Brilliant vlog Paul, great to see wingman and yourself out conger fishing, well done on catching the eel and it was a nice fish, love the blue edgeing on the fins,I wouldn't worry about the critics' what do they know, looking forward to seeing your next vlog and hopefully it's wingman's turn next time out conger fishing, tight lines chap's 👊🏼👍🏼🎣
Lovely Eel Paul 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 hopefully find one for either me or my brother in the next couple of weeks while we’re down 🤞🏻🤞🏻 keep the videos coming!!! Glad to see wingman is back upto full fitness
We use 40lb main line as there is the potential for a 40 lb eel or bigger to take the bait where we fish Plus it helps protect eny abrasion . 20lb main line would not cut it 🤓 for use on where we fish tight lines 👍
EXACTLY 👍 I’m all for fishing light EXEPT CONGERS! I would never advise 20 mainline on rough ground if your serious about catching big eels THE END Comment removed and future comments bye 👋
Great stuff boys...Had to comment straight away ,after you mentioned the 20lb and shock leader malarkey...As an example, I hooked an eel at Dawlish a couple of months back ,and I wasn't actually fishing for them...I was on 23lb main to a 50lb shock ...The eel I hooked was probably only 6 to 8 lb and I certainly knew all about that indeed ...I lost the fish , not due to snap off or lost rig etc . But I fully agree with you Bassman..There's no room for mucking around if you want big eels...I knew instantly that I will have to up my line and tackle to even stand a chance of landing a decent fish ...so we'll done for standing your ground ...I am actually looking for a decent reel and Rod as we speak ,as I am now hooked on trying for a nice eel... Keep up the great work ,and thanks for telling us beginners how to go about the job properly... Ps...That whiting = Dinner 😂😂😂
Apologies for being blunt with my comment yesterday. But when you've got 2 very good anglers, getting knocked for being very good and gracious at what they do is totally unfair, keep em coming Paul and Brett top vids everytime without question. Tight lines brothers 🎣👍😜
Great video as always normally skate fishing as I live in the highlands but down in Devon for a bit so beesands and Chesil this week keep up the good work!
Hat off to you guys, screw the nobs with the negative comments, you can't put more effort into what you do, and as always very professional, be lucky 🎣👍
i reckon the eel was blinded by the bright lights and was probably a little disorientated after being in the darkness. Nice catch though, head like a dog 👌
Devon rules for Devon, mate. I fish 25 main to 80 leaders. Need more of a cast to get to the deeper water round my way. I've landed plenty to over 30 over rough ground.
Yes mate I get it, just making a point lol as he was so nice and aggressive 😊 He called me out got a good bite We use 30 for hussing 40 for eels standard but lobbing big baits, guess who I was schooled by, the Eel master and current shore record holder Peace ✌️ it’s only fishing 😊👍 Where I was fishing here was the same you needed a good cast to get over the drop off so next time may change to a short heavy pulley and trim the baits down as reasonabley cleanish
Check out my rig shop here guys and girls thanks for supporting 💚fishingguidesdevon.co.uk/shop
Fantastic. Great to see you working hard and being rightfully rewarded. Well done guys. 80lb all the way…☺️👍👍👍

Another great video mate, met you on mt Batten last year and helped handling my first decant eel, since then I’m addicted them !
Great to hear! 😊💪
Thanks for the vid Bassman🎣
Cheers 🍻 💪
Maybe try a beefed up version of the paperclip rig which is used to stop deep hooking Flounder?
Good idea maybe the dongle
@@bassmansbountyfishing I've never fell down that dongle route but each to their own mate.
Ik you said about stretch but give some whiplash 8 braid a go rediculous low diameter for the strength
Problem is braid and rocks reef don’t mix bro 👊
@ yeah I got you bro when I do rough ground fishing with braid I make my shock longer to act as a rubbing leader but everyone has the preferences 👍
Hat off to you guys, screw the nobs with the negative comments, you can't put more effort into what you do, and as always very professional, be lucky 🎣👍

Excellent result!
