A great honest no BS review thanks Geoff. I have the 2021 and it does exactly what I want it to do - my days of Supercross and bit jumps are way behind me - the xTrainer has not missed a beat after 100 hours and yes I still run oil injection without issue! Keep up the great job

But after a few US Hard Enduro race I decided to sell it and I got the 2022 Beta Xtrainer and instantly loved it. 4 hours on the race edition and I was pooped, but 4 hours on my Xtrainer and I am fine ready for next ride

In my (wanna be) thinking I'd look at the RR or RRX Betas but in my ( realistic - grounded in truth about my abilities and time away from riding/racing ! ) thinking this and the 2023 X-Trainer will be the obvious choice. I'm a light weight rider, own the 21 model since new up here in Coffs Harbour, Ive owned many dirt bikes & I must say this, there's not many hills I don't get up on this bike. We ride valleys, single track, rocks, mud, rain forest, rivers etc and the bike just eats it up. The low end power is awesome. I swapped out the oil injection and now run pre mix and the bike is so crisp on the note! yeah it was a bit weird when new, but a few tweaks and ridden in, seemed to have fixed it's way of breathing. I run heavy duty tubes greased with assembly grease and keep the tube lock nut tight!
I like the way you phrase this; ''I don't dwell on the technical stuff'' I don't either, I'm at the point where I know how to trouble shoot issues, do maintenance, and rebuild top ends, that sort of thing, that's all I concern myself with.
I'm 5'8 with a 30 inch inseam, so I've been looking at this bike lately. Currently ride a KTM 350 and I can never touch the ground when I need to on the harder trails.
Traded my 22 Xtrainer for a 22 300RR. It was coming time to spend some money on suspension and the 300rr is more versatile so that’s where I went. Nothing inspired more confidence than the XT and I’d recommend it for anyone wanting to ride trails under 35mph. It certainly can ride anything, but I’d describe the handling as swappy once in 4th gear
Since I have seen this video and considering that Geoff (if that is his name) is a much better rider than me, I am not sure if I will buy the 300RR I always wanted. Damn! The smaller tank is the only thing that bothers me. I am totally puzzled which one to get.
In the technical hills we tested the bike in, the Xtrainer lugged up better than anything else. Some of the hills Ballard rides the thing up are down right silly.
Hey Fellas, Ballard went around the block trying different suspension, but ended up preferring the standard setup. The configuration shown in the video featured a different rear shock, but Geoff went on to swap it back to the stock shock.

There is a bike for everybody. I rode a 21 stock and it didn't like my aggressive riding style. Glad I tried it because I always wanted one.

Beta’s plastics are fragile and crunchy. But I can’t find aftermarket shrouds for 2023 Xtrainer. That’s a big problem
How are the xtrainers at climbing? I heard they can struggle because of poor top end power?

Trials bikes are not exactly top end brutes and they climb better than any other dirt bike. Top end power is not a critical factor for climbing.
We have one. It’s astonishing how effective it is at climbing, descending, crossing logs, basically anything you throw at it.
So... he managed to mention suspension several times but didn't say what he did in the end ? or did I miss it ? :D
