Trent, use the winch on your truck to lift the heater.
Leo is so cute, it was very cool being able to see him stand for the first time.
He can't get the truck in because of the plastic on the garage doors but, yes, that would have been the way to go.
The winch was my first thought.

Am I the only one still wondering what happened to the water in the basement situation???
There was no water there.
The problem was resolved after the new septic pipes were put in this past summer.
Kenny, do you watch regularly? That was fixed months ago. A lot of work.
I think Kenny means the alarm that went off in the basement regarding a potential leak in this episode.
The alarm went off during this episode and we never got a resolution.

You should buy heated stair mats, they won't melt the entire width of your stairs, but you would have a path in and out of the house.
This is what we were saying when we were watching her go through all that work. The deck and the stairs. :)
My daughter was 13 months old when she let go. I start putting a towel around her chest and hold the ends up and she would walk. One day she let go and was walking every where my suggestion let him do on his own time once they start walking they don't stop hahaha

You might want to consider heat mats for the stairs. Retractable roof for the deck perhaps? A lot of your natural light comes from that direction. So lovely to see Leo’s confidence on his feet!!

Where was Leo?? Was he having a nap? Probably the place l would love to be in that cold. I would never survive. I have osteoarthritis and it knows when the cold is around and the pain is awful!! Snow would be too much.

For a guy who loves using his winch on the road, I expected to see it here. Ha, I used one to pull out fence posts over the summer. Worked great! With a winch and vice grips, you can do anything!! 😁

No use saying this since they got it done but aren't there pulley systems that would have made lifting that heavy heater easier and safer? I'd definitely have to look up how to set up a different kind of pulley system.

@@jobethk588 Yes, you are correct and I am surprised Trent didn't take advantage of a multiple pulley system. They aren't all that expensive, either. I have seen them from about $20 for a 2-pulley system (lighter loads and more effort) to about $150 for a 5-pulley system ( heavier loads and less effort).
@@Mandy_39 Technical verbiage I do not have, but...the block and tackle systems with which I am familiar use two pulleys, each with multiple wheels for feeding the rope through. Each time the rope passes back through, it increases the efficiency and reduces the effort.
Of ALL the wonderful moments you shared today, my favorite visual is at 5:46 with Leka following you. She's like a little baby duck after your every step. I would print and hang that image. With my daughter's first step, she had a small pewter coaster in her hand and blithely walked across the room holding it. She didn't realize what she'd done until she was mid-room.
Allie had me crying at the end of the video explaining how grateful she was this year for everything ( compared to the uncertainty of their lives last year at this time.)
You both work so hard ( with the help of Brandon) to make your lives so wonderful….congratulations on getting the heater installed and for including us in seeing Leo standing alone for the first time ever!🎉🎉🎉

Trent is the man! What an accomplishment getting that heater installed! The most impressive part was getting it mounted, but then he also knew how to do the gas, electrical, etc. I'm wondering if both new sides of the garage will also each have their own heater, and I guess we will find out. I hope the weather breaks so you guys can get started on framing the walls.

Being a tropical guy, I know nothing about snow. But just a suggestion. If you start at the bottom of the stairs and work upwards, you won’t have to bend so far. Bending to work below foot level is a major stress on the back.
Need to get some of those heated rubber floor mats for your front porch and steps that are designed specifically to melt snow. they make huge ones that would almost cover your whole porch if you wanted

If you put another piece of thin strut on the top of the barjoist and all thread from top strut to bottom strut it will be supported form the top which is ideal. Good job getting it up there.

You will need to put fans in. You no heat rises. The furnace is already on the ceiling. So your heat will stay on the ceiling. It will be cooler on the floor of the garage.

the 4 runner winch through the man door maybe. Heater is huge it will definitely heat the garage and apartment. The install was fine looked good. Leo stood on his own so cool, could tell he was Trent's boy when he started to climb the step ladder.

Christmas can be an emotional time for many reasons, all different for different people, making them intensely personal. You set out your reasons, and they are excellent positive ones, a family growing and enjoying the life you are building for yourselves with help from your extended family. For others, the emotion can have other aspects, not always so positive, but all part of their life. You definitely need to invest in shelving (preferably with wheels) in the basement to get everything up off the ground in case you have water issues. I love being able to roll everything out of the way to work (or clean up water issues) in the basement when needed.
I smiled all through your video, we know Leo is fine! And to see him standing unaided and he was on a soft carpet in socks, good luck keeping him from pulling your Christmas decoration onto the floor that he can reach. Trent and Brandon + Allie's added weight managed to get the heater up to the ceiling, I would like to see more support under it, I know you haven't finished installing it yet.

When you are out in the snow you should be wearing sunglasses because it is even brighter than just a summer day. There is stuff you can get that will melt the ice on your stairs, so no one slips and falls. Not for the whole amount of snow but the ice part you can't get shoveled.
