    This is a great engine, intake pressure drop is really impressive. Lots of back pressure from the SCR system and back boxes though - lots of potential to drop the EGT with an exhaust!.
    If you ran the engine on a slower curve on your dyno you'd find the egt's even stock hit 830!
    BMW B47 25d engines had 2500bar in 2015 also! But only got to 230hp (in the X3/5 etc) and used a CP4.1 - for big power makes it more of a pain as retrofitting of a rail and cp4.2 required! BMW also had twin VNT where I think the passat was only single VNT.

And then look up how much NOX is allowed in work spaces like offices, workshops, or even restaurants and such. And then you ask yourself how in the f can they justify such emissions standards?!?!?!

    I’ve been looking for an English language video of a tune on this engine - specifically I have the Kodiaq RS, BiTdi - I assume this is the exact same engine.
    Having the extended 7yr manufacturers warranty the inner turmoil on tune or not is high!
    One question I have is that from standstill this engine / gearbox seems to have a lag off the mark, that moment you want to get on to a roundabout in a break if traffic. Even in sport it’s just significant enough to be annoying. I think it’s the time delay element on the throttle map for emissions reasons but I’m not sure.
    Right or wrong I added a pedal box and it’s solved the issue to a degree. Would a remap sort it out properly? Do you agree there is an inherent lag from stock?

    • @DarksideDevelopments
      @DarksideDevelopments  2 роки тому +1

      It's the gearbox, they don't know if 1st or 2nd gear should be selected so they hesitate. You could try a Gearbox tune alone if Warranty is a concern.

    Cracking video. I have a bitdi and have toyed with a remap, mainly for a bit more punch overtaking, but there doesn't seem to be much out there. Clearly there is though. I assume you left the gearbox as standard? As I wondered whether that would need to be mapped with the engine also?

      We are tuning one next week and he wants the gearbox tuned, we have sent a long time on the 7 speeds :)

      What difference does it make to tune the gearbox aswell? I have only ever had manual cars remapped, so didn't need to worry about the gearbox.

    Autofrettage is used to strengthen tank gun barrels. They're some strong injector lines 🤣👍

      Autofrettaging is what we used on all the piping when we were developing EUP systems about 15 years ago. Didn't stop us from eventually splitting them but the injection pressures were averaging 3500bar+

      @DarksideDevelopments  4 роки тому +2

      @@fnky143 Wow, 3500bar, what were those on, truck or big boat engines? Any info on how you did it would be interesting to know. The people that make these pipes are very secretive!

      @@DarksideDevelopments sadly I don't have any technical information as they were 100% outsourced. The injection systems were for 9/12L truck engines for the likes of DAF, VOLVO etc.

    Hello,
    Nice video! Very interesting engine. Are you guys planning in the future to be able to fit 2 turbos on the 2 L engines ?

      @Darkside Developments Thanks for your reply, I had the impression for the 2L bottom end , (between tick to 2k) is always going to be low in torque.
