In the past, the Kangasvuokko was harvested in abundance, and the species was protected as early as 1952. In recent decades, it has continued to become rare and is now classified as an endangered species. In the nature conservation regulation, the Kangasvuokko is a protected species. Those growing in nature must therefore be left alone. Its illegal to pick them or to move to be planted to other locations.
You asked, are these flowers so important that they need to be protected.. Well, they have become more rare and have been rare a long time. To protect a rare plant you also protect some specific type of place where such ecological niche exists where they can live.
I have lived on the other side of Lahti at a time when they where already rare but could be found close by in the neighborhood, if you knew where to look. Now that place is also much more tightly build and spoiled by humans.
With some rare plants and and animals it can be better to not publish where they are to protect those places from possibly harmful attention. Just simply too many people visiting and leaving their footprints can have bad consequences in the delicate Nordic nature where many things can grow very slowly.
Wait a minute... You said it's your gym. So of course you needed more snow in your gardens to continue you exercises.
Shouldn't a religious person like yourself see more snow as a blessing, from that perspective.
