Always awesome to see an HDV camcorder in action! Even if it was just a matter of reconnecting everything, it’s still handy to have spare parts for it. Nice to hear the audio working as intended again, it has a nice picture!
Does the box of microphones still have a label on it prohibiting their microwaving? The HDR-HC7, at least to my eyes and ears, is an outstanding camcorder. I'd use the one I have more often, but I don't want to wear it out.
Picture quality from that old camcorder is really very good indeed! 😃 I'm happy see/hear that the microphone issue was fairly easily fixed too; the 'new' mic board/element sounds far more solid, and with less background noise, than the original dodgy one! 👍
To be fair, the high-pitched whine in the first part of the video was from my laptop's cooling fan (it was rendering a video), not from the camcorder itself.
I think I might have to pick one of these up since I have my little portable HDMI recorder (and through some experimentation, I have found that it preserves interlacing so QTGMC can have a go at it). Much like the head of IT and HVAC/R operations at Walsh Motors, I'd like to keep tape mechanism use to a minimum, but hey, if I can get HDMI out of it, I don't even need to touch the tape mechanism other than as a curiosity (because let's be reel.. apologies, that was bad-it's almost required to run at least one tape through a camcorder when you get it just because tapes, them's the rules I suppose). I think I recall the HC7 having full size HDMI, am I remembering correctly? If so, I'm gonna have a field day with this camcorder.

Nice to see you were able to repair the camcorder :)
I spy a box for a Hitachi Blu-Ray hybrid camcorder!
I already showed it in my "2000s camcorders" video on my main channel.
I don't think I saw that one yet. I'll check it out! @@vwestlife
Nice!

Actually a HC9 (the HC7 I was eyeing got bought while I was sourcing documentation, but a HC9 is available for the same price).
