I had a 2016 BMW 125d with a 2 litre bi-turbo engine and stage 1 made 284ps 610nm. stock was 224ps and 450nm was a rapid little car especially with little weight of the 1 series

We had a company director leave his in the south of france after he resigned and just posted the keys back to work so I flew out and drove it back! Absolutely amazing car! Loved every second in it! Was sad to hand it back.
This is a great engine, intake pressure drop is really impressive. Lots of back pressure from the SCR system and back boxes though - lots of potential to drop the EGT with an exhaust!. If you ran the engine on a slower curve on your dyno you'd find the egt's even stock hit 830! BMW B47 25d engines had 2500bar in 2015 also! But only got to 230hp (in the X3/5 etc) and used a CP4.1 - for big power makes it more of a pain as retrofitting of a rail and cp4.2 required! BMW also had twin VNT where I think the passat was only single VNT.

And then look up how much NOX is allowed in work spaces like offices, workshops, or even restaurants and such. And then you ask yourself how in the f can they justify such emissions standards?!?!?! Oh I just remembered, a german court just ruled the "Thermofenster" as illegal. I don't know the english term for it. Pure insanity and the end of cars.
Watch the S4 video, how much it is pushed from factory. I don't see how these S4/S6, and other VAG cars with this engine, will last past 60.000 miles. Just unbelievable.

As a b7 Passat owner... With the poor little 1.6tdi engine... This was REALLY cool to watch. I've been thinking about a b8 BiTdi or GTE next time potentially. I've heard however that the BiTdi engine is reeeeeeally complicated and tends to cost more on maintenance and repairs.. looks fucking mint though

I am looking for a review of the newer passat with this engine, but its on the very top of my list when a good, low miles one comes along, in DSG of course.

I thought it would be more similar (apart from 1 more turbo) given than the power figures between the TDI 190 + remap are not that far from the stock biturbo but it looks like a much more complex engine. TBH I don't know why they went all that way and if maybe they could have achieve something similar in terms of performance with just a one bigger hybrid turbo?

However will this cause it to fail the emissions test when MOT? I know visually, removing it would cause it to fail. Also will removing it cause any issues electronically? I’ve been watching a few of your CUAA engine videos, how are these engines holding up after a few years and KM’s? We have the choice between the 140kw single turbo and this engine here in NZ in the Passat Alltrack and Tiguan (as well as the 162kw tsi), I was quite impressed by the biturbo when I tested it the other day.
I’ve been looking for an English language video of a tune on this engine - specifically I have the Kodiaq RS, BiTdi - I assume this is the exact same engine. Having the extended 7yr manufacturers warranty the inner turmoil on tune or not is high! One question I have is that from standstill this engine / gearbox seems to have a lag off the mark, that moment you want to get on to a roundabout in a break if traffic. Even in sport it’s just significant enough to be annoying. I think it’s the time delay element on the throttle map for emissions reasons but I’m not sure. Right or wrong I added a pedal box and it’s solved the issue to a degree. Would a remap sort it out properly? Do you agree there is an inherent lag from stock?
Cracking video. I have a bitdi and have toyed with a remap, mainly for a bit more punch overtaking, but there doesn't seem to be much out there. Clearly there is though. I assume you left the gearbox as standard? As I wondered whether that would need to be mapped with the engine also?
Autofrettaging is what we used on all the piping when we were developing EUP systems about 15 years ago. Didn't stop us from eventually splitting them but the injection pressures were averaging 3500bar+

@@DarksideDevelopments sadly I don't have any technical information as they were 100% outsourced. The injection systems were for 9/12L truck engines for the likes of DAF, VOLVO etc.

My W205 C300D is doing 280bhp on just a remap, was 245bhp as standard though so not a massive jump. This Merc engine is also 2 litre.

Do you think servicing and maintenance would be quite a bit mor expensive due to everything being crammed? Are they reliable?
They seem to be reliable from what we have seen so far. General servicing is not too much difficult compared to a normal 2.0 TDI

You shud always use a torque plate and fit and torque the main caps for boring and honing..

We dont ever repair these but they are also not super common like a 123/125/x35d or Bi Turbo A6 but those are reliable too really.

5:00 Since the injectors are all fed from a common rail how does changing the angle on the pump do anything?
The pulses come at the right time for the injector opening so the rail pressure wave is utilised and pressure fluctuations minimised :)

It's the gearbox, they don't know if 1st or 2nd gear should be selected so they hesitate. You could try a Gearbox tune alone if Warranty is a concern.

We are tuning one next week and he wants the gearbox tuned, we have sent a long time on the 7 speeds :)
What difference does it make to tune the gearbox aswell? I have only ever had manual cars remapped, so didn't need to worry about the gearbox.
