal prowness and talent of Suzuka, decided to try and fuse his long-loved metal music with popular (in Japan) J-POP into what then became kawaii-metal. There was absolutely no tells that it'd become this huge success...so there were little to no money invested in it (in fact there's a very moving video from the graduation ceremony of Su, where Moa literally burst into tears at the thought that her friend would leave - at that time BM was already formed, but there was very little hope that the band could actually last). As Grigton said, costumes in this video are basically DIY mods of Sakura Gakuin uniforms + borrowed pieces (like Su jacket iirc borrowed from one of her teachers ecc..), visual effects are pretty trash and the band is not the Kami band but a "fake-band". It's also worth adding that most of the hate BM recieved earlier and even after the Sonisphere performace was due to a) the fake band prior to Kami (cause they were not playing) and b) the fact that on the very first live performances in Japan, the girls were playback singing. The live-singing BM did not started that long before Sonisphere - and that is also why the UK performance is even more impressive. And also why ppl were skeptical for a long time, cause you are prone to ask yourself how can these very young girls can move, dance, jump and then sing so well.
@R00T BABYMETAL started soon after Sakura Gakuin began in 2010, not just before Su was about to graduate in 2013. At the time of Su's graduation, it had already been decided that BABYMETAL would continue as an independent group. Moa was just crying because Su was leaving Sakura Gakuin.
If you are listening to studio tracks, you are not hearing the Kami Band at all. The Kami Band is only known as the live performance band. In the studio, all are other studio musicians and producers.
Unpopular opinion: I'd be fine with the band that they had on this tour playing at the forum with them, too. They've done right by the ladies, and I think they deserve to have the big stage at the Forum and finish the US tour with them.

Then when BM goes back to Japan for their big dates there, the original Kami band can join back up. Im sure there's a lot I don't know about logistically, I'm just spitballing
JRoze555 There is no permanence in the KAMI band. It was never meant to be that way. They hide the band members in robes and face paint or masks for that reason. Even when doing the big shows in Japan it wasn't uncommon to have a different player between two shows on consecutive nights. There are so many backing tracks in Babymetal either way. Building on Perfume, they could just perform to the backing tracks perfectly well. Once they get the ear buds and click tracks going it is just a matter of timing. If they could get away with it they would just rotate all the members of Babymetal as they have done with Yui's spot in the lineup.

The Kami band didnt record the first two records with the girls, this was done with studio musicians. I think only one Kami band member did one song recording. Im not sure how much involvement they have on the new album.

I was "shocked" seeing how early the girls started as Baby Metal, but as we newbies now come to understand: these girls were indeed the chosen ones to make Baby Metal the phenomenon it is today. I mean look at us, watching their videos from 6,5,4 years ago AND going to their shows during the 2019 US tour! YES= This song is totally more Jpop, and it feels like the "tester song" the record company wanted to use for introducing Kawaii Metal to the public way back then. And one more thing, their choreography is mostly done by Mikiko who is an important Japanese choreographer. She also does choreography for Amuse's biggest act Perfume. She was the stage director and choreographer for Japan's cultural presentation at the 2016 Summer Olympics closing ceremony. Su-Metal, Perfume, Mikiko, and Riho Sayashi (one of the 3 Avengers on the current tour) are all from Hiroshima. You should react to Perfume sometime. "Techno-pop" is how they describe themselves. Suzuka Nakamoto was never "that tall". Even as an adult, she is maybe 5'3. Most Japanese women are not very tall. I prefer them that way. Yui Mizuno was the best member and she's gone.

Usual Kami Band members was doing recording back in Japan with other bands. They could appear at the album release by the 11th.
I am hoping they will be at the Forum show on the 11th. People are expecting the show to be recorded for bluray release.
They have engagements in Japan on the 12th so probably not going to happen, unfortunately. (Especially with Japan being 12hr ahead, that's not going to leave much time.)

If I remember right 'Doki Doki Morning' was recorded in 2010, they were aged 12, 11 and 11. The video was recorded in 2011 when they were 13, 11 and 11 and released shortly after Yui's and Moa's 12th birthdays (and if I'm wrong someone will correct me).
The video was made on virtually no budget, this was their very first song and they were a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin. The costumes were made up of borrowed clothes (from other students and staff members).
The "musicians" here were known as 'Babybones' - a fake band (if the band is wearing skeleton costumes in any video you watch, that is them) who mimed at live shows to a backing track ... they were also in the 'Gimme Chocolate' video. The Kami Band made their first appearance playing the encores in a show in 2012 and did the same for a couple of shows after that. They finally took over for the last 5 songs at Legend 1997 (Su's 16th birthday) in December 2013 and have been ever present since then (you obviously saw the US Kamis who have been playing on the US tour this time).
You have already seen 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 (and live in Arizona of course). How about watching (and maybe reacting to) the very first appearance of the Kami Band at Legend I on 6th October 2012 (exactly 7 years ago today)? Yui and Moa were chi chai (small) back then, even for Japanese standards! It became a running joke among Sakura Gakuin of which one was growing faster or not at all.😄 In this video, Suzuka towers over them at a whopping 5 feet. MoiMoi were literally only about 4’6” at age 12, and really worried if they’d never grow anymore! Also, check out the cutest ears in metal on Suzuka!

Pretty much everything that followed was because this unexpectedly blew up online.
Their original budget was so small that Su's coat was borrowed from one of the Sakura Gakuin teachers.
Moa's vest was borrowed from Yui, and Yui borrowed hers from fellow student Raura.
The girls taught the skeleton dudes the dance moves themselves.
The last live performances of this song were at the 'Legend S' concerts for Su's 20th birthday in December 2017.

Hi@@autohmae, long time no see online. Yes, I went to Babymetal's live shows three times, including the one at Makuhari Messe in 2018 with 7 of them on the stage. Well, I am not famous but I was surprised that there were a couple of people who recognized me from the video with Hedgy and talked to me when I was in a queue at Makuhari Japan live in November last year and at Fox God, a rock bar in Shinjuku, as well.
I've not been active for a while when they went into the dark side, although I liked the show in Makuhari. I am glad that they are back with three of them on stage now. I liked the Metal Galaxy album and I am looking forward to their show in Osaka in November for the first time for me to see the third girl live on stage whoever that is going to be.
@@junichi9182 .Trust me if I say: if some people came up to you that means a lot more people recognized you.So yes, you are kind of famous. :-) 2018 wasn't an easy year for Babymetal and their fans that's for sure. I'm from the Netherlands in Europe so I was at one of the last shows with the "Muscle Metal Sisters" and we could see they were really enjoying themselves on stage by that time. They clearly had gotten used to performing with Babymetal. Especially the second day in Utrecht, Netherlands. For everyone on stage and for the crowd. You could see the awkwardness was gone, everyone set the problems aside for a moment and was just there to enjoy themselves. A bunch of people who have been to shows in Japan said: this show (day 2 in Utrecht) was the same or close to the same atmosphere/enjoyment as in Japan. I hope it was true and I hope the people on stage and Su's and Moa's parents (who were there as well) felt that way too. 2019 feels like turning over a new leaf. With things to look forward too. At the Amuse shareholders meeting it was mentioned Yui's health is good (enough) and she is working on her new career. So instead of feeling sad about Yui I'm actually excited to see what she's been working on.

From what I understand: university in Japan is a less busy time than the other education from the years before. Their was a rumor many years before Su was also going to uni. ?
I don't know, but I can imagine they would choose some kind of entertainment education and they work in Babymetal could be something to write a paper on, etc. :-)

Babymetal have 3 stage "bands" that they have used. The first, as in this video, is called Babybones. A mimic band, where they only mimic playing instruments. In the Megitsune video they use the Kitsune band, also a mimic band, that uses traditional Japanese instruments in the music video. The actual Kami band was first used in Legend IDZ Apocalypse concert(late 2012) at the end of the concert for their encore performance. The first time they did a full concert with the Kami band was in 2014 at Budokan Red Night and Black Night. They then went on their first World Tour starting at Sonisphere.
The 2014 WT didn't start at Sonisphere; they'd played Paris and Cologne before Sonisphere. ;-)

This song was recorded in 2010, and the video released on 2011, it is their first song. They didn't have much budget - the clothes for the costumes were borrowed from other students and teachers. The record company bought the first costumes for Headbanger in 2012.
Ijime Dame Zettai was their second song, an iine their third.
Su was about the same height she is now, she hasn't grown much. Yui and Moa were just over 130cm tall though, they were super tiny.
Doki Doki I'm not sure should be translated. It is onomatopoeia for the sound you heart makes in your ears when you are really excited. Some of the translators get too literal IMO. The best one for Babymetal is a blogger named Du-metal. Just google any song followed by Du-metal and you will get the best translation.

FYI: kami are Japanese spirits or gods (not ghouls) . In Shinto almost everything has a kami god of its own. Thus these are the gods of guitar, bass, and drums. (Watch Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, or My Neighbor Tottoro to see some other kami used in Japanese folklore.)

Doki Doki Morning (very roughly translated) = Exciting Morning. "Doki doki" represents a quickly beating heart, which refers to excitement and / or anxiety. The song, in a nutshell, is about getting ready for school and they're running late, hence the references to time.

Babymetal had so little money and resources back then that even those outfits they were wearing were borrowed clothes. This was literally their only song for the first year or two. The Kami Band came a few years later, and their white kimonos are how corpses are dressed in Japan.
Cool seeing you both in a video. I'm going to be needing Ibuprofen in a few days too, for sure, it's on the live show checklist XD This is the their very first music video, and Babymetal was very much still in the experiment phase. The girls even had to borrow those costumes, there was no extra money. The Kami's came around a little later but I can't recall how soon after, the skeletons did stick around a bit and just pretended to play. Maybe when Rick Wagner shows up he can add missing info. It's technically not the Kamiband. It's the studio band. The Kamiband did not exist when Doki Doki Morning debuted.
The show you saw in the choco vid was the show that started with the Babybones fake band BUT the Kami Band was brought on for 5 songs at the end. This is why Headbanger, DEATH, and a few others have the large statue in the background and live musicians but Choco had Babybones and the same set.. They've fronted the Kamis ever since.

They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar.
In this Video was Su-Metal 13, Yui-Metal 12 and Moa-Metal 12.
If you enjoy their choreo that much, watch the video without all the jump cuts. It's called the Air Dance Version, and it's just the girls dancing. Grigton300, here in the comments, basically answered everything you asked already LOL; this was indeed their very first song, made with no budget cause BM - at that time - was just a temporarely side-project of Sakura Gakuin, which started (iirc) when Su was about to graduate and therfore leave Sakura Gakuin to pursue her idol career. The controversial Koba-Metal (Kei Kobayashi - the producer) then, inspired by the vocal prowness and talent of Suzuka, decided to try and fuse his long-loved metal music with popular (in Japan) J-POP into what then became kawaii-metal. There was absolutely no tells that it'd become this huge success...so there were little to no money invested in it (in fact there's a very moving video from the graduation ceremony of Su, where Moa literally burst into tears at the thought that her friend would leave - at that time BM was already formed, but there was very little hope that the band could actually last). As Grigton said, costumes in this video are basically DIY mods of Sakura Gakuin uniforms + borrowed pieces (like Su jacket iirc borrowed from one of her teachers ecc..), visual effects are pretty trash and the band is not the Kami band but a "fake-band". It's also worth adding that most of the hate BM recieved earlier and even after the Sonisphere performace was due to a) the fake band prior to Kami (cause they were not playing) and b) the fact that on the very first live performances in Japan, the girls were playback singing. The live-singing BM did not started that long before Sonisphere - and that is also why the UK performance is even more impressive. And also why ppl were skeptical for a long time, cause you are prone to ask yourself how can these very young girls can move, dance, jump and then sing so well.

At the time of Su's graduation, it had already been decided that BABYMETAL would continue as an independent group. Moa was just crying because Su was leaving Sakura Gakuin.

If you are listening to studio tracks, you are not hearing the Kami Band at all. The Kami Band is only known as the live performance band. In the studio, all are other studio musicians and producers.

Unpopular opinion: I'd be fine with the band that they had on this tour playing at the forum with them, too. They've done right by the ladies, and I think they deserve to have the big stage at the Forum and finish the US tour with them.

JRoze555 There is no permanence in the KAMI band. It was never meant to be that way. They hide the band members in robes and face paint or masks for that reason. Even when doing the big shows in Japan it wasn't uncommon to have a different player between two shows on consecutive nights. There are so many backing tracks in Babymetal either way. Building on Perfume, they could just perform to the backing tracks perfectly well. Once they get the ear buds and click tracks going it is just a matter of timing. If they could get away with it they would just rotate all the members of Babymetal as they have done with Yui's spot in the lineup.

The Kami band didnt record the first two records with the girls, this was done with studio musicians. I think only one Kami band member did one song recording. Im not sure how much involvement they have on the new album.

To this point only Leda (one of the guitarists) has been given credit on a Babymetal album. It is basically unknown who is playing what on the albums.

She was the stage director and choreographer for Japan's cultural presentation at the 2016 Summer Olympics closing ceremony. Su-Metal, Perfume, Mikiko, and Riho Sayashi (one of the 3 Avengers on the current tour) are all from Hiroshima. You should react to Perfume sometime. "Techno-pop" is how they describe themselves. @@autohmae Not sure what their source would be. Corporate earning statements don't usually break it down to individual acts. The big 3, at least in Western markets are Babymetal, One OK Rock, and Perfume. This year Perfume did Coachella and Babymetal did Glastonbury, both huge music festivals.

Su-Metal tall? She's 5'1 (1.54m) now .... so yeah :D
Yui and Moa were 11 (and around 4'6") and Su was 12 when they filmed this. The costumes were mostly borrowed or cobbled together. It was major low budget. BTW, it's not that Su is tall (she is around 5'2", it was that Yui and Moa were absolutely tiny.

Suzuka Nakamoto was never "that tall". Even as an adult, she is maybe 5'3. Most Japanese women are not very tall. I prefer them that way. Yui Mizuno was the best member and she's gone.
