And much like that movie, it was about Batman figuring out how to be both Batman and Bruce Wayne to benefit Gotham the most. But the way it goes about this is that it has Harvey Dent in the movie, trying his hardest to clean up crime through law enforcement. But of course there is lots of corruption in the Police and Government. Meanwhile Black Mask has done a lot to organize crime and is quickly taking territory from all the other gangs. It then would be revealed that Harvey Dent IS Black Mask, and its because the corruption in Gotham was so great that he believed the only way to bring peace was to bring balance. By controlling the Law and the criminals, he would be basically utilizing the corruption in the police force for good. He thought he could control both sides to make a stalemate and drive out the lawless gangs for his more controlled loyal ones. Something like that. But all that falls apart as not only does Batman discover this and has to struggle with how to deal with revealing this fact, but also the Joker's anarchist ways blow up Harvey's plans. Now, because Joker doesn't like people wearing their metaphorical masks, but instead being the true person they are after they have their one bad day. He then wants to know who the real Harvey really is: Harvey the keeper of the law, or Black Mask the crime lord. Because Harvey refuses to choose, or even claims Black Mask to be a fake identity, Joker would at one point kidnap Harvey and cut his mask in half and surgically weld one half over his face. Basically marking him as the two-faced liar he is. If he won't choose one or the other, he can be both, but now he can't lie about it. So that was my idea for how they could introduce Two-face in an interesting new way that feels accurate to the character. That said, I don't know how people would feel about that interpretation for Black Mask, since he is his own character with his own history. But I thought it was clever.
Not sure how many times I have rewatched S1 of Altered Carbon. Magnificent S2 I have sat through but am in no rush to go back to it Good to hear Penguin turned out well. Too few shows now that do
Sofia knows- or will find out- about his mother and 💀 her. And the act of harming a mentally incapacitated old woman is the one thing that's beyond the pale and acts as the villain origin for both.
If they are going to incorporate Batman into the show, I want them to make him into the horror movie monster that the thugs of Gotham think he is. Just get a scene of some of Penguin’s guys doing a job for him, all is going well until they hear a “tink” next to them. They slowly turn to find a batarang imbedded in the wall. They turn quickly and we get the iconic silhouette in the sky. The scene cuts to black and we hear the henchmen screaming in fear. Next scene is Penguin being informed that Batman f-ed up the plan and now Penguin has to brainstorm how to readjust the plan. THAT is how I want Batman in this show, an ever present threat that we only get small glimpses of but never know when or where he will appear.
Agatha has killed two of the characters already. It looked like a couple more were killed but it seems they come back in a later episode. I expect it will end with Tommy taking Agatha's powers and/or killing her. And Tommy's boyfriend will turn out to be his brother.
So glad to hear most have stopped watching Agatha. Critical Drinker says he does not want to give up time watching it. I do not want to give up any minutes of my life hearing them talk about it.
I also found episode 4 great, my only criticism is near the end, when she's in the present in her psychiatrist's office and blames him, she has this sentence about how men have harmed her all along, almost as if this allusion was mandatory is every female story nowadays, I mean the corrupted doctors in Arkham could as easily been women, the corrupted judge could have been a woman, etc. The problem here is corruption and abuse, not if the person is male/female
Christin Milioti deserves at the very least a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination if not downright win them both for her work on The Penguin. She's putting in an incredible performance as Sophia Falcone.
Everybody rightfully praises The Penguin but, strangely, when it to comes to excellent TV shows airing right now, nobody mentions The Old Man with Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow : it is a brilliant series that deserves to be talked about. The second season of Tulsa King is pretty good too.
It genuinely perplexes me that Kevin Feige looks at Aunt May & Agatha Harkness, who have both been depicted as old, grandmotherly women, for over 60 years, and says “you know what, let’s cast MILFs.”
The choices on who they decide to make a show on are odd. A lot of these should be secondary or tertiary characters in the main character shows, and that's it. But if Disney wants to waste money, I'm all for it. 😂
Brian Azzarello did an Joker comic years back that fits the narrative style quite well. Riddler is an arms dealer, Killer croc is a giant brute/thug with a skin disease rather than an actual reptilian monster. The characters are all grounded in reality. Even Joker himself is believable as a psychopath.
Not even worth laughing at is the perfect way to describe modern Marvel content. I hear that something new is coming from Marvel and I'm completely uninterested immediately. Not even worth my time 😢
Just to add my two cents to this conversation about what’s streaming; if just finished the first season of The Lincoln Lawyer and it was okay. It did its job, got me interested in the characters, had an okay story arc, built up some goodwill towards the series. Overall, I didn’t feel like I wasted my time watching it. First episode of the second seasons just shit the bed. The premise of the story arc is just so dumb, I couldn’t get past the first episode.
The Penguin shows exactly what has been wrong with the last few years of tv, it’s dark, both male and female characters are keeping you on the edge, you feel anything could happen next.
Disney/Marvel/ROP take notes, episode 4 of Penguin is how to make the audience sympathetic for a character. Sophia was a sweet young lady, and through horrible events beyond her control, she was turned into a monster, but we, as the audience, felt bad for her. A life of horrible deeds followed by an opportune change of mind to be good does not now make you a good person/character.
And Agatha All Along isn't doing the same? Disney/Marvel made Lilia so sympathetic in the latest episode with the growth she had go through with her powers and her eventual sacrifice. Agatha is also sympathetic with how she's treated as a monster that needs to be eradicated from birth by her mother. And the son sacrifice stuff is extremely intriguing.
I'd agree with the title to this video, except "MR. SHART" is legitimately one of the (unintentionally) funniest things I've seen in a while, so Agatha: Coven of Wine-y Karens All Along *may* have been worth it just for that ridiculousness. Okay, not really, but *I'm* not the one who put up a few hundred million for that monstrosity, so it's cool with me. 😆
The fictional tech to change face was used in Mission Impossible II and in Captain America Winter Soldier would suit Clayface :) I've been wanting Clayface to make his live action debut for a long long time.
Guess I'm one of those 10 (and everybody else I've heard from apart from this particular bubble). Apart from Deadpool and Wolverine Agatha has been the first good Marvel anything in years.
Gotta diverge here - The last three episodes of Agatha really delivered. It doesn't hold back. It wasn't perfect, yet, I am surprised that the drinker isn't interested in highlighting what it did differently from the recent, at times, drivel, from Marvel. The episode with the time witch, things being out of order, was really well done (Death's hand in Mine) deserved more credit that it is getting.
Mr. Freeze could work. Going with the whole tragic background element with his wife where he uses mostly his intellect to do his business behind the scenes. Having it where he is speaking from within a specially made freezer and if he does go out in his suit make it a more dark and imposing suit with a horror edge to it. Just push aside like his Ice Ray bit and focus far more on his scientific intellect.
A Batman themed crime drama is exactly what the franchise needed on TV and it's criminal the Nolan set that up in Batman begins only to never follow through in the sequels. I'm not holding my breath when it comes to an appearance from Professor Pyg but still, i need to watch this show and that is a rare and unfamiliar sensation nowadays
Could not be more wrong. It’s a good show, but that doesn’t fit your narrative. And yes Penguin also rocks. Both can be true of these very different shows.

The same IGN that gave Agatha All Along a glorifying 8/10? Yeah I know that liking art, films and shit is subjective but damn, that does not look genuine. I barely see any online chatter calling AAA any good or even a fun watch. YEESH
i think the show is eventually going to somewhat depict gothams descent into madness and penguin being the last “mobster” left. sofia being a “serial killer” + the batmobile in the movie being based on christine etc gives me hope they’ll lean into the untapped “horror/slasher” potential of batman. there are lovecraftian horrors you can tell with batman, and his relationship with joker is similar to freddy and jason. it doesnt have to be campy but serious horror
I know at one time Marvel could put their name to anything and it would seem to pay off, but it is baffling that they greenlit a series about a side character from another side series, and then didn't cancel it at some point when things started going downhill for the company.

Magnificent
S2 I have sat through but am in no rush to go back to it
Good to hear Penguin turned out well. Too few shows now that do
Colin Farrell's Bullseye was awesome and I'm prepared to die on this hill.
It’s over the top and that’s why I like it
One of the only good parts of that movie, along with Kingpin
I missed. Iiiiiii never misss.
Mare pay-nits.
Drinker i am thankful to you for inviting the DESPOT again . Cheers to you all guys
Clay face would just have to be a guy really good at disguising his face. Like those masks from mission impossible
100% Mark Strong.. so much better. He was definitely more believable as the head of a crime family.
Sofia in penguin making me act up, like god damn. she brought back my goth fetish
I've had a crush on her since I was a kid in the how I met your mother days.
Her and the Goth boy in Agatha All Along doing the same for me.

@@mack7170 was wild when i googled the actress and found out she's nearly 40. i thought she was in her 20's
@@ginjaedgy49 yeah she hasn't aged at all.
So glad to hear most have stopped watching Agatha. Critical Drinker says he does not want to give up time watching it. I do not want to give up any minutes of my life hearing them talk about it.
Except disparu because it's hilarious
@@mack7170so true
@@mack7170 Oh yea, been keeping up with him watching it. Great stuff.
I feel happy for you boys that you get to talk about shows that you genuinely like and are excited about! Keep up the great work!
Penguin is great. Great female actors. Great female showrunner. Great and diverse cast. The problem with Disneys shows was always quality
I’m worried Penguin might pull a bait and switch on us…
In what way?
They just talk all about Penguin which is great. Agatha all along isn't even worth talking about, let alone wasting time laughing on it.
Yeah me too really enjoying season 2 of the old man. Well acted with a decent story.
It genuinely perplexes me that Kevin Feige looks at Aunt May & Agatha Harkness, who have both been depicted as old, grandmotherly women, for over 60 years, and says “you know what, let’s cast MILFs.”
Well tbf it's more realistic, my aunt's only 11 years older than I am and ger brother, my dad is 25 years older than me.
Really in-depth discussion about Agatha guys...
The title kept me from this video for days. If inly I knew they were talking about Penguin.
The contrast is stark to say the least.
Not even worth laughing at is the perfect way to describe modern Marvel content. I hear that something new is coming from Marvel and I'm completely uninterested immediately. Not even worth my time 😢
Thats too bad, cause you dont need to laugh at it to have a good time. Agatha I thought was really good.
7:35 “Victor Freeze, Freeze Refrigeration.”
After 3 or 4 episodes i didnt want to waste my time with it
But will spend next few months hating on it for content
Good skills man
Didn't know this show even existed until you mentioned it.
The Penguin shows exactly what has been wrong with the last few years of tv, it’s dark, both male and female characters are keeping you on the edge, you feel anything could happen next.
Have to say Cristin Milioti has been outstanding. Best part of the series imo. She she be the blueprint for female leads
It’s nice to see something positive for once. It comes few and far between, but it’s nice when it’s there
When I first heard about Agatha all along, I thought it was going to be a fresh take on like an Agatha Christie(?) mystery show. Wish I'd been right.
The fictional tech to change face was used in Mission Impossible II and in Captain America Winter Soldier would suit Clayface :)
I've been wanting Clayface to make his live action debut for a long long time.
There are literally tens of people who will disagree with you
Great! Hope they end up consuming these woke products so that studios don't register any loses 🙂
Went right over your head didn't it
@@Holdenmagroin75 it did not over mine, this time ...
Guess I'm one of those 10 (and everybody else I've heard from apart from this particular bubble). Apart from Deadpool and Wolverine Agatha has been the first good Marvel anything in years.
Dozens even!
I love that penguin and Agatha are airing at the same time, shows you the 2 ends of the spectrum
4:49 _THANK YOU_
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Anthony Mackey didn't have the same punch as Joel Kinneman.
I miss your movie reactions. For good or bad, those were great!
My brother and his fiance watch Agatha. I cant understand why they do this to themselves.

It’s amazing how many live action Batman shows there have been, and the best one is about The Penguin
I even skipped EFAP's review of Agatha All Along.
You missed out on the adventures of Mr Shart?
@@harbl99 I have no idea if that is within Agatha All Along story or EFAP lore.
The Penguin is fantastic.
Could not be more wrong. It’s a good show, but that doesn’t fit your narrative. And yes Penguin also rocks. Both can be true of these very different shows.
Tbh, I think it's wrong to accuse someone of pushing a narrative just because They don't like a show, I liked Agatha and that's my opinion, these people didn't and that's their opinion, it's not serious
@ dude what his channel. He was never going to like Agatha even if it was good (which it is).
@@KD-fu8ob he did have some valid critiques in my opinion, which were mostly on the nature of the first trials and how basic They were, that I agree with, other than that I really liked the show and enjoyed it, especially episode 8
Power of The Penguin - you guys talk more about that while ostensibly discussing Agatha 😂
I always love when actor shows their ability to act like a different actor.
like Agatha's actor when she gets possessed? 💯💯
I’m not watching penguin because I full on expect they are still waiting to pull off ‘the switch’…when the series ends and the people who watched it say that it stayed good all the way to the end, then I’ll consider it.
The Penguin is really hitting on all cylinders.
I think Clayface can definitely be done in this universe.
I have even come up with some story beats on how to accomplish it.
He cant be the huge amorphas blob of clay that is a shape shifter. But his face can be changed, like an older school Clay Face. It would sort of be a mixture of all the major interpretations of Clay Face to keep it grounded but a smidge fantastical through hypothetical science.
I didn't even like The Batman, but The Penguin is written so well that it's been a pleasant surprise. Been a while since I looked forward to a new episode drop from a show
He’s a grand king pen!
… a grand pen king…
… a penking…
… a penguin…
(If this show had the same writers as the rings of power)
LOL. love the theory about the end of the show where the penguin dies... LOL.. that was funny.
Cristin Milioti is an amazing actress. 4:38 Mark Strong is also when of the greatest actors of our time, period.
The parents of the children in this show need to be charged with neglect
Mr. Freeze could be a serial killer that uses liquid nitrogen to leave frozen corpses.
The same IGN that gave Agatha All Along a glorifying 8/10? Yeah I know that liking art, films and shit is subjective but damn, that does not look genuine. I barely see any online chatter calling AAA any good or even a fun watch. YEESH
The actress from the penguin was very good in Fargo season 2 . First time I saw her in anything..back when I watched TV
i think the show is eventually going to somewhat depict gothams descent into madness and penguin being the last “mobster” left.
sofia being a “serial killer” + the batmobile in the movie being based on christine etc gives me hope they’ll lean into the untapped “horror/slasher” potential of batman. there are lovecraftian horrors you can tell with batman, and his relationship with joker is similar to freddy and jason. it doesnt have to be campy but serious horror
I know at one time Marvel could put their name to anything and it would seem to pay off, but it is baffling that they greenlit a series about a side character from another side series, and then didn't cancel it at some point when things started going downhill for the company.
Love the videos! Not going to watch because I don’t even want to see a second of a clip from Agatha 🤢
That character grinded my gears in that Wanda show thing.
[Random note]: Mark Strong voices Ultramarine Captain Titus in the original/first 'Spacemarine' game.
He was so excellent for that role, and I know I'll miss him when I play 'Spacemarine 2.'
I watched the first episode on Agatha. I saw enough to know I wasn't going to watch more.
Oh, it's definitely worth laughing at as long as you laugh at the people excited to watch new episodes. Yes, there are people out there who will probably cry when this show gets cancelled.
Can't see Vic loosing all his hair including eyebrowse. And becoming a crazy sharpshooting madman. Whenever they bring in Zaz the criminal bosses get scared, because he can't be controled and has different motivations to them. With Zaz you get extra, not just what you ask him to do.
If they don’t have an appearance of the Condiment King in this Batman universe, I’ll feel cheated. 😂
This is the Andor of the DC. Both have been simply amazing, but previously thought as a weird unnecessary spin-off. This is incredible storytelling! Acolyte can piss off.
Thats pretty cool, need to try this.
