This is an awesome bass track...Perfectly executed. Follows the guitars when he needs to, but also branches out to support the music and give it a little something extra. This is how metal bass is dome, ladies and gents.
Wow that didn't age well 🥺 I'm so gutted as much as I love 'deth I'll probably never see them live again. I can die happy knowing I saw them in 99 at their best.
This is a Professional Bass Player, you can tell this guy knows his stuff, Skills pays the bills. Even if you didn't know anything about music you would know after hearing this Bass Player that he most likely made a lot of money in the music field industry, after one Bass Playing Audition, Congratulations You got the Job!
whoa whoa lets not be judgemental cause there are PLENTY of pick players that don't just follow what the guitar plays, dave here is a perfect example! Just because people play with a pick doesn't mean they're bad. There are plenty of bad finger players out there.

totally agree, also its awesome we can have totally different sounds either using pick or finger depending what we are looking in the sound. Both are totally valid
It's amazing ppl still argue over picking or not. I mean it's seriously amazing that some so called musicians still don't see that a pick gives a particular sound that fits perfectly for certain songs and styles. You use both for guitar as well. Ppl are just self absorbed assholes. The huge majority of us musicians don't hardly even bring it up anymore unless is just saying hey that sounds better with a pick, or fingers. Hopefully the rest of you catch up and also stop comparing players to each other. Your ruining what musics all about. Your also side busting all these pros when they all respect each other and likely also wish everyone would bond together rather than argue.
The only thing that makes a style "superior"/"inferior" is the tone it produces. It's "superiority"/"inferiority" is purely opinion. People think it's cheating to use a pick when playing bass but that's complete nonsense. How do you cheat playing an instrument? Is it a test of some sort?
+Matt Bowen yeah these ppl are out of touch. a pick sounds frickin awesome in the right music. they just dont get it, or they are just copying what others say.
For real? Man I was expecting Lomenzo to be in for a few more albums at least. I'm not the biggest Megadeth fan there is, but Ellefson is more suited to the band than James, so it's nice to hear he's back.
@MajorImpact Chris Broderick spoke about this in an interview. He said Mustaine does at least 90% of the writing, Broderick said he respects that and that every established musician knows what the other instruments should be doing when he comes up with something. + If you look at the back of megadeth cd's it usually says who did the writing and the producing.Say on "rust in peace" Ellefson helped with lucretia, tornado of souls and dawn patrol. All others were singlehandedly written by Mustaine
@ColtinNotChicken Chris is not a robot, he's a human being. He likes to super shred, that';s what he is feeling, that's his style. Dude Mustaine didn't want Jimmy back because they weren't getting along anymore, plus we would of never got Headcrusher. I don't know at first I was like oh man I wan't Marty but back or Glen but then I said fuck it I'm stuck in the past I'll just appreciate Megadeth whoever they have. I like Chris style.
I used to think like that, then I discovered players like Steve DiGiorgio and Sean Malone. I still respect David Ellefson like I did before tho, and he's a great player, but some bassists are just even MORE epic.
@AngelicStorm1 well it's not Mustaine's fault in that matter, Jr left on his own because he wanted a bigger share of the money the band made Dave declined, it resulted in a lawsuit and Mustaine won :s.
Everyone should agree that Friedman was the best guitarist that Megadeth has ever had. Broderick comes close in second tho, I can agree with that. Same with Menza and Drover. Shawn kicks major ass as a lefty, and he can do the drumlines perfectly, but the one thing he lacks is Menza's intensity behind the kit. I am in no way trashing either Broderick or Drover. Theyre the second best pairing (coming very close), but Friedman/Menza I dont think can be beaten
@DETHFAN18ALL Dude me too I love Friedman and Menza but Broderick and Drover are right for Megadeth. Menza is still doing drugs while Mustaine and Ellefson are clean, we can't mess that up. I doubt Menza and Friedman keep in touch.
@MegaLDeth i disagree but i can understand your opinion.. from my standpoint i wouldnt put this song as one of daves shining moments it is very simple but sounds awesome... cliffs bass parts are much harder
@MetalOliver thats why i said i like his solos more and also at the time (1986) burtons bass lines were a little superior even though ellefsons were great
@ColtinNotChicken What do you mean that Chris is better than all his successors? Do you mean predecessors? I completely disagree with you. Chris Poland was by far the best Megadeth guitarist. I used to think that Marty was the best, and yeah he is amazing, but nobody can touch Chris Poland's style. It's streamlined and unique, just like Dave Mustaine's rhythm. I like Broderick, but I don't think he fits in with Megadeth although he covers Marty's solos almost perfect. Poland is the man though.
@MegaLDeth personally? i disagree i would say that cliff honestly better his solos are awesome, dont get me wrong david ellefson is fucking awesome, like in take no prisoners is fucking great. oh well its just opinions
it's an imperative: wake up, you dead fuck. the doctrine in which Mustaine was baptized considers you dead. you are dead. in spirit. and so Mustaine who is the incarnation of Apollo - god of arts, thus the creator, liberates you with his music. Diana is the twin god of Apollo, the other, other lover.
This is probably one of the best bass tracks ever recorded
Bro if you think this is good, listen to the isolated Holy Wars bass track. Absolutely top tier playing on that one
This is an awesome bass track...Perfectly executed. Follows the guitars when he needs to, but also branches out to support the music and give it a little something extra. This is how metal bass is dome, ladies and gents.
Absolutely
2:47 soooo groove ^^
That little funky bit at 2:59 is awesome, never noticed that before.
2:59
yeaaaaa, ellefson is back in DETH. just heard 30 minutes ago. =DDD
Cool

im a bass plucker
but dave, a picker, is my biggest influence!

Thinks its cool that they got a little jazzy thanks to gar n chris makes for excellent music

Am i the only one who hates the "new" bass sound Dave Mustaine gave it when he remixed it?
I think it's ok. It has more bass and treble so it sounds more modern but it has less mids so it sounds less like the original
I hate every single remaster, orignal albums will always be the best
@@ahmedbouhlel3382 KIMB's remaster is the only good one
@@cadencooper1828 youthanasia does not sound that bad either
Love this song!Fun to play as well
WELCOME BACK DAVE ELFSON
HELL YEAH HE IS BACK
but you have got to admit james lomenzo was a badass bassist too!!
lmao
well...
lol
But nut for long
Look like pretty complex bass line, the song and bass progress very beautifully.
Wow just an elite bass player

I think it's best to learn both, I like playing Megadeth with a pick but Iron Maiden stuff with my nails *^^*
jdssurf I think Ellefson is the only guy where the pick doesnt sound lacking. Fingers just usually gives a way fatter sound.
Max Durk I find with a pick I get more treble but just as much bass is still there.
if you listen REALLY carefully at 1:00 or so, u can hear him hum or something during those short breaks.. and the metronome aswell.
god i love that intro
now that kids is how bass should be played!! =)
@lalbruiz Your very welcome. I was also trying to analyse the bass tracks of this album as well so im glad i came across them
que gran track!
me fue de gran ayuda
muchas gracias, le doy manita arriba.
Great upload, thank you very much!!
Another great example of an inventive pick player is Chris Squire. Yet another is Paul McCartney!
For real? Man I was expecting Lomenzo to be in for a few more albums at least. I'm not the biggest Megadeth fan there is, but Ellefson is more suited to the band than James, so it's nice to hear he's back.

@AngelicStorm1 and now Ellefson is back in Megadeth, fuck yes.
@ColtinNotChicken Don't you understand, Shawn wrote half of Headcrusher, we would of had no Headcrusher if Shawn never joined.
agree with that 100%
@AngelicStorm1
Dave Mustaine said he does all the writing for megadeth. That includes the drum and bass lines.
I used to think like that, then I discovered players like Steve DiGiorgio and Sean Malone.
I still respect David Ellefson like I did before tho, and he's a great player, but some bassists are just even MORE epic.
Very Duff Mckagan like tone on this record.
palm muting aye we?
@AngelicStorm1 thank god dave is back in Megadeth now
@alternativejoe I wish i could man, but the master tracks aren't out yet. Im dying to find the bass and drums from the album
@popeluigi
you didn't even mention Chris Poland wth??
@BaSs4cE11 Is their a Take no Prisoners bass track :D
Can you please do this with any King Diamond material?

Anyone have accurate bass tabs for 2:44? I tried to listen it out but im having a hard time.
You can try watching my video. I found no accurate tabs but I learned that section from a guitar player doing a lesson on it.

i agree to that
@lalbruiz It's pretty much exactly Mustaine's guitar rhythm except it's on a bass, it's not like he came up with all this...
hmm, not sure if thats possible, depends on what songs are on rock band, but i dont rip them, i just found them on the net...
@icee562 people rip them from guitar hero and rock band, and upload them. I search on google and find some of em :)
@RediForKing what about Marty?
@DETHFAN18ALL Dude me too I love Friedman and Menza but Broderick and Drover are right for Megadeth. Menza is still doing drugs while Mustaine and Ellefson are clean, we can't mess that up. I doubt Menza and Friedman keep in touch.
@Nouk315 why would you even watch a megadeth video if you don't like them?
@JohnBlack64 if you judge a basist on his abilities to do a solo you clearly have no idea what being a basist is about.
Now they only need Menza back and Megadeth would be perfect again!
What don't you like about King Diamond?
usa algún pedal en este álbum?
sk8juan 2 el dice que no usa ningun pedal si le subis el treble a tu ampli y tocas con pua te acercas bastante a este tono
Well, thanks, anyway!
Pick sound more percusive than fingers
Wow I have been playing the intro completely wrong this entire time! XD
D, D flat, B, F sharp on D string then back to A string C, B, A to next groove on Second Fret E. That what you come up with?
Sanitys Void I don’t think he remembers 7 years later.....he commented this when I got my first guitar haha

10 years ago but still see this myth going around so I'm curious to hear what songs that's present in lol
They're from Rock Band.
@ColtinNotChicken
Nah, he just soloed.
@iTzDANiiEL Shawn Drover imo is more talented, but I prefer the sound of Gar's drumkit.
