100 Hour Review | 2021 Beta XTrainer 300 | Main Bearing Failure Outcome

  • The Beta XTrainer just hit 100 hours, so we figured it’s a great time to discuss what we enjoy about the bike, talk about what’s gone bad - including an engine replacement.
    Overall, the XTrainer is a great bike. Beta did a great thing by tackling the underserved market of short inseam riders with a bike that’s as capable as any 300 2 stroke, but compact for the vertically challenged.

    I kept watching the entire video. Usually, I spend a minute or two listening to someone's review. Also, the dog kept my interest. Thank you for the info.

    Wow! 82 hours and two years out of warranty and Beta replaced the motor at no charge!? Impressive!
    26 hours on my new 2023 Beta 300 RR after four Yamaha WR 450’s, still have one, and you can’t get me off the Beta. Light, playful, dynamic bikes. Thanks for the comprehensive review. Cheers from north eastern Ontario Canada.

    You may want to switch off of the Motul 710 because it seems like the formula may have changed. The oil now burns at a different temperature. Beta now recommends Liqui Moly.

    • @raizt1596
      @raizt1596 Рік тому +2

      To add to this, the new Motul 710 formula burns at a hotter temperature, which means if you aren't riding the bike hard, it won't burn, and will instead come out as spooge from the tailpipe as well as clog up the muffler.

    Love my 2018 beta 300 xtrainer although my oil injector failed at 310 hours luckily it flooded the bike instead of drying it out, fixed that all up the right way, bought a lectron and couldn’t get the bike to run right, noticed my bike had low transfer case oil in it to find out my crankshaft bearing failed at 319 hours, beta says replace bottom end after 150 hours which i think is outrageous and out of warranty, shops quote $4k so now im going to try and do it myself wish me luck

      319 hours is pretty good for a two stroke tho!! Good luck on it! I know I'll end up rebuilding my next one too rather than paying shop labor.

    hello, thank you for your awesome review, one question, as im interested in buying one, i would ride also on the street more like a dual sport bike, do you think it will work? wats a decent speed to drive on the road with it? thank you

    • @TheAndersenAdventures
      @TheAndersenAdventures  10 місяців тому +2

      I personally would not recommend doing much other than just around town trips (30 mph and less)
      This is not a very good street bike and doesn't really come set up properly as a good dual sport. Not to mention terrible fuel economy. If you are wanting a Beta dual sport, maybe look into the 350/390/450 RR-S models
      They are 4 stroke but they come much better set up from factory for street riding (with DOT tires, indicators, etc)
      I personally did not enjoy my XT on the street. I did a 40 mile ride on highway once and ran it out of injection oil (Texas speed limits near 80 mph)

    Hi! Thanks for the review! How tall are you? I just put a down payment for a 2024 and I’m thinking on installing a 1” lowering kit. I’m 5’6”

    • @TheAndersenAdventures
      @TheAndersenAdventures  10 місяців тому +2

      I am 5'4", and I am unsure of my inseam 😅 Have you sat on one at your local dealer? The suspension has a lot of cush too - I had my rear sag set for my weight and have played with the forks as well. I'd definitely take it out for a ride before spending the money on a lowering link!

      @@TheAndersenAdventures unfortunately not a single xtrainer on the dealership 🥲 all 2023 models sold so I’m basically trusting all my investigations 😅 and UA-cam reviews. Everything points back to the Xtrainer. I did actually tried a KTM-125 XC a could barely touch the ground. I’m actually not super worried about the beta seat height I know it’s lower than the rest but the 1” lowering kit seem affordable and my local dealership will install it at no cost for being a brand new bike. Also if I feel Comfortable enough I can put back the original spring. So will see . Beta has one of the best warranty in the market in my opinion. They will give me 6 months full warranty on the bike and at that price you can’t beat that. Plus no dealer fees. Just freight and taxes. KTM 12k out the door and not a single day of warranty. Your on your own 🙈.
      Well thank you for the response and hope to see more Xtrainer videos 😍

    I just got a 2021 XT. It has 25 hours on it currently. What were the first signs you noticed that something was wrong with the bike?

    • @TheAndersenAdventures
      @TheAndersenAdventures  10 місяців тому

      It all happened pretty fast - started out as a loud whirring noise that sounded like the bike had a huge fan connected to it, it sputtered out and died. It restarted, gave it a good rev, then it stopped and sounded fine so I kept riding. Then it started up again after a few minutes, never down on power, just an awful sound coming from bottom end left side of the bike. That's when we figured something was very wrong and we sent it into the dealer.

    • @prezzzrock
      @prezzzrock 10 місяців тому +1

      Got it. More sound related then. I'll pay close attention to the engine sounds. Beta claims issue was due to improper bearing installation at the factory and it only effects 5% of bikes. And was supposed to be corrected in the 2020 and later bikes. Obviously not the case. Glad they took care of it for you. Thanks for the info and for the quick reply!!@@TheAndersenAdventures
