Very nice! Thanks for the video! I love to pick up pebbles at the beach, so much so that I have a couple hundred kilos of them lying around the house and garden.... I was considering to smooth, buff and seal them! I have never done it until now, so when I watched you, I thought I'd try to use a table vice, clamp my stone in it and go for the polishing. That way, I would have more impact and also a better coverage with sand paper.... I could even use an electric rotating hand sander to make it more efficient. I'll be setting this up soon, and I'll let you know how it went!
just a fine lacquer spray to keep the shine that was already there beautiful. after the hard work to make the pebble shiney by sanding I wanted to preserve the shine as the pebbles are now outside in a display. :)
@ Crazy Cretaceous Creations ...dunno, where your comment is i, can see most of it in notifications.. but not in the comment box.. i used varnish on this occasion because its going in a dish with air plants and is going to get wet. with my fossils, i do use beeswax.
It's long after you posted the video, but I was wondering something. While I'd never spray anything on a rock myself as my own preference, I did read a comment elsewhere recently that suggested that, over time, the lacquer takes on a kind of yellow look. It might not matter with some rocks, but is that something you've noticed? Thanks!
yup this was done two years ago. and I have not seen yellowing yet.. with lacquers they improve as time goes by and they guarantee no yellowing, same as in resin. it all depends on what you buy. also, my stones stay in the house. so the sun does not damage the lacquer.
@@adamssecretgarden Thank you for your answer! That's all good to know. I'm glad that it's still looking good for you. I'd have picked up that stone as well if I'd seen it. :)
@@TruthWillSetYouFree832 cant beat a pretty stone, as a child I was so disappointed when I got home they were so dull and dry. They only look good wet !
@@adamssecretgarden Yes! My ambition is to eventually be able to tumble some of them, but at the moment it would just make too much noise and not enough space. There's a gentleman on YT who's a master at it and has a quiet cabinet for tumbling, which would be my goal. :) But it's so fun to keep looking for rocks in the meantime! I look at them with an old microscope and they're fascinating.
@@adamssecretgarden it did look very nice with your process for sure. Most people don't realize that those cobble stones are mostly clear quartz on the inside which is the reason for my comment 🙏

I love it! I hate noise and have no patience, but love rocks, so i am totally going to try this!
Just make sure you get sandpaper made for wet sanding so you dont get the wrinkles you see in the sheets
it is for wet sanding... id been using it a lot off camera too :) thank you for watching
What kind of spray did you use to make it shiny?

After a proper polish it would be clear quartz
Investing in a tumbler would be nice. But wet and dry sand paper took the pebble to a nice smoothness and shine. Very tactile
