Just my 2 cents but I think the funding and the bilaterals are two separate issues. If the funding is for 2 squads men and women and they only field one they shouldn't get the funding for the women's squad.
What to do with that money becomes the question. Imo it should be for a women's freedom team. Any woman from any country that opresses them who is in asylum should be able to come to trials and have a chance to compete and the funding comes from any of the boards that are not meeting their obligations to women's cricket.
That solves Jarrod's generational question until we run out of oppressive governments which imo would be a wonderful problem to have.

But all manner of regimes use sporting achievement as propaganda and the participation in international sport does to a degree legitimise them. For instance I don't want to see British athletes compete against Russian or Israeli athletes because I feel this competition would give those countries credible and suggests Britain condones these actions when what they are doing in Ukraine and Gaza is deplorable.
I know my country is not perfect and had say Muslim countries refused to play teams from the UK (full UK or Eng Scot etc) when we were at war in Iraq and Afghanistan it would have been fair enough. Those wars were deeply unpopular in Britain, people would continue to protest against them and hopefully the government would take note!

Nothing complex. Let the aspiring women players play in leagues around the world and show they are any good in a sport played seriously by about 4 and a half teams, then we will think about it.
Also, i demand the Western world define what a woman is before asking for a women's team.

Yes all women should be allowed to represent their country in sport, but it’s not the Afghanistan cricket board fault, it their government that does allow or believe women in their county should not be allowed to take part in sport or have the same freedoms that the men do.
I also believe if the ICC are going to ban Afghanistan or reduce their funding they should also stop giving Indian and Pakistan the full funding see they only play each other at World Cups and not in test cricket.
If Indian and Pakistan are happy to play each other outside of their countries in World Cups their is no real reason why they can’t play test cricket in England or the UAE.
