@@pauleng883 by plunger, do you mean the metal gauze filter at the bottom? If so, just drop that filter in the correct way up and use a clean poking device to ensure it seats correctly in the bottom of the socket. Once seated, the SCV screws down and mates with it.
I have the same model, not had that exact issue, however my fuel cap wasn't sealing. It was causing so many problems. Swapped it after troubleshooting and haven't had issues since.
That's interesting! I didn't think the fuel cap was supposed to fully seal? Otherwise that would create a negative back pressure where diesel could be pulled back down into the tank when the car sits for a period of time, potentially making it harder to start? It's because of this reason I keep my fuel cap slightly loose and also installed a non return valve between the fuel filter and the injector pump (to keep the pump primed at all times).
Those symptoms could also be blocked intake from EGR gunk or other blockage. Take your top mount intercooler off (or crossover pipe) and look down the throttle body with a torch. You'll soon know.
My 1kz consumes fairly on highway, around 8 km per litre but then consumes a lot of diesel in the city and when Idling 5km per litre . How can you help?
Yes, partly. I mean, it's worth a shot! But two things to consider... 1) with SCV removed, you can then access and clean the stainless steel filters underneath the SCV (which could actually be the problem in your case) and 2) the other thing is the pins are quite close together in a tight space. You would want to be careful not to accidentally arc the positive and negative wires from the battery together in the process! I just found it's much easier to do the job on the bench where you have better control and can inspect and clean the filters thoroughly while you're at it. It's not really that difficult to be honest. And the adjustable spanner I bought for the removal task, I use extensively in place of spanners. It's a brilliant tool, so the money is well spent!
@@1samwhich yeah the thorough cleaning was my only consideration. I've just noticed it cranks a little longer then usual at the moment to start, still fires up after 4-5 seconds of cranking, but not that clean crisp start it use to where it would fire after 2 revolutions. I've got some shitty Goss Injectors in it that I think may also be contributing to the issue as they apparently fall out of spec quite easily, so I will swap these out with decent rebuilt injectors and see how that goes. But the pump is original and has nearly 300,000kms on it, so I'm thinking this couldn't hurt.
*Note: The rough idle + white/grey smoke problem I was troubleshooting turned out to be a knackered MAP sensor.
Thanks mate this was a huge help for me much appreciated
You're welcome. 👍
@@1samwhichhello. How do i fit my spill valve back down into the pump without the plunger wanting to fall out?

Ya on it mate..one way valve is a good idea..think my spill valve is stuck ATM..won't rev up and blowing heaps of smoke

Any reason not to juice the solenoid while it’s still installed?
Nope, you could easily do that. It might have been a combination of things that fixed mine so that's why I included the full process. See how ya go!
In theory couldnt you just do this with it in situ on the pump and save the removal?

Sorry mate what year is the prado
2000. Should work with 97 as well
Their are about 3 variations of the 1KZ injector pump. If yours isn't the same as mine, you could have a mechanical pump?
Myn from the top on that wt can i do
Good job
