This was 100% the best and most informative video I’ve seen on this yet. Thank you so much. I’m slowly gathering knowledge and money so I can get machines and tools needed to do this myself. Fascinating.
This was my first time watching anything like this but I enjoyed it immensely and I'm more excited to start cutting, shaping, and polishing all of the rocks and stones that I now have! Great video and beautiful results, I will watch more of your presentations now that I found you!
Please wear a mask and gloves when cutting those copper minerals - they can cause issues that take a long time to resolve if you absorb them into your skin. Nice video! Really nice stones too!
Enjoyed your video would like to know about working with labordorite. I’m not so interested in making jewelry just cleaning and polishing rough stone. Could you please give more details about what equipment I may need to begin and where to purchase. Thank You again for the awesome demonstration!
Very good and useful information you are Providing here .Keep in mind you are responsible for our hearing ability while we are watching the video so just more awareness into sound level between talking and the noise of the machines especially with headphones.
Really enjoyed this video! Keep it up. Do you work with setting and how would you make one of those beautiful stones you carved and polished into a pendant or necklace?
This video is pretty helpful and informative for what I'm trying to do myself. Also, there was a question asked about what is don't with the mud from the stones that were ground. I think that though the mud is toxic, it can be turned into valuable paint.
Where did you get these stones? They’re gorgeous, rough specimens! Love this video! Aside from the Dino bone, which you stated to have hounded yourself, am just so curious about where you get your others.
Wow amazing video. Question can you do this to make rocks very flat and smooth to be painted over with matte white such as basic rocks for kindness stones? 🎉😅
Wear a respirator people! 🪨🪚🫲🏼😷👍🏼 I just got a saw and heard people say that the water keeps all the dust down so i didn't wear a mask for a few cutting sessions. I've been painfully coughing my lungs up for 3 weeks and have a persistent dry dusty feeling in my throat. Also if any dust makes it past your bronchial tubes it will likely cause perminent damage because your lungs can't heal themselves. The 3M P100 advanced respirator filters are a lot easier to breath through, I forget that I'm wearing a respirator now 👍🏼
I have aquamarine bloodstone rose quartz amethyst pyrite agates peridot black obsidian black tourmaline Labradorite and green aventurine. I love them all, they're my babies and some are my guardian angels
You mentioned this was in Florida, what county? Will look for some clubs around Palm beach where I live. I have lots of uncut Emeralds that need to be worked on. Thanks for the video
I would love to see your stones in finished jewelry. I would also like to see the equipment up close under the hood. I like red Jasper, WE have a bit of it in my area. (NE AZ)
Very interesting vid ... lots of infos about self made stone jewerly making which exactly what i want to learn .. thank u sir .. btw how much is one of those grinding machine cost ?
Silly question, but if your finger happens to touch the side of the blade during cutting, do you run the risk of taking off chunks of skin? I have yooperlite that I want to cut, and am a little hesitant holding the stones with my finger so close to the blade.
It's easier for me to say which gemstones I don't like very much because there is just one, and that is diamond. For me, diamonds are over-rated- sure, they have sparkle when cut and polished, but so do many other stones. Nor are they that rare, relatively speaking, there are other gems far rarer. What pushes their price up is that the main producers of cut diamonds ration them to the market to keep that price artificially high. Finally, I don't buy into the hype surrounding diamonds. I studied chemistry, and spent a good part of my working life in chemistry labs. People claim that 'Diamonds are forever'. These people clearly haven't seen what a chemist can do to a diamond. Heat the stone, drop it into a flask of liquid oxygen and in a minute or so it is gone, vanished into an invisible cloud of carbon dioxide...
What do you use to cut quartz? I love your video. I'm attempting to cut and polish without the specialty stone equipment..just curious what saw will cut them? Where do you purchase your raw stones? I have a bunch of california turquoise but yours is so much more appealing
Hi just saw your video love the colors... on one part of the video 16.59 there is a perfect picture of a Aztec woman wearing a Aztec style hat.....call me crazy but check it out on the right side 🤙🏼
That third one is Chrysoprase, not Chrysocolla. Which is a good thing, Chryscolla is more like chalk, you can't really polish it. Correct me if I'm wrong, I just have never found Chryscolla that's well formed at multiple copper mines.
Hey man super interested in what you do. I’m having trouble finding a studio in NY with equipment to use. Do you know of a place that has equipment to use? Long shot but I gotta figure this out haha
Hey there! Exactly what is that machine called and where can I get one myself? I've been doing this teaching myself for a few years but using rotary handheld tools and I'm currently in the market for table grinders and machines. Any help is greatly appreciated! Love your videos! Very informative!
Search lapidary tools or cabbing machine. The one in the video, I can read the brand - it is Lortone. I just checked their website, (I am looking for a similar one) - the arbor with water cooling starts at $565 USD - the price does not include the wheels or the motor. Not sure how much those run. There is a 6" 6 wheel one from CabKing that I have seen a lot of people use - unfortunately, it is about $1500 USD.
Hi! I need an experienced opinion on this: is it true that only harder stones can achieve that glass like shine while softer stone can only shine like plastic/ resin ?
would it make sence to tumble them first, then just slice off a flat end and polish the sides... I feel like you could knock out a shit load in 1 day after the tumbles.. or does it not work like that?
how the heck can you go from 220 to 600? Ive found that even going from 220 to 280 can be problematic depending on the actual mesh size boundaries within any grit. For example some 280 grits are actually more on the high end of 300-320. Every manufacturer has their own mesh tolerances regardless of what the "standard" is.
I just got the cutter table, Is it dangerous to do it how you are here holding the rock by hand? Feeding it and making something to hold the stone has been my biggest problem and due to an accident that took my fingertip in a bench grinder about 15 years ago or more I am a bit gun shy to say the least. Is it just ok then to hold the stone by hand? It does not chatter to much that way?
It seems some people are just made for giving instruction. Your demeanor is so calming and endearing.
I'm not blushing or completely flattered 😊 BUT I AM

I am learning for a hobby - and to give to family and friends. I inherited the rock business😂
I like all the above stones!
Enjoyed your video would like to know about working with labordorite. I’m not so interested in making jewelry just cleaning and polishing rough stone. Could you please give more details about what equipment I may need to begin and where to purchase. Thank You again for the awesome demonstration!

Really enjoyed this video! Keep it up. Do you work with setting and how would you make one of those beautiful stones you carved and polished into a pendant or necklace?
Congratulations. great work and great pieces.. Like👍👍👍
You do very well at your instruction.
This video is pretty helpful and informative for what I'm trying to do myself. Also, there was a question asked about what is don't with the mud from the stones that were ground. I think that though the mud is toxic, it can be turned into valuable paint.
Thank you for this video you are awesome sharing your knowledge. Best helpful info iv come across
Loved the video! But, I want to see what you did with the quartz. Can you make a video of that too?
Really need to get a rock saw setup
Gem silica is the prettiest ever
Where did you get these stones? They’re gorgeous, rough specimens! Love this video! Aside from the Dino bone, which you stated to have hounded yourself, am just so curious about where you get your others.

Nice video! Nice work. Thanks for sharing.
Nicely done, new supporter here!
Collect the powder and use it for inlays in wood. Mix powder with clear gorilla glue. Works great.
Paraiba Tourmaline. And citrine deep orange are my favorite gemstones...
Protect yourself when having fun😊
Wow amazing video. Question can you do this to make rocks very flat and smooth to be painted over with matte white such as basic rocks for kindness stones? 🎉😅
Hi, I live on a canal in SWFL; where did you find your stones? On the west coast or the east coast of FL? Thanks for this vid, it was so informative!

I have large iolite grey stone I need to cut or just sell it. Weight 1063 grams. You have an excellent cutting machine
You mentioned this was in Florida, what county? Will look for some clubs around Palm beach where I live. I have lots of uncut Emeralds that need to be worked on. Thanks for the video
50,000 grit seems ridiculous - it's like having a 16k screen when humans can barely distinguish between 4k and 8k
Hi I'm new to cutting and polishing would like to know what's the name of brand of a good polish machine I should look into to buy for polishing ?
Gorgeous!
Wonderfull. How do you cut the stone to start with. I collect stuff, but it is too big to start with. Do not know what kit to get. Inspired. Thanks
Beautiful work!
Thank you!
Great video. Informative. ❤️
Really great video. Could your mystery stone be a chrysocolla?
The music on this reminds me of harvest moon for GameCube back in the day lol.
Silly question, but if your finger happens to touch the side of the blade during cutting, do you run the risk of taking off chunks of skin? I have yooperlite that I want to cut, and am a little hesitant holding the stones with my finger so close to the blade.
Helpful and very interesting, thanks..

"Always protect yourself" Proceeds to be millimeters away from slicing fingers off. Great vid though lol.
Hi just saw your video love the colors... on one part of the video 16.59 there is a perfect picture of a Aztec woman wearing a Aztec style hat.....call me crazy but check it out on the right side 🤙🏼

Can you post a link to the machines and tools that you used to polish these beautiful gems?!
thank you. it was very creative
That third one is Chrysoprase, not Chrysocolla. Which is a good thing, Chryscolla is more like chalk, you can't really polish it. Correct me if I'm wrong, I just have never found Chryscolla that's well formed at multiple copper mines.
I would like to know how to get into this. What equipment is best to start with?
Dude that's Awesome!!! Lovin it!!! Question, 9:20 is the water turned all the way up?
It could probably be turned up MORE but, it was wet enough. :)
Love the stash. Very informative vid.
so cool ! post more videos
Great video
Can you please cut hard material like a ruby or emerald? Thank you.
Hey man super interested in what you do. I’m having trouble finding a studio in NY with equipment to use. Do you know of a place that has equipment to use? Long shot but I gotta figure this out haha
Is this just a different method than tumbling?
Hey there! Exactly what is that machine called and where can I get one myself? I've been doing this teaching myself for a few years but using rotary handheld tools and I'm currently in the market for table grinders and machines. Any help is greatly appreciated! Love your videos! Very informative!

You can handhold with care. Diamond blades don’t cut like woodworking blades. Blade life goes down if you twist the stone and jam the blade.
there should be no teeth on the blade you use, they are smooth
Great content sir! Can you make an in depth video about polishing
¡Bello trabajo!
I would do that for you just to learn or any job that would make life easier,
Complimenti al lavoro e a te
very fun to watch except for the very first stone cut . Man yoy have to find a better way before you lose your digits.
Yyyyeah I was thinking the same thing. He was awfully close
breathing in dino fossil dust... got a pair rocks on ya
