If modern mmo grinding and eq farming is considered taking on 2nd job , then ragnarok online gave you the experience of a sweatshop worker , level 98 to 99 took several month and 1 mistake ( death) is enough to set you back weeks. Tho i really love how elements play huge part , like how archer with fire arrows do more damage to zombie or you can embued your sword with any elements ( sage skills)
Yeah man , I remember back then when whole our group in same Cyber Cafe, grinding at Pyramid Level 4, Level that time around 78~79..And Osiris spawn and wipe whole team . 1% exp loss is equal hours of grinding.
IRO alpha and beta 1 circa Dec. 2001 would take months to reach level 50. 1x/1x/1x rate later upp'd to 3x/3x/3x. Load times were terrible with 128 megabytes SDRAM would take 3-5 minutes to load one area. First class was end game build...swordsman, mage, acolyte, thief that was it.
When I first got into RO in highschool, I remember seeing a section on the website dedicated to the GMs having in-game interviews with players who got to 99. In my mind, back then, these people were famous. I distinctly remember a couple that was interviewed, a lv99 knight and his lv99 knight wife. One of them said it took 3 months to get to 99. I was dumbfounded, thought maybe they were exaggerating. Well a couple weeks later and my completely unplanned swordie with nearly random stats is slogging away in Geffen Dungeon killing stupid mushrooms and I was beginning to understand. I don't remember where I learned about private servers, but God bless whoever told me about them. qRO's 255 max level high rate server, I will always remember you. I know I spent hundreds of hours just sitting in the PvP arena chatting and waiting for the frequent barroom brawl to break out. A lot of people thought my lord knight was invincible because yggdrasil seeds had no animation when used, lol. The meta at that high a level was completely different than at 99. I got pretty good at timing berserk to reflect-suicide asura monks, until a couple of the smarter ones realized they could bait it out and wear me down.
Something that I feel Ragnarok online got right that you rarely see ever in an online RPG, is the idea of making so many overlapping stat breakpoints, skills, cards, buffs, and weapons that multiplied on each other to create situations where you could feel honestly "broken" in terms of power. And that there were so many ways to achieve that broken-ness with many different skills and classes, that in the end, all that power countered each other to create a sense of balance. The stat breakpoints pre-renewal helped a ton in that arena as well. Along with the permanence of builds, total freedom in stat allocation and the difficulty of maxing out your level. Sure, lots of people ended up with 99/99 builds, but even small variations could have big impacts with the right combinations of gear and support. In contrast, sometimes I try picking up a new MMORPG and every upgrade, stat boost, or skill point feels nearly inconsequential. And even the late game builds lack any sense of real power, permanence, or ownership. Just an amazing situation where metas could totally dominate right up until a counter was found, and then a counter to that, and on and on. So building a character with a perfect plan in mind was crazy compelling and addicting. Along with there being so many people to just party with and eventually make long term guildmates with.
You got point there bro. I also jump between other mmorpg, but it's really hard to find what ragnarok online has offer to player. Building character, skill, play style it just a amazed me how many build for 1 class can have and there are also counter for those build. So far I played a lot in Elder Scroll Online which is harder to understand compared to ragnarok but the build in game are very straight forward and simple. For Ragnarok it's just an art of building character differential for pvp, pvm, mvp and woe.
@@MZARGamingChannel89 Feel the need to reply as I'd be one of those that met my husband in Ragnarok Online. (He mob dropped an Ungoliant on me back in 2006 🤣.. wasn't a very romantic first meeting)
Seems like it was made completely by chat GPT. It's not something wrong tho, but there are 2 major mistakes i want to cover. Thief class can steal from monsters but not from players xD Second - Juno is not steampunk themed, there are no pipes, etc. ChatGPT was clearly wrong and described Einbroch/Einbech. Keep it up, i like the series, but if you've ever played ragnarok those 2 subjects should be clear to you, so just check the information.
yeah man I completely miss the part of thief and yuno. haha..worries not part 2 not coming from chat gpt and more on my personal experience and other's resources.
Hey nice vid. But something you got wrong and iirc, is that Tao Gunka didnt come out with Comodo but with Ayothaya episode, it was on Ayothaya dungeon but got replaced by Lady Tane and then was moved to Comodo.
Yeah the AI Voice mess it up haha.. I know it said woee, It support W.O.E or maybe full name much better War of Emperium. 2nd episode is coming ..stay tune..
PART 2 IS OUT NOW - ua-cam.com/video/UM9K5I0yInM/v-deo.html
