    As a former USPS worker, I suggest that you put the "throw away" portion of the shipping label inside the plastic bag. It doesn't happen very often, but if a package gets busted open and the the original shipping information can't be found, the item can't make it to its final destination.

    Instead of preparing the shipment your way I prefer to tape the shipping label on the package first with these kind of items; meaning bulky or an odd shaped item. This ensures that the label is flat against the envelope and will likely scan better. I noticed that, on the first item, the tape at the bottom of the label was not even touching the envelope completely. I'd be willing to bet that cheap tape fell off in shipment. But I hope not.
    Thanks for the vids!

    Thank you. I started with even less than $20 from my own closet. It’s been one month and I have netted $90. I purchased a scale and poly mailers from my earnings. Plus, eBay increased my item listings!

    Love this video! You are a flipping superstar. I have a tip for you. I use UPS label bags - that are free. I have a UPS account that I use only when a customer requests it but you do not need an account to order supplies- they will send to you for free! I use them to slide my eBay labels into. I cut the top down depending on the size of my padded envelope. They stay pretty secure in there. They are self adhesive - so much better than taping labels to the envelopes. Also USPS is able to scan the barcode perfectly fine. Win Win.

    As far as the Post Office scanning or not scanning the packages in front of you. Just put them in a good position to work with you. If you have a bunch of packages to ship, they will most likely not be motivated to scan them on the spot due to time. I suggest printing out the bulk scan sheet and presenting that. That way its just 1 scan and ALL the packages are in the system.

    These label bags are actually provided for international priority labels for packages 4 lbs and over. Also I wondered why you didn't use the bulk shipping tool? I have always covered the label never had any trouble. Ebay actually checks the progress of the tracking three times so even if your post office doesn't scan it it will not count against you as long as it arrives in the estimated time.
    Thanks for providing these videos. Even for an old timer like myself I use them as a check list. Never too old to learn.

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому

      Hey! Thanks for your comments. I actually don't use the bulk shipping tool because I like to be in more control of the individual labels (I have some reseller friends who have mistakenly sent items to the wrong buyer using the tool and so I have become overly cautious). If you can use the tool effectively, then that is great! (And can save time.)
      As for the 'ding' on eBay you get for not having your item scanned in on time, you can see this when you look at your "Seller Level" and see your 'Tracking uploaded on time and validated'. You are right that if the package arrives on time, your 'Late shipment rate' won't be effected, but this tracking number can be.

    anything below 13oz can be shipped first class in the US. Not 16oz.anthing above 13 oz will have to go priority or ground, which usually cost more. The post office does give out free shipping materials but it only for priority boxes and labels. Just a couple of things to add to this very helpful video you've put together. thanks.

    How do we deal with people wanting to purchase multiple items if we have a set shipping cost? Do we have to calculate it separately? I know as a buyer I am often tempted to buy more than one item to get the best value for shipping costs but I don't want to catch myself out as a seller? Can you offer how to deal with that issue? All of your videos were extremely detailed and professionally done I have even learned stuff I'm not a big eBay seller so I thank you but I do have to mention that in this video the last one you did make a mistake and the mistake you made was quite big so I have to comment on it here your available money is not the 50+ dollars you commented on your profit which is very good by the way is $33.18 you forgot to mention the eBay fee and the PayPal fee so I figured I would mention it here but thank you for the videos they were fantastic

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому +1

      You are right about the eBay fees. The PayPal fees are taken out automatically by PayPal, so that's already accounted for. As for the eBay fees, I will be going through payment in my next video. Checking my invoice, I owe $6.30 currently. So when I said I made 'not quite $50' this is pretty accurate -- I'm at $44.79. Thanks for checking in.

    PS: do you know how to tell the age of a coat like this?

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому

      Yay! That sounds like a great find with the Long Fog coat. If you want to research the date for this item, I suggest looking through the company's history (www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/london-fog-industries-inc-history/) and also googling the style of the tag -- oftentimes clothing companies will change up the labels on the inside of their coats and you can estimate an age based on this. Good luck!

    This was such a great video series! I don't know anything about reselling and this definitely taught me alot! I have a question, the numbers in your PayPal didn't quite match the amount of the sold items + shipping exactly. They're sort of odd numbers. What is the reason for that? Are there additional fees and/or discounts applied at some point from either Ebay or PayPal to change those amounts?

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому

      The reason for this is that PayPal takes their fees from the money coming in, so that's why you see odd 'totals'.

    Once again very informative presentation! I have a couple of questions on shipping ... Is there a more cost-effective way to print labels ? It seems like there is a lot of waste of ink and paper... if you order pick up by your mail carrier will they scan the packages at your doorstep? Thanks

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому +1

      There is a better way to print -- you can get a Dymo 4XL thermal printer. Since it is thermal, you don't use ink and there is no excessive paper/labels since it prints the exact size to ship. The only downside -- the printer costs $180 -- yikes!
      Also, with the postal carrier scanning -- I have heard that some do and some don't. I think it depends on your area.

    • @stephaniefoster2899
      @stephaniefoster2899 7 років тому

      I used to work for the USPS, and scanning at the customer's door depends on the current policy. The entire time I worked there (March 2016-March 2017), we were told we HAD to scan parcel pickups at the door. However, just one month prior, all carriers were told NOT to scan parcels and that they would get scanned by a clerk at the office. Either way, the parcels get scanned at least once before they leave your local facility and get sent to the district distribution center.

    I am a new seller on ebay. I have watched all 6 of your video's. First I want to say thank you for all of your valuable info. Next I am struggling selling anything. I have list 10 items 8 are buy it now or best offer. I listed 2 as buy it now only. I charge 2.99 for shipping. I have not sold anything. Can you please HELP???? Your info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

      First, you have to give it some time. I realize it can be frustrating, but in the end it will be worth it. Second, I suggest you go back and look at your prices -- oftentimes something won't sell if it is priced too high (people might not even be comfortable with making an offer if they feel the price is high). Next, keywords are king. Go back and make sure you have utilized every last space. And finally, what are your selling limits? If you can post more items, I suggest that you do. This significantly increases your odds of selling.

    Hello! This might be a silly question, but how do you print labels on sticker labels without wasting the other side of the label with the information on it instead of using it for another label to ship?

    • @RunwayMUA

      I actually waste the other side of the label -- which made me unhappy. I just invested in a Dymo label maker to cut down on waste.

      Which I understand here is option when you print from ebay click on Printer and label receipt preferences, and uncheck number 2 in Label printing preference.

    So does the USPS have a drop off place for packages that already have postage?

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому +2

      It depends on your post office. The one closest to me doesn't (I stand in line with everyone else). But there is one a few miles away which I go to when I'm running late (it is open until 6:30) and they have a space to drop off packages that have postage.

      You can check eBay fees here: pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html
      Just a quick rundown - there are 'insertion fees' on eBay for 30 cents per item (after 50 listings for free), plus the final value fee which is 10% of the total amount of the sale, plus Paypal fee of 2.9% of the transaction plus 30 cents per item.
      Just for the sake of keeping it easy, I round up to say that fees are about 15% of my total sale prices (including anything I charge for shipping).

      Rena Coachman Yes that's just fine. You can run your whole account like this. To print shipping labels you can go to Staples or a library, log into your account. Also if the printer you are "borrowing" has WiFi there is a way to send the label from your iPad to the printer.
