Soon you'll be installing windows/plastic to keep warm during winter. Then there's restoration of the interiors. I'm loving it all Dan. Thanks to you and the A Team.
He installed plastic sheathing in the windows last winter. Then a few days later a wind storm blew everything down except for the 2nd floor(US) or 1st floor(EU). Proper windows will be exciting.
@@Christine-o2l8q in a video about a year ago he carefully pulled down one of the few intact windows and took all the measurements, so that's the plan. Likely a lot of custom features set to arrive when the time comes - glass, lead, wood bending tools for the arches, etc.
I love the way each problem is solved as you build AND that y’all clean up as you go AND that your tools are put away so carefully. You Dan and Nick and Brian make a terrific team.
OH WOW!! JUST WOW! On those roof finials! Gorgeous for one thing and totally amazed on top of that that yet again Dan is proving himself to be an amazingly creative talented and gifted craftsman taking on all the copper and tin work!! Just WOW!!!
Bespoke copper guttering. Decorative metal finials. A grand tower. This is next level stuff. Loving this and I have been watching every day with great anticipation for the next episode. Thanks for it all.
Dan, I just love the enthusiasm you show for every complicated step in your rebuilding process. We can’t help but be enthusiastic right along with you. Thank you for taking us along.
Dan , thanks for sharing this project with all of us retired restoration contractors !! I’d rather watch this channel update than anything else on you tube. Remembering watching the 1st vlog you showed us Dan, walking around a complete ruin & all the photos you'd been given of the Chateau as it was was another world. To have the vision & passion to start this project & watch you grow in skill & confidence, I salute you Dan no words are sufficient to tell you what you've achieved! Thank you❤

The craftsmanship that was once common seems to have gone by the wayside. I can't imagine how much money this project is going to cost. All of the tools they come up with alone are very expensive, let alone the materials. What a cool series of videos!
I'm excited to see how you make access to the finished turret. Can you imagine being a young kid and having a room like that to play in? That would be so awesome!
Me too and I'm 78, I don't often comment because I way behind time wise, in Western Australia, but get excited as each floor, new equipment, new puppies ofcourse, and the garden love it all. Well done Dan , Nick and Brian, it is going to be so very interesting once the actual inside Reno begins...❤

Those finials at the entrance ....... What a lovely touch and hint of things to come to bring the old girl back to her former glory. The first 'bling' restored to the chateau. Well done lads, what good mates and a good team you are, always singing from the same hymn sheet - and so talented. Amazing to watch. Thank you.
Dan, that camera perspective of laying the floor. showing the floor framing is a thing of extreme beauty. I have always loved seeing the skeletal system & structure of buildings. The chauteau and all the flooring has been impressive and inspirational

Excellent idea! 💡 Dan, and Nick especially, hope you see this comment/wisdom & follow through. ( Yes, Dan reads the comments briefly, and so does Nick. The interiors look even larger than they did when full of rubble. Gods! The place is enormous. Dan, what a task you have taken on and what a magnificent job you are doing with your helping hands of Brian, Nick and Orange Pants. Well done. More power to you all.
Perhaps the walls of the tower were tapered to give the illusion of greater height. Disney used this technique on Cinderella's castle at Disneyland, to make the towers and turrets look taller than they actually are. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!
I honestly can’t believe how talented you guys are, and it just keeps on coming. Now you are going to create the guttering from scratch 😮 … Astonishing stuff!
Of course it was tapered purposefully. There is -500 years of history leading tk this construction . You must figure out what they knew and how unbelievably ingenious they were to recreate the workmanship. In 1968/9 I was privileged to work on the restoration of several major buildings at Versailles. It was the chance and honor of a lifetime. The upper structures of the very organized mansard roofs looks like a forest of giant tree trunks and limbs. They were selected and out into place. Then the roof was organized and laid out. Limbs and trunks were added and cut off until doweled boards could connect them all together. I should have stayed there do document and publish the work I saw. But I was not aware of how special this experience was and so missed an opportunity of a lifetime. I did design several really cool homes in Newport Beach, Ca.
I was also thinking the turret walls were intentionally tapered. Wouldn't the facade look taller when vewing from the main entry into the chateau? If I'm not mistaken, the Coloseum has tapered columns as well.😅
Dan it's amazing that you dare go into the turret and remove stores etc. without a safety helmet... I totally respect the effort, I just woudn't have done it without... And yes, I do look forward to every new episode of your journey towards the end of the restoration whatever it might bring of challanges, and hazzards 😍
When I first began watching this series back at the start, I thought rebuilding the chateau was just a pie in the sky hope for Dan with just a few helpers. This was a job for a large professional crew, I thought. A bit later, I started to be impressed with how much was actually getting done, but still wasn't sure it would last. Then, I began thinking maybe this can actually work, but some pros will still have to be brought in. Now, with every shred of doubt long gone, I can't wait to see what Dan alone and with help from his friends will complete next. I fully expect to see a finished rebuild in time that will likely result in a far better Chateau de Chaumont than the original.

We missed you yesterday. Happy to see another episode.
A lot of planning and logistics are involved, but we don’t see that.
now even making all the copper and metal roof parts / roofing yourself. That is a creative achievement
probably easier than having it made since there will be a lot of adjustments necessary anyways
