Band-Maid was not the first Japanese band I have ever heard, but the have become the best band I ever heard. I still appreciate all the others but these ladies have really put together something special.
If you haven't watched Endless Story live, yet, you need to watch it. It is the perfect ending to a concert, especially one that ends your 10th Anniversary tour.
You just have to appreciate a band that truly appreciates their fans. It's the circle of love energy. From us to them and them to us. Simply amazing. You may find a band that does a song showing fan appreciation...but with the Maids...3 songs and counting. Long live Band-Maid! PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
I don't have the words to describe the depth of my emotions when I watched this on the livestream. They almost single-handedly got me through some really bad times. They can do no wrong in my eyes. Thanks Buddha!
@@GaryHolloway-810 Speaking of livestreams... I just bought a ticket to NEK! at Shibuya Eggman that starts tomorrow (at 3 am for me 🙂) Just got annaounced.
I think this song helped a lot of us through a tough time. Great song and the talk by Saiki before the song was a tearjerker for sure. Thanks for sharing your reaction.
Just loving your reactions. Band Maid has changed my life - I know it sounds silly for a 66 year old man to say this. But, I stand by those words, these ladies truly are a miracle. I’m glad you discovered them too, and I’m enjoying sharing this journey with you.
"About Us", in the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Bestie, Memorable, Daydreaming, The One, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile, is an amazing song and personal message to their fans - a direction I'm glad to see them add to their journey toward world domination. And we get to hear MISA play the vibe she so enjoys. Their beautiful DVD/BD/CD set with 100 page picture book of this incredible concert is unbelievable! Thanks V-Bud, for bringing "About Us" to your viewers!
I discovered them before covid, and they were booked at the famous Budokan arena when the covid rug was pulled out from under them. They were just starting to really break through, and all of us who already viewed it as criminal that the whole world didn't know who they were, were just really devastated. These ladies deserved massive fame and here their Budokan gig was canceled and it's covid time. The band saw how sad we were for them, and they wrote this song to us all to say it's okay. We're still here - we've got this! What a band!
Originally supposed to be unveiled at the Nippon Budokan, but the show was cancelled due to the pandemic. They did a live stream instead where Saiki talks about the situation.
@@thevikingbuddha @Ohrenje That did the member documentaries, has a video on his site that is called "About Us" That has a good translation as she does the introduction. You'll cry. 🙂
When the song was written, it was meant as a gift to the fans.... since they were supposed to play at the world famous Budokan in Tokyo. At the end of the 2020 gig they ran an add, where they announced this gig which was supposed to be held a year later... Then the pandemic struck. It looked good for a while, the numbers were going down, so the Japanese government deicided to open up. Highly restricted in numbers, mask requirements etc. Sadly just a couple of weeks before the concert they were forced to lock the country down again. I looked at this online-concert live, and you could see it on the girls. They were pro's, but you could see how disappointed they were. Kind of got the feeling that Miku was heavily invested in "About us", and probably felt it extra hard that it couldn't be performed at the mighty Budokan. ..and I guess it's the reason why Saiki had to hold a speech before the song?
Hey Viking Buddah we are having a live Maidstream this Saturday night 10:00 pm est on Creativity Talkings reaction channel. It would be awesome if you could possibly stop by to say hi and help us support the Maids. 🍺😁🤘🏻🕊️
I watched this LIVE, from the US and had to get up at like 3AM. Band-Maid kept a lot of us going in that terrible time of the Plandemic. They never stopped playing, though many did, and kept moving forward. They did these PPV LIve streams and making/writing music for us. This song embodies their true souls, this is who Band-Maid really is. Those that watched this LIVE during that time, know.
There's only one studio version of this song: it was released as a limited edition vinyl EP prior to that show. It's good ... but half as good as this version, that everyones considers to be the definitive/ultimate version of "About Us". Live, Saiki's emotion works wonders.
'Daydreaming is emotional', but this feels on another level, especially if you were a fan before the COVID Clampdown. The only ones that come close to this are, 'Memorable' a little bit, 'Endless Story' LIVE because of the ending of the 10th Year Anniversary Tour and Miku as Cluppo 'With You'. But, please pronounce Saiki's name correctly, Psyche, and not Sai-Iki. There's only one i.
The tour was in 2022 as you said, so after the pandemic, while this song was first performed during the pandemic in 2021 on their online live show. I think you were talking about "Memorable", not this song.
Actually the proper pronunciation of her name is sah-eee-kee. It is common to run the a and i together though. I have heard Miku say sah-eee-kee during omajinai time and get the audience to repeat it that way. To be fair, I have also heard her do it the two syllable way. Technically it is a three syllable name but either way is acceptable.
@@ALAN_COX Yes, but if you say it quickly, i.e., normally, the ah-ee sound of the ai becomes the long i of English. Like how the eh-ee sound of ei becomes the long a of English.

One of their love letters to their fans. This always makes me misty eyed. Never had a band affect me like these wonderful ladies do.
The line "I will light your life up with my voice" gets me every time....
She has done for me what she said she would do :)
MISA always seems to play her bass to perfectly create the emotional feel needed on every one of their songs, especially the slower ones.
