@@OnlyOneJess lol!! Well, we're happy to meet him!! 😅 And those of us with at least partial 4c hair would love to see you try more of your go-to products on his hair... If you're looking for any video ideas! 😁
As a 4c member, the white residue is usually do to our low porosity, so maybe a drier afterwards may help. If there’s still some left, it’s just too much product.
I have 4c hair and I usually still have product or "residue" still visible in my hair for several hours after the application of the product due to my hair's low porosity nature. I just leave it to dry in my bonnet over night, and even then it will take a few more hours to finish dying and for the product to absorb. Love the content btw! 😊
Hair “type” pattern isn’t the real issue u have low porosity hair trying rinsing (once a week) or washing hair at least every 1-2 weeks. Miele pomegranate line is a good. It’s good to use a blow dryer or hooded dryer until hair is 80% dry or fully dried. Use light oils like shea NUT oil. unless doing hibernating styles. Try to use moisturizing products and less protein conditioners and leave ins until the end of the month (deep conditioners) until you have at least learned how to add protein in your regimen.
Btw my hair stylist gave me this regimen but every wash (shampoo) visit we run the water on my for at least 8 mins then gently shampoo scalp then condition then for 3 mins we rinse out product and my 4b/4c coils clumps together with light raking under the water Then she adds leave in, gel, and a little oil at the end . And hair products she uses are from avlon and Kera care
I think this came out really good with the creme and the gel. As someone who has hair similar to him, I can say he may have low porosity hair so the products may not have fully penetrated the hair shaft. This doesn't mean he can't use these products at all but he may just need to use less and work it in more. Another tip is after styling to pat off some of the excess product with a microfiber towel. Also drying the hair with a hooded or blow dryer can help. I think going over it with a little oil after can help too.
Ah thank you for this!! Because he still has me doing his hair to this day and I’m still not sure of what I’m doing or if I’m doing it right lol thank you! :)

Definitely need to make sure you have your hair well moisturized to make them work. It will just look different for us 4Cs but it's still cute. Rock it girlie!!! 4Cs don't know the word "can't". 😉🤗
Fellow 4c-er here. We got excellent hair so what if we cannot rock the "wash-n-go", which really isn't a wash-n-go because of 1) the amount of product you have to put on the hair; 2) the length of time you have to wait for your hair to dry; 3) the amount of flakey product left on your hair when it finally dries🤓🙄
Yea from my personal 4c head experience you def need a cream and a gel. Also you get better clumping in our hair from a tool (comb/brush, etc) than shingling.
Dang, that sucks. I hate getting through the whole process only to have residue when it dries smdh. Im 4C and the best wash n go combo I have found for my hair is the Oyin Boing Coil Styler + Wetline Xtreme gel. Killer curl definition and no residue when it dries 👌🏾
@@isabellejoseph3387 What product did you use it with? Most gels you gotta get the combo right. When I used it with a differ moisturizer it flaked on me too!
The definition is lovely!! Thank you for showing it on 4c hair! 😊 I wonder how it would look like if a twist out was done using both the products or individually.. Lit 🔥 lol! Either way still bomb! Thanks again for the video! 👏🏾✨😊
My youngest daughter is 4c and I’m 4b/4c and let me just say, I’m here for the product! Definitely have to cream and gel, it’s a must for me and mine! Otherwise there is absolutely NO definition and plenty of frizz.
I'm not sure if he has had a protein treatment, but I'm 4C and my hair does not curl well if I haven't done a deep protein treatment. I have to use lots of leave-in conditioner, light oils and it has to be drenched in water. After adding the gel if curls are not coming out well I spray more water and seal it in with more oil. I only detangle during the conditioning process otherwise my hair poofs and does not curls. I also have to use the raking method excessively. And yes it takes a long time to dry depending on the gel, but it comes out beautifully once its completely air dried.
Jess I'm so happy for you! I remember the video you made in the past about how your Christian family and friends kept pressuring you because you were single and look now! He's cute too so that's bonus points for you. Yes big sis!
Hey Jess, I also have 4c hair and I never saw definition in my curls until I started using bentonite clay. I don’t do wash and go’s often, but if I’m going to, I always do the clay mask first because it saves me from having to use too much product to force my curls to pop. I know you just moved two hours away from him, but that could help for next time! Good luck with everything. And thanks for the video!
This video is so important because many of these products advertise "for all natural hair types" or "type 4" but never actually show the product on "all hair types". I like the result because I know what my 4c hair is supposed to behave like after years of disappointment (loll) but also really good results. But reality is a lot of people don't know what type 4 hair (especially 4c) hair looks like because we never see it. I won't buy this product based on the residue problem but I think without that issue, it worked really well on his texture.
I have 4c hair and I can't leave in a little leave in conditioner if im putting heavy products in my hair. Also I have to do the oil last. And use the tangle teaser to brush the hair after applying the product. It helps it shingle better. With 4c you have to shingle with smaller sections.
Sorry that this is an unrelated question, but who sings that "find you" remix in the video? I love that song! Also, with the drying time and all of that product, it appears that he might have low/lower than average porosity hair. Too much product won't penetrate the strands, it will just sit on top and build up. With lo-po, less is more and water-based is best.
Try the cream first then the oil the the gel for hold next time. The lanolin may have been prevent the hair from observing the cream. Lanolin oil uses Many products that contain lanolin oil also contain humectant ingredients like aloe, honey, or glycerin. Humectant ingredients actually pull moisture in from the air. Lanolin itself is not a humectant. It can trap water once skin and hair is moist, however. Lanolin is classified as an emollient and an occlusive moisturizer, which means it has the ability to slow water loss from the skin.
I think leaving some of the DC in and adding oil may have prevented the products from adhering to the hair properly thus still making the hair a look frizzy and not crazy defined
This may sound stupid, it may not...we'll see My (just barely shoulder length 4C) hair also tends to have product on it after a pretty long time and I believe that's because the hair is so dense and tightly coiled. Think about how much air can go through 4A/B curls compared to 4C
I’m here for the consistency! I have 4c hair as well! Thank you for the representation✨. I definitely need to pick that up and do a video to see my results ❤️😃
His hair looks so healthy. We really need to start taking hair tips from our men because they have such rich hair (whatever they are doing definitely works). 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you for this. The coils are definitely defined but yeah I can not do the chunks of white product build up for me or my daughter. I was holding on to hope for this product. Thank you for saving me the disappointment and coins!!
Wow I've been watching UA-cam tutorials for some years now and your bf is the first person I have seen that has hair just like mine. It just fluffs up instead of being really defined. Please update us with another tutorial if you find something that really defines his curls ❤
can you try again but without the lanolin underneath? it would probs perform better with WAY less product, just from the shower a leave in or weightless oil like jojoba, then the cream then the gel and use the lanolin to fluff and crunch? the oil is probs causing the excess product to make a filmy cast and goobers. thanks for the vid!!
You did a pretty good job, the product probably just didn't soak into his hair and flaked allloottt. I wanted to say this on your other video, but try using Jheri Curl Juice Curl Activator to see if it will help with the flaking and the softness/hardness of the curls after drying.
I'm 4b/4c and even my most perfect wash n go's have a little residue in them. Whether I go to the salon or do it at home, I get residue. So I've just learned to live with it/style it 😊
If I remember correctly from my breastfeeding days Lanolin (lan-o-lin) is pretty thick. Perhaps this would leave the white residue when not using heat to style. Thanks for doing the research for the 4c Community.

aw thank youuuuu!! haha, and alot of peoeple are saying not to be alarmed about the residue and that it takes a day sometimes 2. wish i would have known that before lol
It's less because 4c and more because low porosity. I'm not 4c and get the product residue. BUT I'm kinda learning that if my hair is properly moisturized prior to the style it won't happen as easily.
I havent done a wash n go in years but when I did I found that warm water allows the product to penetrate more. Also creme products dont work as well for a bomb wash n go. Try just warm water, oil and then gel for us 4C girls.

Wetline flaked the helllll out my hair
@@isabellejoseph3387 What product did you use it with? Most gels you gotta get the combo right. When I used it with a differ moisturizer it flaked on me too!
im gonna keep experimenting on his hair to find the best combo for him!
That 4C hair is a real test for any product!
The amount of length to shrinkage is ridiculous 🤩🤩🤩🤩Shrinkage plays too many games!
Yes big sis!
wow youre an OG!! lol thank you soooooo much
@@OnlyOneJess Of course ❤ love from Jamaica.
Wow, I'm so proud of Cocoblack & my country as a whole👍🏿💞
Hey Jess, I also have 4c hair and I never saw definition in my curls until I started using bentonite clay. I don’t do wash and go’s often, but if I’m going to, I always do the clay mask first because it saves me from having to use too much product to force my curls to pop. I know you just moved two hours away from him, but that could help for next time! Good luck with everything. And thanks for the video!
which brand?
@@bro-ss2eu The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay! The one that you mix on your own with apple cider vinegar.
I couldn't believe that I've been watching your videos for this long and I forgot to subscribe 🤦🏾😂 I love your content!
hahha well welcomeee officially to the squad
Me too😄
Bro I was here when you did a big chop and now look at your hair bro, shrinkage is real. Can’t wait for your straightening routine
He has some beautiful hair! And the way he smiled at the camera was hilarious lol
hahah thank youu
Aww Y'all mad cute. 😊
Thx for trying it on 4c hair.
thank you!! and you're welcome
I won't buy this product based on the residue problem but I think without that issue, it worked really well on his texture.
i AGREE completely with all you just said. i feel like 4c gets excluded a lot when products say for type 4 hair and its disappointing.
Lanolin oil uses
Many products that contain lanolin oil also contain humectant ingredients like aloe, honey, or glycerin.
Humectant ingredients actually pull moisture in from the air. Lanolin itself is not a humectant. It can trap water once skin and hair is moist, however.
Lanolin is classified as an emollient and an occlusive moisturizer, which means it has the ability to slow water loss from the skin.
Congrats on 400k Jess you deserve it girl
thank you soooo much!!
@@OnlyOneJess Your welcome 🙏
I think leaving some of the DC in and adding oil may have prevented the products from adhering to the hair properly thus still making the hair a look frizzy and not crazy defined
This may sound stupid, it may not...we'll see
My (just barely shoulder length 4C) hair also tends to have product on it after a pretty long time and I believe that's because the hair is so dense and tightly coiled. Think about how much air can go through 4A/B curls compared to 4C
Congratulations on 4k sis! And he's a cutie! Congrats there too❤
I feel an energy change in this video. From Normal to Hyper... Love it
i feel like it was the opposite lol i feel like i had energy toward the beginning then died toward the end lol
@@OnlyOneJess It did but I was talking about other videos. The energy in this video surpassed the others
@@plummer8747 ohhhh okay I got you lol
I’m here for the consistency!
I have 4c hair as well! Thank you for the representation✨.
I definitely need to pick that up and do a video to see my results ❤️😃
girl im trying out hereeee lollll you're welcome
I think it’s nice that he supports you in this way. Thanks for the video
he's a trooper lol thanks for watching!
Yes congratulations on 4k...keep it coming😍😍
thank youuu!!!
Thank you for using a true 4c model. This made a difference for me!
His hair looks so healthy. We really need to start taking hair tips from our men because they have such rich hair (whatever they are doing definitely works). 😍😍😍😍😍😍
They don't touch it often😭
Men tend to have more fatty oils in their hair as my aunt the hair dresser pointed out and they don't style as much as we do.
and its not fair because they really dont be doing NOTHINGGGGG lol
Here Jess 🤗
Congrats on 400k Hunnie! 💕 you deserve it 🥰
thank you so much!!
Jess!!! We appreciate you girl! Thank you!
aw thank YOUU!!
Look at how him play slick. Sneak his face inna the video.
You should definitely try this with other types of products. Make a mini series
okay!?? LOL and yea im gonna tryyy but since I just moved 2 hours away from him its def gonna be a challenge
@@OnlyOneJess Yes that will be a challenge.
The sneak peek we are here for. Yesssssse Jessss,
hahahahah yaaaasssssss
Lmbo at him smiling in the camera!! Ya'll are adorable and his hair texture is bomb 👌🏾
CAUSE PERIOD JESS HE CUTE!! Yes ma’am love that for you😌🥲
Try the deep hydration method on his hair please
It’s the fact that JESS kept his face in the video and I screamedddd😂😂love ittttt!!
So I've just learned to live with it/style it 😊
Him smiling 😂🤣 into the camera 📷 I love the way his hair turned out. I love that for you! Love you Jess❤️
lol thank youuuuu!!
Those little ringlets be CUTE - loved the end product!
If I remember correctly from my breastfeeding days Lanolin (lan-o-lin) is pretty thick. Perhaps this would leave the white residue when not using heat to style. Thanks for doing the research for the 4c Community.
He was like nope you not going to hide me today lol 😂 and then smiles into the camera saying “hello 😁”
lollll
Girl!! OMG y'all so cute! He's beautiful and you're beautiful! So precious! You did a great job on his hair. My hair will stay with white for a whole day sometimes. It ain't no thang! I totally busted out laughing when he smiled at the camera with that effect you put on the music! 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
aw thank youuuuu!! haha, and alot of peoeple are saying not to be alarmed about the residue and that it takes a day sometimes 2. wish i would have known that before lol
Those of us being nosy: 😔 okay well hi boyfriend.
lolll got a little peekaboo in there
It helps for 4c to reduce frizz, to add water between your products too, so before and after applying the Nappy curlz product
It's less because 4c and more because low porosity. I'm not 4c and get the product residue. BUT I'm kinda learning that if my hair is properly moisturized prior to the style it won't happen as easily.
Love the effect that those products gave his hair.
We early 😏💕love ya beautiful❤️( I know this is gonna be good!)
love youuu! =)
@@OnlyOneJess what’s your hair type I have the same exact hair type as u
He has a beautiful hair pattern! Loved the results!
thank youuu he truly does!
Thanks for showing the results on different hair texture. That was a good idea.
I havent done a wash n go in years but when I did I found that warm water allows the product to penetrate more. Also creme products dont work as well for a bomb wash n go. Try just warm water, oil and then gel for us 4C girls.
