Every album since Palaces has had some of the hardest bass lines to learn. I don't now if any other metal bands have a more important bass player than John Campbell is for Lamb Of God.
just FYI, you add distortion to bass (in many recordings not along metal) to fatten the signal up, and to tighten it into the mix so that is doesnt sound as out of place from the guitars. This advice has been given to me from industry experts by the way. I havent yet tried it, but I'm just saying this to try and add a different perspective to the conversation/discussion
I really agree. Not any bass at all. First of all, you can easily hear it. And then (if you have one) feel your subwoofer. It's not even moving. Means it's 100 hz + which is not considered bass.
his tone is pretty crappy throughout the album cuz all he does is follow the guitars and you can't hear him under the guitars unless you add distortion which sounds like crap for basses except for Meshuggah.
4:10 My favourite bass guitar moment of all time. Absolutely electric..
Absolutely EPIC and just OOZING fiery intensity; John Campbell is an absolute BEAST of a bassist!!
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻🔥🔥

John Campbell is the biggest reason Lamb of God is my favorite band
Im a guitarist but playing the bass is more kickass any day....Bass guitars are so mystical and darkly powerful...Like Darth Vader....
The fill at 1:45 is incredible. And I'll toss in with the rest of the ending riff lovers.
1:45
I don't listen to Dream Theater but i saw this vid on facebook and their bassist was shredding like crazy. With fingers too.
damn he is one hell of a bass player!!!!!!!
Absolutely!! Right up there with Lemmy Kilmister, Geddy Lee, and Cliff Burton!!
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻⚡️⚡️
holy shit, the bass is actually really different from the guitar part

Man! John Campbell is an AWESOME bass player!! He really gives that little extra to Lamb of God! John for the win! \m/
Fucking love lamb of god man. They kick so much ass, they are pissing in the mainstream as we speak.
this is the bass tone i end up with when I'm having trouble dialing in a new tone 🤣
@DLI848 you reckon? I found the bass on this album exceptionally easy to pick out, especially compared to their earlier stuff.
John campbell him self said in an intervju that he feels alot better on bass thats why you can here the bass more and more on each album=)
@SlIpKnOtCZW He has a Signature Jackson now, and he plays through a MESA Big Block 750. *with some kind of MESA cabinet.
Can you upload the guitar only of In your words?
Life would be better with the bass turned up
d'you think? I find him quite easy to pick out, especially on wrath. The only album I found him hard to hear on was sacrament.

obviously hes easy to hear on the isolated bass tracks, but I mean the actual mix of the album.
i found him easiest to hear on sacrament, really hard on ATPB
hes just got such a siiiiiiiick sound! and his accuracy and picking is shithot!
is there anyone other than JC who can play this
How the fuck did you do this? It's excellent! How did you recorded it? Did you use two sounds, one clean and one distorted?
I can!
ME!
he's 36
I actually thought Ashes had the best bass sound.
