From New South Wales, Australia watching Grandparents from Tennessee, USA react to my favourite band from Victoria, Australia. It's the circle of life.
Woohoo! Glad you guys liked it! And thanks so much for listening. I have a massive playlist and when a real good one comes on I think “The grandparents gotta hear this one”.
The oriental sound you're noticing is because this song uses microtonal insttuments that play tones between the standard 12 tones used in western music. These instruments are fretted or otherwise modified to be able to play 24 different tones, including half tones in between for example C and D. King gizzard has released 3 albums exploring these musical scales, most famously used in Turkish music. I agree with some of the other comments here, check out Iron Lung or Crumbling castle next.
Great band, one of my all time favorites. This song is atypical because the lead singer and guitarist and the keyboardist switch places on this one. I highly recommend their song Crumbling Castle. It’s a trip. Or Iron Lung if you like shrooms.
Stop what you’re doing and go watch their music video “I’m not a man unless I have a woman”. Wife and I joke these guys are time travelers and this was from Gizzfest ‘69
