Oil consumption is mostly caused by extended oil change interval. 10k miles interval can reduce the risk significantly and over 10 y is more economical. No need to add 15 L in one oil change interval.

We have a 2010 Octavia with the 1.6 TDI 105 hp (manual) in the family with 350 000 km! Nothing has gone wrong. Very, very reliable if serviced properly. The car is dog slow, but is perfect for motorway cruising. It's very good on fuel. 4.5-4.7 L/100km is my REAL average with mixed driving.

Hello, my 2.0 tdi 110kw. CRLB 280000km. When driving in normal mode (not autobam), the engine consumes 0.5 oil per 1000 km. After the oil change, 10 km were driven and 5 liters of oil was poured.... Just then I noticed that there was oil in the coolant tank (the engine was not overheated), the water pump is new, I don't think the oil cooler is leaking, I think it's related to the oil rings. .. :(
Is it worth handling the engine or is it better to buy another one?

I got a Seat Leon 2.0 110kw, bought it second hand currently has 128.000km. The only problem I had so far was a failed water pump at 85000km and had to remove and pressure cleaned the dpf since i suspect the previous owner didnt drive the car enough to get it to operating temp. Other than that its a great and proper daily machine.

If you're still on G13 coolant switch asap to G12evo. G13 reacts with the interior heater / radiator and clogs up. Especially on diesel engines. Mine died around 115k km. GTD 2.0 tdi CUNA (pre Facelift)

I own a Golf 7 1.6 TDI with 340,000 km. I haven't had any problems until now, but it's time to change the crankshaft seal because it's leaking oil, but still a great car, a little slower engine unlike the 1.9 TDI, but it's ok for me. With the previous owner, the air conditioning evaporator and the heating radiator were changed both times, their drawback is that it loses coolant due to the water pump, but my model has never had any problems with this.

the bad rings were made in the Mexico plant. if your rings were made in Germany, you'll be fine. 280k miles on my EA288 and I don't burn or lose any oil (5w30 @ 504/507 spec). oh ya, and I still have my factory heater core and use G13. just plan on new timing belt & water pump every 100k miles. replace HPFP & main seal at 200k mi.

Start stop system is killing the timing belt. I have changed mine at 180.000km did not looked good. By the book it should be changed at 210k bit I would not wait that long. Next change will be at 280k. Car looks great and runs great no issue at 210k.

    Hello, recently I bought an Audi A3 8V 2.0 150hp 2014
I drove it to a mechanic and they checked everything except the coolant which of course after I check my notes I reassured myself to check on next inspection before buying. The car was driven about 50km so I couldn’t just opened the cap of the coolant and check so yeh. Long story short today I saw that the coolant has a brown not really clear color it doesn’t have any deposits in it and the substance is not muddy but it’s far from clear. So my question is what to do I took it to my mechanic and they’re gonna check it asap monday ( I bought the car Friday ) so you’re saying in the video if that colour occurs that we should run away from such examples. So should I contact the seller and get the car returned or should deal with that myself, what could be the possible outcomes of the situation money wise ?

Just to get facts straight...if you change oil and do long trip with excesive speeds 150kmh+ if engine serviced properly even at 200.000km 2.0tdi with 150ps won't consume a drop. But...if you pressure that engine with last oil service done 10k ago be prepare to lose oil so check should be done weekly after 10k from last oil service especially if high speed is involved not city driving. These engines likes to eat oil but only after oil viscosity drops and this starts at 10-12.000km if pushed hard.
