This a very helpful idea to all viewer of DIY (Do It Yourself). It means if don't have any carbs you can the idea from Vladimir again. So next time do not throw you old carburetor. Again thank you very very much Vladimir the Great. Hope the conversion kit manufacturer will not get angry from you. I already use my gen set with LPG gas without the conversion kit withe help of your other videos. Gasoline cannot be stored for several months but LPG wow ready to fire your Gen-set any time even after few months.
Thanks a lot and God Bless

Great job! Vlad. Serves the purpose exactly. There are always risks. But you have covered the theory fully. Way more than most could dream of. Can everyone operate this safely? Probably not, and that’s because most of those people don’t really understand basic physics and if it’s not a turnkey operation, they’re up the creek without a paddle. Thank you for sharing.

This was just my very first discovery about natural gas and air mixture. I did improve this invention by installing automatic throttle inside the pipe which I made from nickel and little shaft from old carburetor and it worked perfectly for me every time I used it. Then I had someone interested in it so I sold it. I believe the generator was safe to use, it just needed more permanent gas hose. And it does not need to be a big hose. 10 HP engine doesn't need large supply of gas.

I'm impressed. Only problem is you need the valve on the pipe open to allow it to mix air with natural gas. If left and unattended and it stalls, the propane will come out of that valve as you have no automatic shut off.

That's pretty good but the problem is that there is no governor to handle different loads automatically. You are the governor. It's too bad they don't sell the carb conversion for the Briggs. I bought a tri fuel carburetor for my small Chinese engine on e-bay for $38. Took only 4 or 5 minutes to install and I was good to go. And you are right about the hose size. I use a hose on my 3.6KW generator that has an inner diameter of about a 1/4 inch. I cringe when I see these guys buy these large and very expensive hoses just to run a small engine. They are spending more on the conversion kit and hose than I spent on my brand new generator and carb conversion.

Deucealive75 I think with this gentleman is trying to show is in a pinch with a little ingenuity you can survive,,,we had straight-line wind a while back in my area that pulled electric poles up out of the ground for miles no one had any electricity in our little village for right around three weeks one year and it was 98° and more outside,,,, I had two big generators(one for my mother and myself) I had to drive to the next county to buy gas for them because nobody in our area had electric not even the gas station,,, it cost me $68 a day to run those two generators $68 every 24 hours,,, I was starting to run out of money gas was pretty high back then,,,learning how to use natural gas in an emergency situation like this saved my 🥓 🥓 bacon,,,I was running Kohler engine oil 10W-30 And I ran them 24 seven shut them down to check the oil every two days,,,,I had a great big giant yellow mcCalla from tsc (it had a 11 hp Honda clone what they call a Chonda 5700 W generator down at at my mothers place and a 4000 W generator from Menards(Chinese job) down here at my place and we got by all right,,, I think God we both have natural gas grills it was very easy to run off of that into the generators,,, we had those gas grills installed years ago and they work out rather well themselves,,,, since then I have installed a little bit of solar I still have my big giant generators however I also bought a 2000 W champion digital inverter generator much smaller uses much less fuel and I also bought a Honda EU 2000 digital inverter again uses much less ⛽️ fuel.......

This would actually work, just by holding the tubing next to the intake. Of course that is impractical. My concern would be; a backfire of the engine would put momentary excess pressure on the meter and the house appliances. Not sure how that would work out. Nice demo, thanks.

This is a good idea, but only if you are missing a carb. No one should take their carb off of a motor for this. With a direct connection like this, you force flow to a certain degree only to keep engine running. If a load hits the generator, you would have to run out to genset, increase gas, and adjust at the air. Then when load inceased you would have to do everything in reverse. So while neat, no cigar.

    • @tysesty

I think I do have video of final product but I didn't share it since there was not much interest in it.
It was still running with out the gas regulator, I just adjusted the gas and air flow with medium load on it and the throttle was doing the rest of the job. It was actually working pretty good if I didn't have any big power surge. It started very easy when it was cold but I had hard time to start it when it was hot, no idea why.
This small Husky gen I just converted is running like champ any time. You can see it in other video.
I got into these conversions because of lot of problems with carbs and gasoline. Also water will accumulate in gas tank if you don't keep it full all the time because of the humidity here. So if you don't use the gen very often it is much better to run it on nat. gas or propane.

@@tysesty, I've seen this done with the carb in place. You put a gas valve like you're using on the engine close to the carb, then pipe it with a flexible BBQ gas line from a shutoff at the house to the generator. then you have all the controls next to one another. I never said you had the carb, just said it was a better idea.

One big problem, respectfully,..you don't know or understand properly how a generator works.
Allow me to explain, these types of mobile gasoline generators have governors that are linked to the carburetor and for good reason. These generators are made to run at a constant speed of 3500 r.p.m,... why ? because at 3500 r.p.m that is where the generator will efficiently produce 110 AC Volts @ 60 herts(VAC) ( many models also have 220 volt outputs) There is also a AVR, Automatic Voltage Regulator in the generator to help control the voltage. When you plug something into the power outlet socket of the generator it will obviously draw power, different appliances, lights, tools etc that you plug into the generator require the same voltage of 110 but will require different Amperage (Amps) Example: a power tools such as a circular saw will draw a higher amperage than a 40watt light bulb even though they both run at 110 volts, the circular saw will put a higher strain/load on the generator and want to slow down the engine r.p.m and thus this is where the GOVERNOR will automatically increase the power (throttle) of the engine to keep it running at 3500 r.p.m. So ,...whoever removed the carburetor along with the governor linkage that was connected to it you also remove the possibility to control the engine r.p.m at a constant 3500 r.p.m, and that will prevent the voltage outputs to stay at a constant 110 volts. They sell generator LP gas kits that you simply bolt on to the carburetor and come with a LP gas regulator, this way you keep the governor intact and you have a stable engine running @3500 r.p.m. also you will have the capability of running on either gasoline or LP (Liquid Propane) This method you show is not advised, it is dangerous and does not keep the engine running at a constant 3500 r.p.m for proper voltage depending on what is plugged into the generator. Oh, one last thing,,,, your set-up the way it is connected at the moment in this video to the main house natural gas line is 100% illegal in all 50 states !! there is a proper way to connect it to the main line, but not how it is in your video.
